  1. Next stream! Yes, this is a very stream heavy week but it's a good way to mitigate distractions on my end so I can get all this stuff done! Edit: And a preview for you guys before I put up the transparencies on tumblr when I'm all done...
  2. I like Froakie more than Oshawott and Popplio yet somehow forgot it. I have no idea how it got missed, same with Fennekin though Fennekin was only missing from my initial sketchdump. Should be streaming at 10PM PST at the latest tonight (June 16th).
  3. WHEW CRISIS OVER Also I'm probably going to stream again tomorrow to colour these:
  4. First of all... This is Grezzo's original IP, being published by Nintendo. This is not 1st party Nintendo. With that out of the way, I'd like to say I'm glad that Grezzo has graduated from ports and spinoffs. Their port/remake work on OoT and Majora's Mask is nothing short of spectacular, even with the smidgeon of new bugs introduced these games more or less are the definitive way to play those two games for the average audience (ie non speedrunners). Triforce Heroes was slightly less good, with the rigidity of 1 or 3 players I found it impossible to play with my husband at home or with my friends at the pub, since it always seemed to me around 2 or 4 people. I didn't want to play online which made it less fun than Four Swords. As for this art style, it's cute but nothing terribly original looking. The gameplay reminds me of Fantasy Life which was a pretty fun romp. I assume this game will skew pretty young and might feel boring if there's too much plot involved like Fantasy Life's story. When the narrative's not gripping it does get annoying when the game is too chatty. If the dialogue is kept to a minimum like some early Harvest Moon games or something I feel that's just about right for a game like this, since I doubt it has that many surprises to trot out. I just hope they focus on making the gameplay fun.
  5. The is a giant maleficent aura over Hyrule Castle that you can see from almost anywhere in the world. It's impossible to miss. This game seems to be doing an excellent job with vantage points to see important landmarks.
  6. Thanks to Balcerzak for watching me stream for a bit plus my friend :D I got a bunch of stuff done~ Edit: Froakie is coming. I can't believe I almost forgot about it and Fennekin x_x yet remembered Chespin
  7. Yeah I saw disarming voice and Popplio does look very whimsical and fairy-ish. But what I'm talking about was image leaks from the official website. Something that was verified by multiple people through examination of the website source code at the time, though I think the website was patched up.
  8. I'd say this is even bigger than XCX. XCX was a big, beautiful world but you couldn't interact with the environment in any meaningful way. It was fun to explore but you had to put your probes in specific places and you couldn't manipulate anything that wasn't quest related. As much as I like that game, Zelda looks a lot more malleable.
  9. The early shrines look very easy to ease you into some of the new rune powers. These are like the mini challenges scattered around LBW but your rewarded in new powers, though it seems they can be done in almost any order? And apparently there are 100+ of these IN ADDITION TO proper dungeons. They've avoided showing off dungeons/towns, probably because it has something to do with the story.
  10. It would be cool if Rowlet and Popplio got evolutions like that, but don't we already know 1. Rowlet's gimmick is powerful kicks and 2. Rowlet will be grass/ground, Litten will be Fire, and Popplio will be water/fighting from the Pokemon JP website's accidental exposure of those type icons in that order? Cause those don't seem to fight the concepts that Gamefreak seems to be putting forth... And yeah, I reaaaally want Litten to stay a quadraped. As for Popplio, it kinda looks too feminine to be its evolution knowing that starters are 82.5% male...not that there can't be fabulous merdudes and that there hasn't been unusually feminine Pokemon in the past with an even/male biased split (Eeveelutions, Gardevoir, Braixen) but none of the starter final forms have ever looked "female".
  11. Zelda plays pretty loose with canon anyways. There are some events which are obviously placed but it's best to think of each game as its own "legend", with facts embellished as part of some retelling of stories with similar elements. There will be the obvious nods but the games are full of retcons and retellings so the canon is just a loose framework to play the games into a timeline. Also the more I watched of this game from Treehouse, the more I wanted to play it. The first trailer is good. But watching the game being played live is really selling it. This is really above and beyond the scope of anything Nintendo has ever done before since the transition from 2D to 3D.
  12. If anything this is a return to the NES games, rendered in far better graphics. Plus these gameplay snippets are intentionally avoiding story bits and town interactions.
