  1. I kind of agree about that specific DLC set you mentioned. That's probably the most "necessary" one story-wise, but like Spark is saying they're largely meant to be optional and not essential to the story (like I said, Future ones are sort of the exception).

It is a great way to extend the game though!

  2. Hmm, well, classes I've always liked and continue to like would be Assassins, Wyvern Lords, Berserkers, Valkyries, Great Knights, Sorcerers, and Sages. The only downside is that some of these classes don't get very good skills, relatively speaking. I'm also much bigger fan of Heroes in Awakening (I really like their new design).

Classes I liked in other games better than in Awakening: Falcoknights (not as big a fan of them using staves as I thought I'd be), Swordmasters (dislike the design and they seem a bit held back due to scarcity of ranged swords), Fighters (dislike the design), Snipers (as in Virion as a Sniper- Noire is pretty good), and Paladins (prefer Great Knights for axes).

Generals and Bow Knights I've never really used much, though Kjelle makes a badass General and looks awesome in her purple armor. Other than that I'm still not a big fan. Shapeshifters I've rarely used in the past (including Laguz), but since you can grind so much and buy as many stones as you want in this game I've really enjoyed using them more.

The new classes I mostly like. Dark Fliers I've found to be very useful even disregarding Galeforce. It's probably my favourite new class (would be cool if they could all use dark magic, since the name sort of implies they can... I'm looking at you Aversa). I like the idea of War Clerics but I prefer Lissa as a Sage and ended up not using Libra. Kind of similar for Dark Knights- I currently have Tharja, Miriel, and Ricken in this class but mostly they just use magic and not swords. Tricksters, meh, not very strong and not so good with magic- prefer Assassins. They have good skills though. Dread Fighters are obviously awesome, and I'm curious to see if I'll like Brides as much.

I belieeeeve those are all the classes... :P

Edit: Forgot Griffon Knights... Well, that's pretty much how I feel about them >_>

Edit 2: D'oh... Also forgot Dancer and Tactician/Grandmaster, but I actually like these classes. Dancer more than in other games since Olivia can fight and is actually pretty good at it once she's been through a couple other classes. And Grandmaster is great!

  3. Why do so many people hate Roy?! As for Eirika v Ephraim, I have to agree that Ephraim was the better lord. Not only was it cool that he used lances, but his story was a bit more interesting as I recall. I really have to replay SS soon, it's been a while since I did...

I would probably rank lords as:

    Ike

    Lucina

    Roy

    Micaiah

    Lyn

    Hector

    Marth

    Chrom

    Eliwood

    Ephraim

    Eirika

...based more on personality/likeability more than usefulness as units, perhaps, but none have really ever been bad units for me, including Roy.

  4. Well, since I stopped using Frederick as soon as I didn't have to bring him into maps and never even started using Stahl, they kind of got stuck together at the bottom of my unit list underneath the mountain of SpotPass characters I haven't trained yet (and Libra, and Say'ri, lawl). They actually make a nice looking couple :P Damn you game for not allowing Frederick and Stahl to confess their love for each other!

  5. The other day I was training people on EXPonential Growth- usually I have units attack the level 30 guys with ranged weapons to avoid Counter, then if they survive that I finish them off either ranged or direct. So I had Severa directly attack a guy who needed one more hit to die... you can see where this is going. Miracle+Counter'ed. Thankfully she was at full health and didn't accidentally kill herself.

  6. Fought both, I never pass up exp and I find the idea of not getting Yarne on turn 1 to be preposterous.

I honestly didn't know recruiting Yarne was a problem until I saw people posting about it.

I fought both armies so I could visit all the villages.

  7. Owain (surprise) for his FE references and sword hand. Not to mention how amazing he turns out.

Henry manages to be so funny even though he should probably be disturbing. Plus he's just cute! Especially his "teehee".

Cherche for personality and looks. She hasn't turned out so good for me on the battlefield though.

Loved Sully since her entrance with Virion. Plus she's an awesome unit- not sure if I prefer her on a horse or a wyvern.

Sumia... Yes, Sumia. Tripping, punching Chrom, flower-fortunes... Works for me! I don't even mind that IS wants me to marry her and Chrom so badly. She makes a great Dark Flier.

    Gaius in general, love him.

Severa, Gerome, Inigo, Lucina for being kickass.

But really, I like all the characters except the ones I mentioned in the "Characters you don't like" thread XD

  8. I like Book of Naga, Arcfire, and Ruin. Tbh I haven't seen Thoron and other high level tomes very much (gotta love weapon hoarding) but I will likely allow myself to bring some into the final chapter whenever I get around to actually finishing the story (lol). I do miss some of the flashier effects from the GBA games though!

  9. Preferences dude. I find her English attitude in general more annoying because she tends to spout out complaints moreso than her shy Japanese counterpart.

Her "STOP STARING!" in English voice clip with criticals/skill activations annoyed me the most. It's not bad, but it sure as hell isn't the Olivia I know.

Fair enough! Attitude-wise I agree about her sometimes sounding more whiny than shy in English. I guess I meant I dislike the tone of her Japanese voice, just on a personal level. But this is why I like that they included both voice tracks in the NA release, yay for options!

  10. Yikes! Dude, in Fire Emblem the golden rule is no one gets left behind! You will get a couple of units in the main story still, but not very many if I recall correcty past where you are now. If you have any female characters alive that aren't married make that a priority to unlock more child units. As for grinding, if you can get DLC at all I recommend getting the Golden Pack -it has a really good map for getting lots of experience and another for getting lots of gold. You will want to hold off on attempting Infinite Regalia (also in the pack) until your units are stronger, though. Most importantly, from now on don't be afraid to reset!

  11. I was surprised at the difficulty! You should be able to pull it off even with just one Lockpicker if your other units are trained and properly equipped. Just remember not to take out the boss until you have the chests, get up to the top so you can take out the thieves, and check enemy range.

  12. Pretty sure you can do it by going to the character you want to give the item to, selecting the empty spot, and just finding it in the inventory (the character that currently has it will be visible in the background of the inventory list). Not exacty as quick as it should be, but at least this way you only move the item once as opposed to putting it in storage then taking it back out.

  13. I love this little feature! My favourite is Gaius' candy tree, especially because he married Panne in my file and it comes up in their support. I thought it was a Christmas tree and didn't get why it was there until I zoomed in and realized the ornaments were suckers :P
