  1. Oh my gosh I got to witness the birth of a new forum. What a moment in Serenes Forest history.

Alright, let's go! I'm certainly hyped for this.

    *cries in no Switch*

Rest in Pumpernickel: Acacia Sgt- Hasn't been able to get a Switch yet, but hopefully will one day amass the cashola to buy one.

I get how ya feel, I really do. I wasn't able to get myself an Xbox One (S) until around 2017 . Hope you can buy a Switch before Fire Emblem Engage comes out! There's the Switch Lite if you want a cheaper, $200 Switch model. If you only plan on going handheld, it's a perfect option, I'd say. But if you'd prefer some hybrid TV-Handheld action, the base Switch is going for $300, which is cheaper than the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5. Or there's the OLED model, which is $50 more than the base model, but it is worth it if you'd like a bigger screen with some better visuals compared to the other two Switch models I mentioned.

At least there are no Switch shortages like with the rest of the current gen!

That's very much true, though I'm pretty sure the Xbox Series X/S and Playstation 5 systems have finally gotten around to being sold for base price (At least where I live in America). I managed to snag a Series X back in 2021, and it is a beast of a system I tells ya. Happy to own a Series X and Switch among other systems.

  2. $100 seems fair enough considering that's how much most special/gold editions go for on launch day. You've got the base game for $60, the steelbook's probably around $20-40, and the poster, art cards and art book cover the remaining cost (or just serve as an extra incentive to buy the Divine Edition if the steelbook's worth $40 alone).

I've already put in a preorder myself at Gamestop just the other day, so I have managed to secure myself a copy of Fire Emblem Engage: Divine Edition. I'd say the price is worth it considering everything you're getting for this special edition. The art book and cards will be nice little collectibles to hold onto and the poster looks pretty cool. I'm a physical purchaser anyways, so I see this as an absolute win.

  3. Not sure which specific Astrid we're referring to since there's both a Fire Emblem Astrid and a non-FE Astrid, but since we seem to be on a bit of a Fire Emblem character fanart trend, I assume that the user above me wants me to find fanart of Astrid from Fire Emblem Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn.

sol badguy, order-sol, and astrid (fire emblem and 4 more) drawn by haru_(nakajou-28) | Danbooru

Well, I found this one while searching on the web and thought it looked pretty cool, so here ya go! :]

As for my humble request: I'd like to see fanart of both Male Alear AND Female Alear in the same image/art-thingy.

  4. What's your favorite restaurant (Fast-Food, Sit-Down or Otherwise, so long as it's your go-to for tasty food, it counts!) and what's your favorite food item/combo there? I've got some close contenders for the number one position, so I'll just tell you what one of my favorites is. Teriyaki Madness is one of my absolute favorite restaurants to eat at (or order takeout). My favorite thing there's the Spicy Chicken. Absolutely delicious and tastes great with their signature Teriyaki sauce on top, and don't get me started on their Crab Rangoon. Suffice to say, I really like their food.

Do you happen to own Super Mario Maker 2 and do you have an account for that game? If you do have an account, what's your maker ID?

Maybe that's way too specific of a question to count for this thread (I'd still like an answer to that question though, since I'm always looking to make more Mario Maker friends). So I'll ask another one: what is your most favourite movie(s)? Mine is currently Shazam, for how amazingly funny it is, yet how surprisingly deep the story is and how there's a surprising amount of parallels between the main hero and the main villain.

I do own Super Mario Maker 2 as a matter of fact, and also have an account for the game.  I've only ever published like, one or two levels, though. So you won't be able to play a whole world's worth of levels unless I decide to go back into SMM2 and create one. But hey, if you still want to be Mario Maker friends, I'll share my maker ID in my next reply.

As for favorite movie, man that's a hard one. I'm not really sure, maybe Megamind, Wall-E, or Hiro of the Rails. I'm not really much of a movie person and prefer to play video games for my personal entertainment, so I couldn't really give you a straight answer. Sorry. 🙁

  5. Fallen Edelgard sold Wraith's other nine Sidereals for a glazed donut.

Fallen Edelgard kept Alear from getting a third of their hair colored green.

