  1. Nice review, gotta say I agree with most of it. I also def agree that art design can be better but I have that problem with a majority of Switch games. Put Elden Ring for example, I played that game on the lowest settings capped to 30 fps on my really bad 2010 Laptop and it still looked beautiful at like 10 fps (Thank God I build a new computer recently). However, I think it's often a lesser focus of Fire Emblem games so I don't know if it'll be fixed anytime soon. Also the dissatisfaction with the confrontation with Edel and Dimitri I feel is more of the result of it not being a game like Metal Gear Solid or an Anime/Show where we would get more dialogue throughout the battle or get like an hour cutscene after.
  2. If I could choose anyone in Fates I guess it would be Beruka, she gets Fighter as an option but considering her Speed she doesn't do too well in the class. It wouldn't be too good but I just think it's funny imagining an assassin being a General.
  3. I do think that it removing Fighter from Keaton would instead remove Utility from Keaton. We already have Benny and Effie who are already strong in their classes due to Benny's absurd Def and Effie's strong offenses. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure Effie has the same Str growth while having higher Spd growths than Keaton.
  4. I would actually argue against this considering how high Benny's base Def is. The actual problem with Benny is the fact that Conquest Ai will not attack units they do 0 dmg against so Benny's actual problem is always having too much Def to actually be targeted. His Def is so dumbby big that you can literally not use him for two chapters unpromoted after getting him and he'll finally start to take some damage against physical units.
  5. Uh no... Man I might as well talk about FE Conquest on a FE3H board at this point, benching Arthur and Charlotte, two very valuable backpacks, is not good. Lets put this in perspective, Charlotte is the only female berserker in the game not counting children and Corrin. At S support she gives +9 Strength and +4 Speed. Giving these type of bonuses to Xander allows him to ignore tonics and still reach ORKO thresholds. It's an insane amount of extra stats. Arthur if paired with S support is giving +7 Strength, +3 Skill, and +3 Speed as a Berserker. Again those are insane bonuses for Camilla or any other female unit. On Lunatic difficulty this is the difference of getting an ORKO or not. Rinkah on the other hand is bad due to low bases, low intro level, poor class options for her stats, and better units being given at the same time as Rinkah who all have better bases. There is a reason why you want Arthur to get to level 10 as soon as possible and why Charlotte's base level isn't much of a problem. Uhm... No. There are times to not just use back packs but it's also ridiculous to think that all of the 14-16 units you deploy are going to be combat or utility able. Also you should still have a decent amount of the game left when you reach level 15. Plus you're going to need as much power as possible for the last map in the game. Malig Knight would actually be the better class due to 1-2 range option with tomes and axes but the characters with access to Malig Knight have too low of Mag growths to usually access it (other than Corrin and some children), Malig Knight also has the same Strength growth as Wyvern Lord while giving 1 less Strength on promotion. Trample is literally +5 dmg to essentially 90% of the enemy cast once you gain it and Savage Blow is extremely useful when your flyers are probably going in first and making the group easier for the rest of your team to clean up. To say Trample is the only one good point of Malig Knight is ridiculous when it's a Flying class so naturally everyone is going to want to be in that class at some point due to the map design of Conquest. If you think Draconic Hex is worth staying in Nohr Noble then you're overvaluing it, Corrin should ORKOing everything in a proper build or leaving them with very little hp anyways. The only reason you want to keep Corrin in Nohr Noble is because you used the early Heart Seals on other units you deemed more useful early on. Nohr Noble is not a class Corrin wants to stay in anyways and you should be class changing out of it at some point. Again Wyvern Lord's stats aren't so substantially better that you want to go flat out Wyvern Lord all the time. Malig Knight is good enough that it is still a consideration on some units. The two Wyverns I can think of that don't want to stay in Malig Knight I can think of is Beruka because she has such poor speed growths and wants as much Hp and Def growths as possible and Xander who wants access to Lances for Rider's Bane. If you can't think of better uses for the early Heart Seals then I don't know what to tell you. Mag boon Dragon Corrin who wants to gain Axe ranks as early as possible to gain access to Bolt Axe, Cav Corrin who wants Elbow Room as soon as possible, Jakob if Female Corrin as Jakob is so strong early he goes for one hit thresholds instead of doubling thresholds, Mozu for archer, Felicia if Male Corrin who has such high Mag and Spd that she can also ORKO, and a few other niche builds. To put it simply, a lot of people want Heart Seals and Camilla is objectively not the one who needs it most considering how strong her bases, growths, and class already is. There actually is a point, giving +1 Spd over 1 more Str can be worse on units like Camilla if she is already reaching doubling thresholds with Spd tonics. Berserker is also just purely better in terms of utility with Hand Axes, Hp+5 and Rally Str while Wolfssegner is going to want Beaststone+ if he wants to see any actual combat. Yes Byleth can work as an Enlightened One in Maddening but why when it's not hard to reach the requirements for Wyvern Lord? It's the lowest requirements out of all the Master classes and staying as a Wyvern Rider isn't even that much worse. It doesn't even require much planning you keep seeming to claim it does? It's like the most head empty build to put on Byleth.