  13. Well I mean these are just people voting. Not like we can go out and change people's opinions. And who knows, maybe Oldbag is more hilarious and less grating in the JP version, hence the popularity compared to here.To me the big surprise is that Godot is still super high in the list, having been in only 1 game. And Kristophe is also pretty high up there too. And yeah, looks like Athena wasn't popular at all in Dual Destinies. I'm not shocked... she was definitely divisive.
  14. It could be electric/grass if you wanted to push some original typing. Would be cute with some leafy ears. Though the colour scheme is reminiscent of a ground type, it's also similar to Raichu and Dedenne who are pure electric and electric/fairy so anything goes really.
  15. I'm gonna be streaming some art since I have a bunch of Pokemon sketches to flesh out. https://picarto.tv/XYRAFHOAN
  16. The first game already had killed off Mia in the 2nd case to bring in Maya and establish the concept of spirit channeling. Shu Takumi might have been drawing parallels to a major character death early on as some shock value and to establish the game as an alternate universe. You don't have to be happy about it but the AA universe has turned the knife on a few characters in the series that weren't just murder-victim-of-the-week.
  17. Eh, Growlithe and other animal-based designs are fine too. Not everything needs to have a mythological basis. I think Growlithe is a really nice appealing design even if there's not much depth to explore into why it was made (though it actually has some elements of shisaa myths considering Arcanine's borderline legendary base stats). But I also think Trubbish, Garbordor, Klefki, Stunfisk, and Dunsparse, and a bunch of other strange mons people don't really like much to still be good designs. You don't have to love them but having strange garbage and sludge monsters and possessed inanimate objects roaming around adds an element of variety. They also have gel well with existing Pokemon as even gen 1 dipped into the inanimate object come to life pool with magnemite and voltorb. I think a better example of bad design is Vanilluxe, whose design sticks out like a sore thumb with features that don't look particularly Pokemon-ish. Its face doesn't seem to match up with anything else in the game. People make fun of it for being ice cream but it just looks out of place. Or the evolved elemental monkeys who have a theme through their line but don't communicate the theme well in their 2nd form. Again, their poses and design elements don't seem to fit in well with other Pokemon. Druddigon is another offender with its odd and garish colour palette. And as to not just pick on gen 5 for poor design choices (probably spurned on by a need to populate the Pokedex again fully), gen 4 had Ambipom who just had weird phallic fingers on its hand tails... Or hell, gen 1's Mr. Mime and Jynx. Truly bizarre humanoids who gave way to other bizarre humanoids... That said gen 5 may have had the least consistent good designs but we got some pretty godly ones in Whimsicott, Liligant, Golurk, Solosis line, Archeops line, Litwik line, and the Deerling line, off the top of my head. There's a lot of good.
  18. In most Canadian households we don't wear shoes in houses unless it's a brief visit and you're leaving right away. Honestly though in video games it's not worth the effort to make a seperate non-shoes model so I don't think it's lack of research but rather economy on models.
  19. I know some people really don't care at this point and gave up n the game last year or even two years ago. I knew someone clamouring for a refund from the Dina fiasco of 2014. But yeah, my fiance is one of the people who tried to do the survey on day 1, got a broken page, and forgot about it.
  20. The initial survey they sent was broken for the first couple of days so I assume at least some people forgot to go back to it.
  21. DHX and Man of Action both have their fair share of good and bad shows. Avengers Assemble didn't really get too good til midway through season 2 though. Not the worst they could do but while DHX has MLP, Slugterra and Storm Hawks in their stable they also have Rescue Bots and Pound Puppies and other toy sale vehicles for Hasbro.
  22. And yet fighting types are still terrible in the meta due to psychic being OP. Hitmonlee is alright for ingame use though, HJK is the best fighting move in the game. Just bear in mind it's only 85BP and not 120 like in later games.
  23. Hoo boy, the writers and producers are from some of the same shows I've worked on. Uhhh my hopes aren't terribly high on this one...
  24. They started late 2013, though some concepts were already complete before that. Nearly 3 years for this is pathetic... I feel like Azure Striker managed to do more with less and still come out in time and look way more stylistically cohesive. There's a reason so many indie games or small devs work on 2D platformers... the turnaround on them is a lot shorter. This game has been finished for a year too, just delayed for a bunch of multiplayer features and to launch on some Chinese company's Android device.
  25. The particle effects on the explosions are reaaaally bad. The outdoor shot in the video thumbnail is atrocious. But the gameplay does remind me of Azure Striker Gunvolt, maybe even slightly faster paced since it revolves around dashes. Cringeworthy trailer though...
