  1. Actually, it is read from where the standard monster effective weapons are (this is proven by my testing). After moving the entire hex string over from 8ADF39 to 8ADF3A, slayer stopped working. Once I move it back to 8ADF39, the effective list returns. When I moved the hex string over, I rewrote 8ADF39 as a seperator, and this nullified slayer's effect. And yes, you're right. It's just what I did before I discovered Ctrl + G because I'm an HxD noob lol. Now I use the actual offsets though.
  2. Um, you missed the question entirely Blazer, and answered something I already knew the answer to. I know how to repoint which classes the bishop slayer will be effective to. However, it only works if the string STARTS at ADF39. I'm trying to make it so that slayer directs from ADF3A instead of ADF39. Of course I searched properly, I know only the 0x8 is missing, but as I said I searched by class strings at the time; I still found the class list for slayer to be effective against without your help. So sure, it's 8ADF39, but I'm asking how I can make Slayer read from 8ADF3A INSTEAD of 8ADF39. Thanks for trying to help, but no offense; you should probably try to understand the question before you give an answer that is totally elementary and irrelevant to the actual question. Sorry, I'm in a pretty bad mood right now. It doesn't help that, based on your post, you're assuming I'm an idiot when it's your own fault for misreading the question.
  3. Can't find the hex string. I may or may not be doing something horribly wrong, but I can't find it.
  4. So I'll try to not sound like an idiot, but there are some very useful utilities that are missing from the current nightmare module roster for FE8. Now, I can believe that they may not exist yet, but I wouldn't let that stop me. So anyhow, moving on... I'm looking for the FE8 variants of the FE7 Spell Association Editor and the Battle Animation Editor. Unless the modules were removed on the latest update, like the palette association editor was recently. If the modules do not exist, it would help it if someone could either explain to me how I can make a module like that myself (and possibly point me to the hex offsets too... ;D), or what I can do to hack Spell Association or Battle Animation myself. Of course, you may have to put it in novice terms, since I'm not the most experienced or smartest hacker out there, but I'll do my best regardless to understand.
  5. Is this thread supposed to be in the general hacking section? I think it should be moved to the questions section.
  6. That's a good idea; I'll take it into consideration for the next patch. Noted, thank you for taking your time to make a comprehensive post. There will be a lot of changes during the next patch, one of which will return Caellach to his previous gender. Thinking back on it, Caellach was my favourite villain in FE8, and I planned on the genderswap as a tribute, but nonetheless Caellach will be coming back. Also, believe me, level 1 journeyman Ross was FAR worse. By FAR. I don't want Ross to be an effortless character, but I'm thinking of toning down his class power so that he can gain more exp during the next patch and grow faster. I would give that to Franz, except I don't want all soldiers to give crap for EXP. They're hard, yo. Also, Ephraim is evil. Totally not spoiling anything. Edit: If you say the difficulty is absurd, it makes me feel like I'm succeeding Only if you hack ;) The hack isn't finished to the point where you can get Marisa legitimately yet.
  7. I can't remember the details, but I believe your character needed to be level 20 to use it? It raises all caps except HP and luck by 5, and I think it raises your max level cap to 30 as well. That's what I could remember, anyways.
  8. Best of luck on getting back to form! Looking forward to seeing your progress with FE8 hacking. Maybe inspire a few of the others out there to go at it. I really like that you're doing a custom hack for FE8. Really.

    A new hack

Lol so hostile. Though I have no intention of helping TC with his hack either. But here's some advice: If you're new to hacking, hack FE7. FE8 events are much harder to pull off than FE7 ones, although you can get away with doing it for FE8 as a reskin. Start off by learning how to use Nightmare, followed by FEditor. Afterwards, go into hex editing and then events. ASM is last priority.
  10. Thanks. I'd like to stay away from just buffing player characters, but I'll work on the incentive part. There were at least one of those per chapter before, but I think you have a point. I'll need to increase the amount of Seth Killers for the next patch, and maybe add more for the finished chapters when I update.
  11. Yeah, Eirika can get a lot of EXP without much trouble if you do it right. Palla and Gilly can too, if you manage to hit up the southern village in chapter 2. I meant after Chapter 8, when the next patch is out. I'm not sure how far Seth will be able to get on his own mid to late game. Even with stats like those.
  12. Sup mate. Lunatic Classic beaten. Did not want to play Lunatic+ Classic. Fake difficulty is not to my liking.
  13. You probably should have used Neimi if you could have afforded one of the secrets, but I suppose you spent it on the speedwing. The shaman does good damage and has okay-ish accuracy, and Palla / Vanessa can be pretty handy if you managed to get the southern village on chapter 2, and Eirika is pretty good since she had a lot of opportunity to level in axe land. It's a good thing level 10 Seth's stats a bit better than that of a level 1 Officer. I suppose the game does forgive you for abusing Seth though, given that you'll get more worthwhile characters along the way (Forde, Kyle & Ephraim are all pretty good, and 5x gives them a lot of levels if you tried to minimize Orson's use). However, I assure you Seth won't be able to solo the hack.