RGB colored hair Alear: The Divine Dragon of the Color Wheel. Now that is something that hopefully gets turned into fanart. I would totally pay someone to draw that, actually.

It'd work for a Musou or something at least.

Persona 5 Royal is in the three MegaTen games i mentioned and i regret to inform you that my experience with the game was basically the exact opposite of yours. Like i beat it but it singlehandedly killed any interest i had in Persona as a whole.

Well, Fire Emblem and Persona both got Warriors spinoffs. Kind of interesting to think about what a TMS #FE Warriors game could've looked like.

I can see why it would kill your interest (and feel free to correct me if my assumption as to why you don't like Persona is wrong). Persona 5 Royal is a loooooooooooooooooong game, generally averaging at 100 or so hours for just the main story alone! I enjoyed the game back when I still had a PS4 Pro and it's nice to see the game getting ported to other systems, but I don't really feel like sinking that kind of time into a game that long again. But hey, I haven't played Persona 3 Portable or Persona 4 Golden yet (and they're also being ported), so I'll have to put those on my "Games I'll eventually get around to beating" list.

1 hour ago, Acacia Sgt said:

This reminds me, I still have an unfinished playthrough. ... uh huh. Yeah, ever since I began working it's all been reduced to a crawl.

I made the critical mistake of beginning multiple game playthroughs while also having college and work to deal with, so I've more or less decided to just stick with one game to focus on until I beat the main story and maybe do some side content too. Hence why my playthroughs of games such as Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Lost Judgment (My current focus), and Far Cry 6 are still in progress until I eventually get around to beating those games.

Hard disagree, the toothpaste hair is just plain fun, and heterochromia is far more interesting as well.

Ah the game that killed my interest in the Xenoblade Chronicles series...

Huh, you guys are more accepting of Alear's Colgate/Pepsi hair than what I've seen outside Serenes Forest. Honestly, that's nice to see compared to people straight up hating it. Though I did make it seem like I don't like the toothpaste hair, didn't I?

Well, I'll extend my opinion on Alear's design in that case: Alear's outfit itself looks really good (more so the Male variation than the Female one IMO, but both still good nonetheless) and the split hair & eye colors give Alear an interesting look that I think looks pretty solid together, though it shall take a little getting used to (Surprised no one's made a fusion joke yet, to be honest). That being said, I stick with my opinion that Alear looks better with a single eye and hair color, no matter how generic it may be. But hey, if they manage to tie some kind of story aspect to Alear's hair and give a potential reason behind it, that would most certainly be interesting to see.

Well, there's always Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It may be just the game that could get you back into the series (If you want to play it, anyways).

    TMS SWEEP LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ok jokes aside, it's definitely not a true crossover between the two series but i'm not really sure how you could do that beyond just fanservice.

As it stands right now tho, it is the best MegaTen game i've played, of which i've played three and have yet to beat one of them.

Alright, you got me with the second "TMS SWEEP" comment. Have a virtual chocolate-chip cookie. 🙂

Fair enough. A true crossover in my eyes would just amount to lots of fanservice, so it's probably for the better that we got something more original while combining parts from both IPs. I can give the game that, at least.

If we're counting the Persona games among the SMT games (It's a spinoff series, technically I think, but close enough), then Persona 5 Royal is my personal favorite. Well worth the days of my life that I wasted on that game. Not sure if I want to do it all again for the Switch version, though.

    1 hour ago, Armagon said:

I hope this implies you have Xenoblade X.

Ah yes, Xenoblade Chronicles X, I have that on my shelf, right? *Scans catalogue of games with increasing discomfort* Huh, I guess I don't. Armagon, Interdimensional Observer and others who own or have at least played XCX won't call me out on it, right? Well, Xenoblade Chronicles: DE, 2, and 3 are all the Xenoblade I need to prove that I'm a tried and true, Grade-A, Grass-Fed, Gluten-Free XenoEmblem fan!

    TMS SWEEP LETS GOOOOOO

Me, seems like a good way to start the year. Though I doubt I'll pop off like I did this year, there's already a few releases I'm looking forward to. Engage, Atelier Ryza 3, Tears of the Kingdom, Rune Factory 3.

Hard disagree because it's not funny and just makes them generic.

