  2. It kinda sucks that camtasia is only free for 30 days though. I'll check out lightworks though since it's free. It may not be intuitive, but i'll give it a shot.
  3. I used vba to record the footage and then used windows video maker thingy to edit. I think it's when I publish it that the quality goes way down. I'll figure out how to get the video to publish at the right quality. I'll try out the camstudio codec thing as well so I can see which method is the most effective way to do it.
  4. Whoo congrats on the baby! It's no wonder why you've been away from skype. It's pretty awesome of you to have your work go public domain. I still look forward to any updates that you may do whenever you get the chance to. =D

  6. It's totally understandable. I'm potentially going to be a bit more busier in the near future. So progress on the hack will slow down (hopefully not too much though). I'm glad that you're liking the screens so far. The cleric doesn't have too many frames, so it was pretty easy to make a custom animation for her. Yeah I was fine with Rai's original palette, but now I like it a lot more. So yeah, it all worked out. =) I tried to use brown for the bow, but his gloves are brown too so it was hard for me to get the right shade. But I'll try to get the right shade of grey/white so the bow doesn't blend into Andros. Grey bow does sound like an awesome nickname! I'll most likely will use that for Andros haha. Going to keep working on the plot and gameplay. I think I'm 90% done with the prologue chapter. I'll most likely send you and the other beta testers a new patch once I get the plot all sorted out and finish the prologue. I think it's easier to send patches out chapter by chapter so that it's much easier to make changes before working on the next chapter. *throws confetti* I know that the internet is not the most flowery place, but it could be better, ya know? Although having tons of cats and rainbows on the internet is not that bad. XD Very true, I do the same. It just bugs me at first when I first see it. But then I just move on and do something productive, like taking a nap. Is that a challenge? XD Awesome to hear that. Although you guys definitely deserve a much better quality videos in the future though. They be blurry as hell. For sure I will learn how to edit videos so that you can enjoy more custom animations in a more crisp quality. Thanks, glad that the changes are for the better. I'm always willing to hear feedback/suggestions and what have you. It's the only way I can make my hack be decent and fun to play.

Don't worry, it doesn't bother me at all. =D What annoys me is if someone starts hating on my hack without pointing out what makes them hate the hack so much that they would need to spend time typing out the negative post and not offer ways to improve the hack. I don't really see the point of posting something like that though. I honestly find it a waste of time and energy to spout hateful crap.
  8. I thought the bow matches his pants though. XD Black is indeed tricky to shade. Gotta get the right balance to not be too dark that it's as dark or darker than the outline colour or too light that it ends up being gray. Well it kinda sucks that you feel that way, but it's impossible to please everybody. I felt that his bow should be a consistent colour once he promotes. But, I've only done the standing frames so far, so it can change in the future. So who knows. Glad you like the changes! =3 Even though it's ultimately up to me, I do appreciate people giving their opinions/advice to improve the hack. We all have our own preferences and I totally respect that. Don't worry though, a main character has a dark colour scheme. So you can look forward to that in the future! Lol, I guess the palette changes are more for those who leaves all the animations on (*cough* me being one of them XD). EDIT: Lol dammit ghast you posted while I was typing my responses! And now I need to respond to yours! Jk, Matt shouldn't be blamed, he should be thanked lol. I think he's the first one to point out making changes to the palette.
  9. Okay, I worked on Rai's palette and fixing the colour of Andros's bow. Hopefully it's an improvement and doesn't bore you.

