  1. Fair enough. If you ever picked it up again I suggest getting the easy "bad ending" and that allows you to sustain levels and learned skills through repeat playthroughs, making the other endings much easier to obtain. The bosses are definitely huge difficulty spikes too. I really did enjoy how vastly different some of the scenarios played out, though.
  2. The first Devil Survivor is quite short even with multiple endings accounted for, but it is pretty fun. Overclocked for the 3DS shouldn't be too hard to track down. Not sure about the length of the 2nd game though I heard it was longer.
  3. From some anecdotes I read online, mental health care workers in Japan don't really get that much support at their jobs to care for the most vulnerable patients. In fact most Japanese people overwork themselves from a strict social hierarchy within the workplace that causes workers to neglect their own health for the sake of looking good to superiors. From what I know of mental care facilities and a recent but gut wrenching personal story from a friend, the mentally ill in particular can be cruel and abusive especially as they go through schizophrenia or aggressive forms of dementia/Alzheimer's. I guess this particular worker had the job wear him down so far that he snapped. Mental health care is truly brutal on those administering treatment and can lead to PTSD from the many incidents that crop up. I do not feel sympathetic for the killer but it is a rough job. Unfortunately some lived ones senselessly lost their lives. Japan and other countries should be more vigilant in screening the mental health of their own workers, but there is rarely room in the budget to do anything.
  4. Brief summary of thoughts: -There were multiple witnesses involved and it seems that everyone can agree that Hyuga touched VikkiKitty inappropriately during the night and was kicked out of the room for doing so. -VikkiKitty coming forward immediately was necessary and Hyuga's removal from the tournament is justified. Brushing the incident under the rug and allowing Hyuga to finish the tournament sends a message that you can get away with inappropriate contact with other attendees. People would demonize her and ask why she didn't come forward sooner if they had kept this information to herself. Alex Strife is still fresh on everyone's minds and the Smash community allowed that scumbag to operate in the community for too long. -Hyuga should also probably be banned from tournaments until the whole thing blows over since it's pretty much impossible to force him from abstaining from alcohol without being on house arrest or something. -I don't think Hyuga should be banned from his locals but that's up to the Mexican scene to decide. -I don't think VikkiKitty was wrong to speak up on Twitter for something that is VERY serious and that happened directly to her. People didn't crack down on Alex Strife's shit for so long and let him get away with so much before ousting him from Apex 2015. I don't think the Smash community wants anything like that to happen again where some high profile player has misdeeds glossed over for years. -Nick Riddle went too far dumping a private conversation. That's on him. VGBC put out a much more professional statement when they dropped their sponsership of Hyuga. -Yes this is causing drama but overall I think the right call was made. No criminal charges laid as there was an acknowledgement that Hyuga was not in the right state of mind and that VikkiKitty did not deem the incident serious enough to warrant police intervention. But not allowing Hyuga to participate in the tournament and sending him home is absolutely the correct response. And since you can't just send him home with a "no comment" without people blowing up at you on social media, they gave out their reasoning. Hyuga apologized to the community and in the short term people are going to flame him, but if he is sincere and manages to be incident free in tournaments held closer to home, I think he'll be allowed to come back to other events.
  5. Yeah, light magic sucks a lot in this game and other than mag/res/luk, Rhys just doesn't scale well into the game. He's useful early and their growths are very samey when strength is taken out of the picture, but Mist is more flexible keeping up with cavalry. She might lose a panel or two of physic range but her horse makes up for it and allows her to use heal/mend/recover more often since she keeps up with the paladins. She also starts with a higher speed base and at a lower level than Rhys so she gets the chance to outpace him all game in that respect. I prefer using Mist + Soren/Ilyana/Tormod and maybe Elincia in the lategame instead of using Rhys for anything. Staff rank is easier to come by than other weapons too.
  6. I get the feeling Triage is an Extremespeed+ priority as opposed to normal priority like Prankster or Gale Wings. The wording is different. Otherwise Prankster would outclass it. In this case, it means you will always get your heal off instead of hoping your priority doesn't get outsped by Talonflame or something. If it learns Heal Pulse or something and has better BST than Cherrim perhaps it will be a good addition to a doubles team.
  7. Exeggcutor was good back in gen 1... highest non legendary special in the game. Psychic was also a great subtype back then instead of one that is easily preyed upon. Tangela was the only pure grass type in gen 1. Every other grass Pokémon was a dual type with the overwhelming majority being grass/poison. And then we still got Roselia and Foongus.
  8. They also taste amazing, so if you ever get a chance to try one, you should. No wonder those Pokémon get eaten.
  9. That fruit Pokémon is definitely a mangosteen. The giveaway is the white flesh bits at the bottom. They are a popular fruit in Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
  10. Yeah, I don't have any issue with Boyd's speed personally. Some people do. 50% not bad in this game at all but it still has potential for screwage. In my case I will save scum BEXP level ups for Boyd if need be and his growth spread is really ideal for what he needs to do. His CON and his strength are just too valuable for me to leave behind compared to the noodle armed myrmidons.