Hate to be a killjoy, but I was being sarcastic when I said I "liked TMS to pieces". In actuality, I've got mixed feelings on the game overall. The Persona fan in me likes the game, but the Fire Emblem fan in me doesn't. It just feels more like a Persona game with Fire Emblem elements and characters thrown in than a true crossover between both IPs if you ask me (There's also the whole idol thing that I don't care much for among a few other things, but I'll just leave at that). Doesn't mean I hate the game per se, just one I'm not the biggest fan of.

My 2023 Wish List so far is: Fire Emblem Engage, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Breath of The Wild 2, basically), Pikmin 4 (Finally!), Resident Evil 4 Remake, Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name, and Like a Dragon: Ishin.

You've got a point there. There are more blue-haired lords and red-haired lords in FE than PS3 games I've ever played. I will say that the blue + red hair combination is unique, but a singular hair color would've looked better in my opinion.

Tokyo Mirage Session cross Fire Emblem is going to be the final Wii U title I ever purchase.

I'm really looking forward to what it'll bring to the table and what new discussions will come from. I've put fourth my critiques of the trailer but I've yet to dislike a Fire Emblem game so I'm excited.

If I have the money I'll definitely get the special edition, I love artbooks and shit like that.

Not buying TMS #FE Encore on Switch, eh? Granted, I own it on Wii U anyways, so...

Same. It's looking to be a really good entry based on the trailer. Now could it be my new favorite FE? That's a high bar to cross, so probably not. But hopefully one I enjoy nonetheless. Looking forward to seeing what the final product will look like upon release.

Same, I tend to go for a special edition of a game if I liked previous entries in the series. It's nice to have some bonus collectibles for the game, too. And the poster looks pretty cool, would love to hang that up on my wall.

  9. We're talking about Tokyo Mirage Sessions now? Yay... I love that game to pieces. I could just go on and on about it!

Anyone else unironically excited for Fire Emblem Engage's release early next year?

Just gonna throw this in here and hope that it'll get buried in replies so no one really notices. I pre-ordered the Divine Edition of Fire Emblem Engage yesterday (Because I like to think I'm a bit of a gambling man. Only virtual, in-game currency gambling of course). This'll be the first Fire Emblem I'm preordering and getting the special edition for, so that'll be pretty cool. I must have the art book and poster of Pepsi-Kun and Colgate-Chan, you see.

Honestly, that one edit where Male and Female Alear have only Blue/Red hair respectively looks better than what we're getting. Not that I hate Alear's design. Their outfit looks pretty sick and I don't mind the dual hair colors all that much. I'm just happy to see that we're getting another mainline Fire Emblem on the Switch, really.

  10. Welcome to the Serenity Forest of all things Serene, Alear! (Must....Resist...Making An... FE Engage Joke...)

Hold up, where in the name of all things pumpernickel is your female counterpart, Alear? Last I checked, there were two of you, right? Unless... Ah, nevermind, my crackpot theories would serve no good in an Introductions thread. Tell Vander I said hi.

Only SRPG that comes to mind for recommendations other than Fire Emblem would be Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Great strategy game that one, looking forward to the sequel when it releases next month.

Wait, Triangle Strategy has a route split?

  11. Is both salty and in shambles about Fire Emblem Engage (Based on the FE Engage Salty/Chill Chart in the Teehee thread).

really hates tokyo mirage sessions for some reason

Best way I could describe my dislike for TMS #FE would be this: I love Fire Emblem, I like Persona 5 Royal (Never played SMT or other Persona games). Mix them together and you get a game that feels more like a Persona title merely featuring Fire Emblem characters than a proper crossover between both IPs. At least, that's the biggest reason why I don't like the game.

  12. Banned for being Wraith's eternal bestie rival. Few can produce quality support conversations like you two. Quite frankly, I'm jealous. (But I do want to see where this story arc is heading, so I shall be watching from the sidelines to see what happens next between Wraith-Sama and ping-Senpai)

In the meantime, who else hasn't joined?

New Fire Emblem trailer just dropped, people have lots of opinions of it, I made a political compass for such opinions.

Just tell me where you land based on your initial thoughts of the new game and I'll put you there!

