  1. When is the best time to start giving out stat boosting items such as Dragonshields and Angelic Robes? I have a caravan full of them, as well as promotion items, and they fall into the "Too awesome to use" troupe. But I don't want them to sit there for all eternity either. So when would be a good time to start giving them out to those who need a boost in something?
  2. When Wrys got killed in my FE11 permadeath run, I barely cared. If I was doing a permadeath run in one of the GBA games, I would probably care more.
  3. I'm aware of Seth's skills. However, I was using other units so they got stronger, and having Seth used only when needed. He may be an Oifey, but that doesn't mean you have him do everything.
  4. Okay, i screwed up on the title. Anyways, no. Seth was still using the sword he had since the beginning. He's only a promoted Lv.4, since I tried to limit his use.
  5. That one was also able to take off a decent chunk of Seth's HP as well. That one was the boss of chapter 9 in Eirika's route. After going through my options and seeing that Seth could weaken, but not kill him, that opened up a wealth of possibilities. The possibility ended up being that Seth weakiened him, and Lute finished him off with Elfire (and Lute getting to 10/0 in the process). I think Seth may soon be fighting alongside my other troops, rather than just following and talking up Eirika
  6. Why not use Wrys to use his magic at a place Wendall isn't? Or have two pirates take a watery shortcut instead of one? Also, since I'm doing a permadeath run, I need options in case the main guy for the job happens to fall. Better to train them early rather than use them when underleveled on the bench, or start from scratch with the game's replacement.
  7. Lets take Draug as an example. Draug starts as a knight, and you would expect him to have some defensive growths to take advantage of his tough armor. While he can shrug off hits easily in the early game, his 30% def growth says he won't be doing it for that long, and a mere 20% growth in strength doesn't help his cause. There is the 60% in HP, but not much else But when we reclass him to pirate, he jumps to 80% in HP and up to 45% in strength. And on top of that, he has 50% in speed, meaning he could potentially break even on some of the faster ememies (Hyman from chapter 3 is an example) and double up slower ones. He loses a lot of defense (that he wasn't using well anyway) and a bit of skill, but I think the change will make him a better all around soldier. And he can walk on water.
  8. I'm well aware of that, but a good soldier with a bad weapon will take you farther than a bad soldier with a good weapon. They'll eventually learn to use their new weapons well, and become better soldiers overall because of it.
  9. My ideas for reclasses: Draug:Knight->Pirate Pirate and Fighter are both identical, but Pirates can move over water Wrys:Curate->Mage Better magic growths, and allows me to have an offensive magic user. I also may reclass Castor as a knight, but that will also mean an extra soldier to train.
  10. Well, I moved Caeda in, fully expecting her to not kill him, and Barst to possibly die. I moved her a couple of spaces, chose the wing spear and watched... ... ... ... She got the critical hit! Hyman took 15 damage, enough for him to fall. And Barst lives on another day.
  11. One of the best...that would suck EXP from those that would use it better. I wouldn't have used him anyway, so it's no huge loss to me. Edit:After some number crunching -Barst may die next turn, with only 9 HP remaining. But the hit rate against him is 54%, so there's a chance -Lena may die if moved in range and attacked, but she has an even lower 53% against her -Caeda would survive if attacked, but her crit rate is 17% with the Wing Spear. So really, it seems to be up to the RNG.
  12. Well, I look at the stats and stuff before I do what I plan. I know Draug was going to be doubled, but he would also be able to weather the hits (only taking off 6 HP). Plus, I've had practice in playing through part of Sacred Stones before diving into this game. Also, Draug was just part of the plan to kill the boss. I tend to surround the boss and hit him with whatever happens to be avalable. I didn't think Draug would kill him alone, but he would be able to knock off some HP (if it would have hit). There are a few reasons: -It was a few years since I played any FE game, until I got Sacred Stones with the Ambassador program in December -This is the first time I attemted a permadeath run -I wanted to play through the prologue, and send Jeigan to his death instead of Frey
  13. Restarting the chapter is one thing I'm not doing. I'm doing a "dead means dead" run, and restarting because of someone dying is like cheating to me. Yes, there was some luck involved in getting me to that point, but that's no excuse.
  14. So it's basically Hyman's attack-Lena's Defense=HP lost x2? You'd think that the math would be more complicated than that.
  15. That's the thing, I don't know if she can survive. And Hyman will double up on her, considering her 8 speed.
  16. Okay, I'm on chapter 3, near the end (just have Hyman left on the board). I also have him surrounded by 4 attackers, who weren't able to cut him down like I hoped (Draug missed with his spear, and Frey with the Javelin). Barst got a large chunk of his HP sliced off, and is likely the one Hyman will go for when I end my turn. I believe this may kill him if he does. And since I'm doing a "dead means dead" run, I want to avoid this if possible. The only one that can attack is Cadea, and she can't do enough to him. And I fear that if I move her in, it'll be her head chopped off next turn, unless she's lucky enough to crit. But there is some hope for Barst. Lena can move in and heal Barst. But moving a Cleric into the range of enemy weapons is one of those things we're never supposed to do in this game. So what should it be? End my turn and let Barst most likely die, Move Lena in to heal, or use Cadea and hope for a crit?
  17. Dancers, as far as I heard, can only allow your soldiers to move and attack a second time in one phase. But don't quote me on that, since I never got far enough to have a dancer.
  18. Are there any LP's of Fire Emblem (screenshot or video) where the player has soldiers die, and lets their dead characters stay dead?
  19. That was cool. He started to follow along with his father, and grows to be a greater hero than his father ever was.
  20. Sorry if I don't share your ethusiasm, but I really don't see a reason for me to go out and pre-order it.
  21. I plan to promote Colm to Rogue as soon as he reaches 10/0 (and he's at 9 now). The reasoning behind that (rather than just waiting for 20/0) is that his job is to open chests and locked doors, nothing more. And a rogue can do that without relying on a lockpick that breaks after 15 chests. Since he has no supports (Neimi has been benched since I got her) gioves me even less of a reason to use him for anything besides that. Forde, however, is at level 10, but will probably be used regularily. So he'll have to wait for the Knight Crest that he may get.
  22. I toss then in storage and forget about them.
  23. I'm curious to hear how many of you restart a chapter because of one death, and how many of you just continue on without him/her? Also mention if there's special circumstances that have you make the decision one way or the other.
  24. I used the wrong term. Sue me. Sacred Stones is my first FE game in a few years, so I haven't really kept on track with the right terms