  6. Ive notice that too, I had like 3 swordfighters impale themselves on Loius cause their one axe friend had attacked Alear while next to Loius.
  7. Honestly with Boucheron, I've found him good up until the chp you get Lapis as he is your only backup other than Anna. However he just doesn't get any levels at all and is moree or less just there to do percentage chip damage to help reach dmg thresholds for your other characters. On the Celine vs Clanne, Clanne technically would be better if you consider leveling him up but Celine comes with better bases (albiet like 2 points in magic and speed if I remember correctly) and is closer to promotion. Either ways I found both of them lagging behind anyways with Citrinne just being the best one as she has the highest base magic state if I remember and also can instantly promote and with dire thunder (S bond ring from Lief) is able to nuke from 3 range. Now that I think about it, there was like two runs I had where Clanne was already at same baases ass Celine for Mag and Spd.
  8. If you go into the FE Conquest forum section and ask if malig knight is good, I'm pretty sure everyone will agree with me. Malig knight's str growth's aren't even that much lower than Wyvern Lord and Camilla is going to want to reclass into a Wyvern Lord until she has had Trample anyways as your second seal economy is going to be low anyways early on. Camilla is going to want to later reclass back into Malig Knight anyways for Trample as it's that good. The easiest build in FE Conquest is also Corrin Malig knight anyways. And yes Malig Knight is not a class everyone wants to be in but everyone wants to get skills from. Hell it's pretty good if you keep Xander in Malig Knight for two levels just to pick up trample. Also whaat else are you going to use Charlotte and Arthur for? Arthur has horrible hitrates because of his growths and his Personal skill and Charlotte has no defense and her only choices are troubadour and Hero. Keaton is the only one who can actually be used in combat but again he also suffers from hit rates and wanting Beast stone+ which doesn't come for awhile. Eitheerways he still is better as a backpack than his actual combat and is better as a dual striker or backpack as a furry or zerker. Anyways, this is a FE3H topic anyways so I'm gonna move on from this.
  9. Masked characters like Conrad and Sirius. I think this is more of Gundam's Char Aznable influencing me more than Fire Emblem though. I've weirdly always liked Legion's design in a way. Though I feel like I still often forget about his existence. Edelgard because I like axes but am tired of shirtless dumb dude if they don't have a dragon or horse. Anankoss' final design in rev was pretty baller. Flame emperor cause I love those medieval helm faces. I wish we saw more of em but with the more uncanny designs. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
  10. So I haven't finished the game yet as I have resetted an ungodly amount of times as I decided like any other sane person that his first playthrough of FEE Engage will be a lunatic iron man. As I have yet to get past chapter 14 currently (Alear died to a 2% crit), I have a decent idea on the very early units while having closes to no idea on characters past chp. 11. Best: I mean it has to be Alear or Sigurd. Alear is great as they have a good str/spd growth (at least from my like 12 resets) and combined with her prf which allows you to be more willy nilly with your Engages is extremely valuable early game. Now when I also put Sigurd I mean the emblem ring. I think Sigurd is a dumb ring early on as it essentially turns Albert or Chloe from mediocre units that can hardly OHKO anything into killing machines. This is most surely due to momentum being stupid by giving you like +10 dmg for free. Sigurd giving BLD is also extremely useful for both Albert and Chloe as their base BLD isn't that great. Most Disappointing: The princess mage you get with Celica, I mean she is like only 2 stats above Clanne in magic and speed I believe. However she comes at level 6 while Clanne is like level 1 or 2. This means she can get to promotion faster and from what I can tell (at least so far) is that you want to promote ASAP in FE Engage. The other is Lapis, she's quite disappointing when Cittrinne and Alcryst come on the same chapter and are instantly more usable than her. That is to say Lapis can probably be pretty good as she is in a backup class so I can see her being good. My last most disappointing is Alfred. I've tried a lot of different things with him and he only ends up feeling like an okay cav everytime. Sigurd can help patch him up but his speed and build is too low to double or avoid getting doubled. While his defense is quite good, his speed and mid build just ends up making him squishier than Chloe sometimes. Worst: Anna, I mean level 2 after chapter 5 and also low bases. Her personal is also not substantial and the only reason to use her is for backup stacking. Also I would put in Clanne's sister and Jean but they can protect other units which is extremely clutch when one of your units missees in a really bad spot.