I have not joined the Fire Emblem Engage Hype/Salt chart yet, and I would like to be apart of it as well.

I'd say that I'm very chill and hype about Engage, somewhere close to the bottom-left corner is right where I'd land in terms of my initial thoughts.

  14. I'd honestly get kind of depressed if Fire Emblem got discontinued anytime soon since it's my third favorite Nintendo IP behind TLoZ (at #2) and Mario (at #1). It's such a fun and unique series to play through and it would really suck if it ended.

WWYDI The prices of all past Fire Emblem games pre-Awakening suddenly dropped down to MSRP value (Ex. Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn, etc. would only be around $40-60 depending on the system).

HOLY CROW WHAT A DAY IT WAS FOR RGG FANS

DETAILS FOR ISHIN REMAKE WITH KUZE IN IT, MASSIVE INFORMATION ON LAD 2, A SIDE SPINOFF GAME, AND JUDGMENT + LOST JUDGMENT ON PC

    I'M LOSING MY MIIIIINNNNDDDDD

Hell yeah dude! Ishin gets remade AND localized, which is awesome since it means I can finally play the game when it releases. Gonna love kicking Kuze's ass for the 100th time.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon 2/Yakuza 8 has a release date of 2024 from what it seems, which is appropriate given the other games that will release before then. It appears that Kiryu and Ichiban will be in the game and I'm kind of indifferent about it. On one hand, it's pretty sweet to see Kiryu in another mainline Yakuza (or should I start calling the series: Like a Dragon?) game, but on the other hand, I feel that his story arc was completed in Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Either way, I'm gonna buy the game regardless because I've been a huge fan of this series since Yakuza Kiwami.

It also appears that Kiryu is coming back in the side-game (I think it's a side game anyways): The Man Who Erased His Name, which follows Kiryu's life after Yakuza 6 and before Yakuza 8/LAD 2. It should serve to be a good game to play before LAD 2 comes out, in any case.

Judgment and Lost Judgment have finally gotten a PC release, eh? Glad to hear that PC gamers can play these amazing games. I'm surprised it took longer for a PC release to come out than the Xbox One/Series X & S releases.

Playing through Lost Judgment on my Series X at the moment and it is a great sequel to the first Judgment game. New mechanics, a whole new extra style, and most importantly, MORE KAITO. I'm gonna have to get the DLC for Lost Judgment so I can play through his DLC story. I hope that Lost Judgment isn't the end of the Judgment games, I'd really like to see more of Yagami, Kaito, Sugiura, and co (or at least some kind of continuation from Lost Judgment).

    Oh boy...

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I want to see the haters cope and seethe

Fanservice. And they didn't even bother to put my man Alexios in the game.

It could be worse, like EA or Bethesda owning the IP.

Ah yes, that moment when you get off Serenes Forest for a few hours/days and when you get back, the We L(Ike) Hellos, Games and Teehees thread has 5+ pages added since you last posted in the thread.

Yeah, screw the haters! I want my Waifu/Husbando simulator in my Fire Emblem so that I can ship Alear with some other character and get a kid with Colgate-flavored hair. The game has magical rings in it for crying out loud.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who played as Alexios in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Indeed it could've been worse. While Ubisoft isn't exactly my top pick for quality games I know I can get excited for, they aren't the worst either. I genuinely liked Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Valhalla despite them not really being "Assassin's Creed games" (And that's coming from a guy who loved the Ezio Trilogy and stopped playing most of the games after ACIV: Black Flag). I also like their Far Cry series, though they have felt pretty samey since Far Cry 3. Looking forward to Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, that's looking like it'll be a pretty good game from what I've seen of the game thus far.

  16. Y'know, I could make a toothpaste-related joke about Alear's hair color, but a lot of other people have already said it so... I guess all I can really say is that it's certainly a unique look for the avatar character. Looks kind of like a cross between Marth/Roy (for Male Alear) or Lucina/Cordelia (for Female Alear). Did somebody in the FE Universe learn the Fusion Dance?

Anyways, great cutscene, looking forward to playing the through the game when it releases next year!

For the below video you can just watch until the 4-minute mark since the song basically ends right at 4:00 (or just watch 0:36-4:00 if you want to skip the intro part of the song).