  11. Boyd might have speed issues but at least he is there for the whole game with amazing strength. Enemies in this game also aren't likely to double him except maybe endgame swordmasters. You could replace him with Largo later on if he gets stat screwed though, they are similar enough. Largo just doesn't appear until chapter 25 of a 29 chapter game. That's a long time to wait, especially when Solo has already been completed. Also I agree Titania and Jill are better units than Boyd overall and they do compete for axes, but I still do want some foot units with decent con and Boyd happens to have the best availability.
  12. Honestly I don't find any of the swordmasters to be particularly good in this game. Though 100% activation rate Vantage is cool, Mia isn't strong enough for most of the game for her preemptive attack to be that useful. That said they aren't bad, just Ike, Boyd, and to a lesser extent Nephenee (ughh that E rank lance...) have an easier time of things, and the latter two can use a hand axe/javelin respectively for 1-2 range through most of the game. Best units: -Do they ride a horse? Good unit. Universally. There are very few maps that punish a cavalry-centric army. -Do they ride something that flies? GREAT unit. Marcia and Jill will break the game over their knees from very early on. Tanith brings an additional 6 semi-controllable units with her to every map she can be in. Incredible. Bows also don't do as much effective damage in this game to boot. Several maps practically require flying units. -As far as infantry goes, Ike and Boyd are the strongest. They're both available for pretty much the entire game too. -You want at least 1 mage and it doesn't really matter who you pick. They all have something going for them. Calill is a strong pick-up midgame. She's locked out of promoted staff utility but can use all the siege tomes. -Laguz are strong early game combantants but drop off because they only have their one claw weapon. However the tigers are incredible utility units. Mordecai comes with smite and is invaluable for positioning. Muarim can use the 2nd Smite scroll later as well. Reyson is the game's equivalent for a dancer but he flies and refreshes 4 units while transformed. Lesser units: -Armor knights. Doing armor knight things. Kind of a shame because Gatrie and Brom aren't that bad, they will just never make it to the enemy ever. -Archers. Shinon gets mileage early game but that's about it. Rolf comes too late for an early game archer and thus needs BEXP to be useful. Unfortunately Marcia shows up at the same time and is a god. Astrid is a better bow user since she has a horse, Paragon for double exp, and can pick up a secondary weapon upon promotion. -Mid to late game infantry recruits. To me this means Devdan onwards. Their bases and growths are fine but since BEXP is so plentiful it's easier just to continue using the units you've been training from before. -Sothe. Steals for free, but since money isn't that much of an issue Volke is generally better and he also promotes. -Dragon laguz. They join too late. [spoiler=Endgame]-Naesala. The laguz royals in general don't contribute anything really but Naesala in particular can't hurt Ashnard due to lack of stats. Giffca is best pick FYI.
  13. Most people wouldn't ship a lot of characters without supports. Those are what flesh out the character, after all. Ike x Lethe is about Ike's desire to spar and Lethe's desire to outdo beorc. Not the greatest of supports but it does establish that Ike really enjoys training with someone who doesn't necessarily use a sword because he learns something new out of it. People considering Lethe to be a romantic partner for Ike with a tsundere personality based on how she treats all her closest companions. Most people don't ship Ike x Titania romantically as it establishes Titania as a mother figure for Mist and Ike and the rest of the base conversations cement her position as a "mother". Despite the reasonably popular assumption that Ike is at least bisexual, Ike x Oscar is a very uncommon ship as well. I also can't say I've ever seen an Ike x Reyson ship either. Ike x Marcia is probably more common than those last two based solely on how Marcia addresses Ike as "handsome" though. Without a support I still believe that Ike could be shipped with Lethe with their similar base conversations since Lethe is so competitive and so is Ike (and so is Mia for that matter, but Mia is focused on her fantasy rival who is NOT Ike). Canonically it is said that Ike learns the technique for Aether from Stefan. Gameplay wise this related base conversation just handed Occult to Ike as a skill scroll with the expectation that Ike uses it when he can, as the game doesn't have "free" skill slots in the same way Radiant Dawn reserves skill points for promotion skills and makes innate skills free. Honestly Priam probably doesn't have Aether because they wanted to make it the special ability of Great Lords exclusively in Awakening with the exception of Ike. I doubt IS really cared much about balance because of how broken dual strike Galeforce is, and forged Armsthrift Nosferatu/Brave weaponry. And the last point about Priam being potentially of Mist's genealogy, Marth is considered the descendant of Anri but he's descended from Anri's brother while Anri died heartbroken and childless. Marth is even considered the second coming of Anri despite this. Eventually Chrom and co are said to be descended from Hero Kings that seem to include Marth somewhere in there, and Lucina tries to capitalize on that, but she acts out a poor imitation and only shares minor visual cues, having to rely on Tiki's stories to learn about Marth's exploits in summary form. IS has never said anything concrete about Priam's claims as none of his supports go into his lineage whatsoever. The assumption is just to take Priam at his word but his parentage is even less clear than Roy and Lilina's. The Outrealms just spit out Ragnells and suddenly it's not some divine and godly weapon anymore. The timeline is in shambles. Like I said, everything is canon and nothing is canon anymore so feel free to disagree but there's no "right" answer here, but you also can't say there's a "wrong" one.