  11. Understandable. I myself didn't realize FE engage was out until I saw the adverts in the subway trains lol. Wasn't sure if it was a global release tho at the time lol. I just arrived back in America like three days ago and bought Engage while jetlagged out of my mind. Honestly I think it's quite impressive you blogged so much of your run. Honestly I remember I started writing a Maddening guide for my friends who also played FE3H a year after the game was released. I still haven't finished it past the unit reviews LOL. Anyways, nice builds but I want to argue one thing. TrAshe deserves a 2/5 cause the best use of him is a meat shield or to not have to buy keys >:D (joking)
  12. Okay this makes more sense if you haven't played FE3H maddening before. If you played up to hard it makes sense you will have a substantially different experience. I would say in Hard, the might bonuses from axes is usually a non factor. But also in Hard, sword classes can actually remain relevant till end game whereas in Maddening they begin falling off near the end of part 1 and only really because Catherine is such a Jagean. Also no, malig knight and berserker are not supbar in feconquest. That is like a blue sun hot take, Malig Knight has the combination of the best skills in the game with access to Tomes and Axes while Berserker is highly sought out as a backpack and parent. It's literally why Keaton often gets reclassed into a Berserker and his daughter also ends up becoming a backpack either as a wolf a zerker. The certification for Wyvern Lord is also so absurdly low that you can actually reach qualifications for two separate classes on certain units pretty reasonably. It allows for ease of planning so where a cav might be hindered in some maps because of trees, Wyvern Lord comes in while the extra dmg from Lancefaire or Bowfaire will be more appealing on other maps.
  13. I HAVE RETURNED TO CLEAR MY NAME. I was in Japan and kinda forgot about this forum lol. I MIXED UP LINDHART'S PERSSONAAL SKILL WITH HIS CREST WWHOOPS
  14. Fire emblem needs a masked antagonist like Char from Gundam 0079. Can you imagine how awesome that would be????
  15. Unironically I popped off when I saw Phila was getting released on FEH and literally I made this profile pic in MS paint the day I saw her artwork lmaoooo. Soleil best girl :D. She's like the only reason I always end up using Laslow in my FE CONQ runs lol.
  16. At least for me Live to Serve was never really used past chapter 3 on purpose. Catnap is also not good but at least it can help with turn economy late-mid game. Though ngl it usually doesn't make too much a difference and is incredibly inconsistent to activate. I agree that warp isn't the end all be all but what other selling point does any of the other healers have? You generally don't even have recruiting healers as a priority and they honestly don't have many selling points. The only thing I can think of wanting to recruit any healer is Warp or paralogue.
  17. Or maybe a just straight up lunatic? Not like Tharja/Rhajat but like Micolash/Hyness as a villan or ally I guess.
  18. Now that I've thought about this a bit more I would like to see an archtype that I think would never show up in this game but still. I would like a masked character to come back but instead of being some relative of one of the main cast or some edgy broody dude I would like it to be someone with actual intrigue. Edelgard kinda did it with the whole Flame Emperor but instead of Edelgard doing it for her ideal world or something I'd just like some masked dude who is your rival but also wants to backstab the ppl he works for purely out of self interest/revenge. Essentially I want a Char clone in Fire Emblem cause that would be baller as hell.
  19. You can, just make sure you only pull the small blue ones and essentially let anything bigger pass. It's still like a 20% chance for it to be a fish that gives PEXP. Honestly, not worth the effort and last time I tried to be efficient/optimal about it I wanted to end myself. It is the definition of insanity.