  12. I'm liking that palette! You even got world maps?! Makes me want to start working on the world map for my hack. And you can select a mission in any order and it changes?! Geez this is an awesome update!
  13. Have you tried saving your ROM in FEditor, closing the ROM, and then reopening it? I think it's related to the checksum error or something like that. I can't remember off the top of my head.
  14. Ghast has made a video tutorials that can be very helpful for beginners. The first episode's about how to use Nightmare and FEditor. Here's the first episode. Second episode is a beginner's guide to making your own events, and some hex editing. But you should leave that till you have a good understanding on how to use Nightmare and FEditor and have looked at Blazer's Ultimate tutorial before you go into making events. Or you could go check out what event editing is all about, I can't tell you what to do. =p And here's the second episode. Arch has put together a very detailed tutorial for event hacking. So you can head over there once you feel comfortable with the basics on event hacking. There are plenty of other great tutorials to look at in the resource thread too, so do take a look at those too. They are there for a reason, so make use of them! This is just a VERY basic outline. Hopefully it's somewhat helpful to you. If you have any questions, see if you can find your answers in the question thread. If not, feel free to post a question there and hopefully someone will have the answers for you.   15. Going to bump again becuase you guessed it...mini update time! First screenshot: Fixed up Rai's palette since he's now a cavalier. Second screenshot: Made a custom animation for Elise since the original cleric animation didn't really fit her. I finished this animation before working on the tactician's, but I completely forgot to post a screenshot of it in action. Sorry Elise! Third screenshot: Got around to inserting knives into the hack. Although I'm still working on getting the animation to work. It works some of the time, for some odd reason. If it's not knives being thrown out, it'll end up being some dark mass being thrown at the enemy. So I'm going to have to figure out how to get this knife animation working 100% of the time. And I thought I had it working before. TTATT I've used the stats from Radiant Dawn for the knife and will probably use the same stats for the other knives. Don't know if it'll change or not, but that's what beta testing is for!
  16. When you said you inserted the sheet into the game, did you make edits for the affinity and weapon level icons on said sheet with the right palette colours? And what do you mean that the image is messed up? Do you mean that it looks glitchy in the game, or is the palette all wrong? You need to be specific to make it easier to help you out. List out all the steps that you did as well, that's also helpful. I believe the palette for the weapon level icons are the same as the weapon icons. It should be in the ultimate tutorial somewhere. Most likely in the section where it teaches you how to edit weapon icons.
  17. I have a rough idea of how the promotion animations will go for the tactician, but I didn't start working on them yet. But I did start working on Andros' promotion, so there's that. Plus there's other custom animations to look forward to. Although I should definitely figure out how to edit the footage properly so that it won't look so blurry when I upload it. Yes, behold the spinning weapons of doom! XD *insert You Spin Me Right Round song here* Probably will get shot for that, but it's such an awesome song lol. I can't take all of the credit for giving the tactician the rally ability. TheErrantShepherd brought up the idea and I just went with it. TLP's motivation was an inspiration of sorts, so I won't say that rally is better than motivation. It's kind of hard to take a different spin on the dance/play ability that would make sense. So I guess we can say that TLP "motivated" me to get the tactician to become reality. See what I there? XD The stats aren't set in stone yet. I'm still working on giving it the right balance. I completely forgot to mention that I'm working on tweaking the stats of some of the classes, so that's probably why the tactician may seem very squishy right now. Aw shucks, glad you love it! I need to figure out what song would go well with the animation though. For now it's "Minuet of Forest" from OoT, but that was before I made the tactician playable and was going to have a bard character. Not sure if I should stick with it, or if I should find something else. I think I'm ok with the number of beta testers I have right now. But thank you for offering. Should I need more beta testers, I'll definitely let you know. I should probably edit the op so that I don't have more people asking to beta test.
  18. Bumping cause it's update time! It's finally here! A compilation of the Tactician's animations (technically the class name is Strategist, but I digress =p). I apologize in advance for not having the greatest quality. =/ I'm still pretty new with editing videos so I'll hopefully figure out how to make videos look more crisp for future animations. Please enjoy and any comments, tips, and/or feedback is greatly appreciated as usual! The other update I would like to mention is that the tactician now only requires one class slot (originally I had to use four class slots to cover all melee weapons), thanks to Aura Wolf's Tactician Weapon Rank ASM hack that he made for me. So there is a potential that some time in the future, players may also choose what magic the Tactician will use upon promotion. So to SilverHairedFreak25, there is hope that you can have that dark magic/axe tactician that you wanted. Now that the Tactician's animations are FINALLY completed, I can now put my focus back on gameplay and continue with the beta testing to spruce this baby up and put out a public patch for everyone to play.
  19. Oh I see. I should take a look at the custom animation text. I think I can get the animations working by manually adding the STOP code at the end of the five animations to separate it from other custom animations.

  21. Oh right, I remember there's a tutorial on repointing. How would you go about expanding/repointing the weapon icons though? Haha, nice! Rai is indeed a cool dude. I'll try and finish the axe animation ASAP so that I can make a video that shows all of the animations. That is such an awesome idea! But what about getting the animations to go with the right weapon? In the custom animation editor, there's only enough slots for four animations, but with the tactician's rally ability, that ends up with one too many animations. Unless there's a way to do it that I don't know about. And then there's the tactician's promoted class to think about too. I'm hoping to have the tactician also have a choice in what magic to use upon promotion. Going by your idea, I could maybe set up an event to force promote the tactician and then have the player choose which magic they want to use and then give the tactician a tome that will help develop a rank for the chosen magic. Don't know if that will work out or not, but just throwing an idea out there.
  22. I don't have much experience with ASM, so I would not know how to use ASM to assign the tactician a weapon rank. It's been a while since I last updated, so I guess I should show what I've been working on lately.
  23. So I'm attempting to make a knife spell animation and I've run into a problem. The animation looked fine when Jubal attacks the first time. But, when he attacks again, the knife looks glitchy. Here are images to show a comparison between the attacks. So here's what I did to get this result: 1. First attempt to insert the knife animation over the ballista arrow spell animation in FEditor. 2. Then I used the spell association nightmare module to change the hero crest to have the knife animation (I was using the hero crest to try and weapon lock the knives to the thief class). I also changed the hero crest stats in the item editor so that it's a weapon now. 3. Tested the rom and I got the result. At first I thought that it was because I use the ballista arrow slot that could have caused it. I use 0x3E to insert the knife animation. 4. Next, I expanded the drop down list for the spell list so that I could select the knife animation when using the spell association module. 5. Tried to test the animation again...and got the same result. =/ So maybe it could be my script that's causing the issue? Here's the script: I tried to follow the Ultimate tutorial to make the spell animation. This is my first attempt at making a spell animation, so I'm sorry in advance if I've made a noob mistake in making the animation. Let me know if I'm missing anything, or need to clarify on what I did to get this result. Thank you in advance. =)
  24. I was thinking on the same train of thought as you. I just didn't know how to execute it. I'm going to have to look for that ASM if it does exist. I agree with you there. With the event script that Alusq posted, melee weapon choice is doable. It's just a matter of getting things set up in nightmare to load up the tactician with the correct weapon and weapon rank. Now it's the magic part that I need to work on.
  25. You might want to list the steps that you did to insert the song. That way it would be easier to pinpoint where you might have done something wrong. Does the original title them play instead of the song you inserted? Or just no sound whatsoever?