  14. So Monster Hunter Generations came out in English today...
  15. Braixen is somewhat girly looking with the skirt-esque fur but Delphox looks a lot more gender neutral. It's a robe like Gandalf or any other wizard in fantasy. However I feel like Braixen became way more popular than Delphox because Delphox's colour scheme in-game is so washed out and dull and brown. Meanwhile Braixen is just really cute and sassy and mobile looking.
  16. Fusing gets more powerful as you improve your apps. Eventually you can fuse something higher level than your current level with fusion booster and fusion exp boost. In the early game you tend to fuse for resistances more than anything else. Sometimes you fuse something just to fuse the result later on for an even better choice of demon. The possibilities near endgame are insane. I had some crazy demons on my side.
  17. Just because Lethe doesn't use swords doesn't mean she couldn't be the mother of Ike's theoretical children, to be honest. Lest we forget that Ike learned Aether from Stefan, aka a Branded, aka half-laguz. Somewhere down the line, one of Stefan's ancestors was not trained in the way of swordsmanship. Also, Priam never mastered Aether. He only has Luna and Sol and sword/axe/lancebreaker. Who else learns Sol? Mist. Obviously the game is just trying to include an allusion to Ike in some way, I doubt the developers really planned out who Priam's parents even are. In Japan, he goes by the name of Paris which was Ike's beta name. His existence is an Easter Egg mostly. In fact, Priam's personality in his support with the male Avatar is so hammy I honestly have a hard time he's related to Ike... his personality is more like Kieran's, and that would be... something.
  18. If a demon is higher level than your protagonist I don't think they'll even join you. They may give you items but they will brush you off. However if you have a demon on your team and the same one is with the enemy, you can convince them to lavish you with stuff. Also, binding an enemy (status effect) makes them SIGNIFICANTLY easier to coerce money from a demon! Once you get through the first two bosses the difficulty will drop off a lot. You might still die from some freak accidents but easy mode becomes unnecessary after awhile. Instead you'll be reaching for estoma sword (this game's version of a repel).
  19. It bothers me that the sun and moon in the corner don't properly match up as a circle. I would have rather had individual cases for each game.
  20. I actually think Janaff's age jabs are not because Lucia is particularly young as a beorc, but because he sees beorc ages as short in general. He makes a big point of it that he's over 100. Janaff also makes age jabs at Shinon, but Shinon is explicitly 27 in PoR according to the support with Janaff and that's not particularly young. Oscar is 24. We don't know what Lucia's age is but I actually think Lucia is just joking around at how old Janaff is compared to her. I've always seen Geoffrey, Lucia and Elincia as being at least older than Oscar/Kieran, who seem to be around the same age since they trained together. Elincia may be slightly younger, as she picked up a lot of what she knows from Lucia.
  21. The new Pokemon look really cute in the ingame graphics. I'm only lukewarm on the bear's official art but it looks so huggable in 3D. And Mimikkyu is just pure cinnamon roll who I want to love.
  22. We probably aren't getting a PS3 version because the packaging and certification costs too much compared to projected sales, PS4 adoption in North America is suitably high and the PC release tends to sweep up the rest, despite Namco's continually poor porting jobs. Zestiria reported had problems with frame rate on the PS3 so I assume Berseria will be more of the same issues and that it was designed for the PS4 and downscaled. Also I feel like Tales actually has a large cast of mature females to immature male leads. Luke and Tear come to mind instantly, followed by Jude and Milla. Raine is not the female lead of Symphonia but she is also the team mom and that's cool too.
  23. Dragonair only has a mouth drawn sometimes. In all the official game art it doesn't have one but there are a few anime shots where they draw one in on the underside of its snout but it was never drawn on the sprites and official art doesn't use that angle. Also the "Pikachu" is a very poor disguise. The real Pokemon is underneath. Same idea as Wobbufet where the tail is the real thing and the body is a decoy.
  24. Sugimori has never been the sole designer and he probably didn't design these. I think it's been shown the official art this time around isn't his doing either. 2. I doubt the lack of mouth is the issue. Otherwise no one would like Diglett or Magnetite or Dragonair. I think the bear is kinda unsettling from a variety of features... and that's the point. It's too generically cute but its disposition is unintentional murder. Though pink on black is a harsh colour combo in these washed out scans. I get the feeling it looks better in game but the official art draws it from its flattest angle.
  25. OH. OH NO. I SAID IT WAS JUST A WEIRD RED PANDA BUT... IT... IS THAT A GLOOMY BEAR REFERENCE?! From Wikipedia: Gloomy, an abandoned little bear, is rescued by Pitty (the little boy). At first, he is cute and cuddly, but becomes more wild as he grows up. Since bears do not become attached to people like dogs by nature, Gloomy attacks Pitty even though he is the owner. So Gloomy has blood on him from biting and/or scratching Pitty. It also happens to be giant and pink. The red panda features on Kiteruguma are probably there to throw off the resemblance.
