What is an ideal number of units to have? Right now, I'm thinking of maybe having 10 active units, excluding Chrom (sinceyou have to take him) and non-combat healers (since they don't take exp from your fighting units). But what do you think?

Level 8 and currently at Chapter 5. Despite a 55 strength growth, he's only at 9 strength, 2 higher than his initial strength stat. Meanwhile, his girlfriend Sumia got 2 strength growths in both her levels, putting her at 8, despite Chrom being almost 3x her level.

I always sacrifice Jagen. Get rid of the Jeigan, and let his poor stat growths die with him.

If you have trouble with that because you don't know they can be recruited, here's a tip: Check the name of every enemy on the board before starting the battle. If you find one with an actual name that is not a boss/commander, they can probably be recruited. -
The only other ones you can do it in are FE4 and the upcoming FE:Fates

I'm looking at 1st gen, DLC candidates, normally unmarriable ones like Tiki and Anna, anyone that the Avatar can marry through any means. Are any of them worth pursuing?

Okay, what exactly am I doing wrong? I compare modifiers, I compare skills from the parents and what their child can become. Then I come here to say what I'm thinking of doing with X child. And most of the time, I'm doing the wrong pairing for optimal children. I'm not upset that people tell me I'm doing something wrong, I appreciate the help. What I'm upset about is that I can't seem to figure out these things on my own. I did learn some stuff in a short time, and I'm better at it. But except for a couple, I'm still going for the wrong pairings (and the pairings don't seem to make any sense from a personality standpoint either). So is there a rookie mistake somewhere that I'm making?

Okay, you convinced me. Though i liked the idea of a thief and a palace guard (if Sully is one) getting together. But not I'm trying to decide on whether Owain or Brady get Ricken (Laurent was rejected due to skill overlap). I'm leaning towards Brady due to the +2 skill and +1 resistance. But Owain does have one advantage, with only a -1 in defense rather than -3. Both mothers can eventually give Galeforce.

What about Virion!Noire? Same speed modifiers and better magic modifier. Unless she needs that extra strength point or a skill from Gaius, that may be a good choice.

Besides a few luck points and Aptitude, I don't see anything that Donnel can offer that Gaius can't. Though it's true that Pegasus Knight Kjelle may not need the speed boost.

I'll have to look at that on Youtube. I may challenge it, but considering my total failure at Lunatic level in the main game, I'm not sure.

Well, I was pretty much just telling people what I was doing and getting opinions on it. As of now, it's in game, but I do plan to get the DLC I'm missing one day And what do you mean by Apotheosis?

I'm just curious to know how well the troops did when you didn't have direct control.

Avatar or Gaius for Kjelle's father? Since she starts out as a knight, she'll know her way around a spear. So she could make a good Pegasus Knight/Dark Flier (even if her magic will be lacking), and these two are the ones that give her the best opportunity. Avatar gives her the better Strength modifier (+4 Strength) and Defense modifier (+2 Defense), but that's the only things he's best at. His skill modifier is tied with Gaius (+5 Skill), and his speed modifier is only +2 Gaius, meanwhile, only gives a +1 to Strength. But his Skill modifier, as said before, ties with the Avatar, and he gives a +5 to speed. She would lose a bit of defense, however. I'm leaning towards Avatar, since the +2 speed skill she'll pick up partially negates the speed disadvantage, while still giving her +4 strength. Thoughts?

I'm considering Avatar!Yarne (and, by extension, Panne!Morgan) A massive strength modifier (+8 Strength? Yes, please), along with Sol and a good chance of a massive Skill rating. What's more, they can go to Mercenary and grab Armsthrift, great for saving that Beaststone+ All I need to do is decide what Panne is going to give her children for her skill, and decide if my Avatar actually wants to marry something that turns into a massive rabbit and can slice right through him. Better not forget that anniversary.

So I guess I was doing things wrong when figuring out parents. But with so many marrage and reclassing possibilities, how am I supposed to figure out, on my own, the best options for these kids?

I was viewing him as his initial class (Myrmidon), rather than what i could turn him into. So yeah, I guess you can reclass him into a better unit with a better father. But with so many options, it's difficult looking at every single option available to you. I have to reduce the possibilities somehow.