  20. I agree you should generally be recruiting Linhardt always if just for the paralogue but also Warp is really good? If you're going to recruit a healer and use them Linhardt has the most incentive to recruit out of house, especially without DLC. Your only other two options without DLC will be Lysithea or Manuela and having two warpers is extremely useful. With two warpers you can warp chain allowing you to skip maps more easily. Unironically Catnap is prolly one of the better personal skill of the healers since they generally have bad personals except Dorothea's early game healing with hers. To talk about the Magic Sniper Mercedes/Hubert build is to talk about efficiency. To put it simply does making Mercedes/Hubert a Magic Sniper actually create competition between normal Snipers or does it open up a new option. The answer to both of these is no. Is it a bad build though? No. Magic Sniper isn't a bad build and generally anyone can pull of using a Magic Sniper Mercedes run in Maddening. However, we also have to consider the reasons to choose Sniper over the more standard builds on Mercedes/Hubert and what the trade off is. Both Hubert and Mercedes are low investment units who generally don't need to much focus on their skills or classes to be and stay useful. Mercedes is a perfectly fine candidate to become a Bishop/Gremory and Hubert is perfectly serviceable as a Warlock. This is mostly due to their innate spells list which allows them to stay low investment and stay useful even at low levels. However, if one chooses to make them a sniper they must contend with other units in your party for exp. This may not be as big of a problem in other routes but in a route like CF which is shorter than other routes it can become a problem. Becoming a Magic Sniper also does not make them a better unit than other Snipers. For example a Sniper Ashe would be a same tier unit that is a Magic Sniper Hubert/Mercedes simply because they will be ORKOing everything a normal Sniper could have already one rounded except for Armor units like Fortress knights. However, killing Fortress Knights isn't a significant enough of a boon for a Magic Sniper to be a better option as Mages can already do that regardless of them being a Magic Sniper. Hubert specifically is also losing utility when becoming a Magic Sniper, most notably Banshee and Mire. Banshee gives an insane amount of utility to Hubert due to the -5 mov penalty brought upon it's target. This can allow you to create choke points or to simply delay an enemy from reaching a certain point. Mire of course can set up kills while also making Monsters that can't really get ORKOed easier to kill. So in terms of efficiency, no Magic Sniper would not be something that justifies itself to always use. On the other hand you can use it quite easily and it is a good build. Like most builds in FE3H it can help break the game and simply put FE3H is a game that is easily broken with any decently thought out build and to say Magic Sniper is bad is a bit disingenuous. To be honest I do think that Chapter 17 isn't too much of a case for Magic Sniper as that map is generally the best map to use every Amyr use to skip in my honest opinion. To be honest I don't even remember the last time I've done that map without just Amyr skipping it with Edelgard. On the other hand Chapter 18 is a map that Magic Sniper wouldn't be too bad just due to all the Armor Knights. It's something a Sniper wouldn't normally be able to ORKO and Magic Sniper should be able to ORKO the ones a normal Sniper could. Of course this is assuming you just ignore all the golems and don't agro any of them.
  21. I unironically was sad as a kid when I found out Phila wasn't going to join my army and instead died. I also really like Soliel and I feel like I'm the only Soliel simp alive.
  22. I actually agree that it isn't a problem if a character does not develop depending on how the story handles the character. For example, it would be bad if characters like Edelgard and Dimitri did not develop throughout their story. On the other hand, Sam from the lotr book barely has any character development but is still a great and likable character.
  23. Maybe it's just me but I find healers in general getting benched mid game and late game of FE3H. There are very few times where I have thought a healer was essential especially with utility gambits or just mages having nothing better to do a lot of turns mid and late game then heal. I think having Linhardt is going to generally be better than Mercedes who only really has a better offensive spell list when Linhardt's spell list should generally be enough and they generally aren't looking to be attacking a lot anyways. As Linhardt actually can open up new strategies while Mercedes will generally not I would say Linhardt is someone to consider more often than Mercedes.
  24. Oh yea tournaments give 100 exp more I forgot about that. Also you get about like 100 exp, usually a little less, from the Flayn fishing, so it's the same as failing a tournament or eating/singing with someone who dislikes it. If you save scum after each fish you could probably get up to 500 exp from Flayn fishing assuming you get a fish that gives exp with each bait.
