  1. Uhh... well I can see what you mean if you consider the ''entrance'' a mouth but it's really hard to focus on that when you see a Pikachu being uhh... ''dragged'' by that thing on the top right.

    O_O

Ok... I'm going to go to work, if when I comeback and I see like 5 to 10 more people liking this thing, I swear I'll change my avatar for this thing and I'll pretend it's cuter than Eevee (it's not).

    Deal for everyone.

... Yeah, I'm. I'm just gonna pull a Cofagrius 2.0. on the "dragging poor creatures into its body and doing god knows what to them".

A certain level of denial and rug-sweeping comes with stanning Ghost-types.

  2. And remember, this game is aiming for a younger audience.

Are they trying to get new horror movies lovers or something.

EDIT: Ok I can't even... please to someone tell me what's so cute about... A HAUNTED SANDCASTLE.

I'm not even mad... it's just want to see that thing from another perspective.

A lot of it's in the expression for me. It just looks perpetually surprised. Plus since it makes smaller ones you've got this giant Mama sandcastle surrounded by tiny baby sandcastles. Absolutely precious.

  3. Some of the bios have been translated:

"Nuikoguma is very popular among women and children, and tops the lists of Pokemon people want to meet. It hates being touched and will kick and struggle to resist. It's very powerful, but once it evolves into Bewear it truly gains herculean strength

Sunabaa is a grudge that dwells inside a pile of sand turns into a Pokemon.

Truly a terrifying creature Shirodesuna steals the life force from other Pokemon. Those Pokemon's grudges turn into a new Sunaba."

Just as I expected, the Sandcastle Pokemon are pretty creepy.

Wow. It's like a ghost plague.

  4. Yeah, I was told that later. lol And thanks, I just like Disney a lot. :3

Also, I couldn't leave Moana out of this even if I wasn't using a lei Pokemon. She's HAWAIIAN. And this region is Hawaii. lol

Man, same. I have no idea what to even start naming my Pokemon (other than Rowlet, whose name is a science ref).

Though it's really tempting to name them all after Animal Crossing characters...

  5. Cool, the night right before I leave for a trip! :D

And awesome, MERMAID POPPLIO IS REAL YES YES YES!! I mean, that's practically a confirmation!

I've decided to name my team after Disney princesses and related characters, btw, because the Mermaid Popplio gave me the idea to name it Ariel!

    So:

    Mermaid Popplio - Ariel

Mudsdale - Philippe (Belle's horse, who is in fact a clydesdale)

    Ice/Fairy Ninetales - Elsa

Comfey - the Disney Hawaiian princess, can't remember her name

Pikipek - Aurora (because birds sing and one of the gifts the fairies gave Aurora was the "gift of song")

I'm going to name a Pokemon Jasmine too, because I liked Jasmine a lot.

You mean Moana? Technically she's Polynesian but... the actual Hawaiian Disney characters are Lilo and Nani.

And MAN, that's such a cute theme I'm yelling.

I'm not that lazy; I'll just type up an addendum with credit given.

Not trying to imply you were lazy in any way! But that works out fine.

  6. Another award-winning post for the OP. Thanks a bunch.

This; from personal experience, the RWBY fandom has art for new characters/designs up within an hour of their first public appearance. It's ridiculous how dedicated some fanartists are.

    No problem! <3

    Oh yeah, Vash, about Stakeout:

It allows the user to ''deal twice the normal damage if the opponent just switched into battle''.

So it's the exact opposite of Pursuit but it's an ability instead of an attack.

That's so cool! I'm definitely finding one with Stakeout then.

I'll edit that into the main post, but since the thread OP already quoted that one, they might just add your post on as an addition, which is fine because granted, my post is huge.

I still have hope! But it's dwindling quickly.

If it's not from the mouth of Nintendo itself, the amount of fucks I give is Zero. This happens so many times that by now I've learned not to trust leaks.

(Also I would trust that Game Freak would know that most of its fanbase is beyond sick of Fire/Fighting starters... so.........)

  7. And welcome to the Opinion Corner with Vash, I'm Vash, and Pokemon Things Have Happened Yet Again.

But first before we get into the brunt of things we have a special news bulletin:

    eb9121a7382302e0af3747249db80669.png It a ghost.

    Thank you for your time.

    Okay now for Actual Talk.

    • How on Earth did Exeggutor gain a solid 30 ft in height and the dragon type? What is in the soil over there? Although hey, it looks like a real palm tree. Cute. (Though imagine climbing a palm tree trying to get what you think is a coconut and then the tree starts walking. Yikes.)
    • I'm going to have to make a B Team for the Vulpix/Ninetails. And the birds. You can bet your ass I'm getting all four of the birds because I have no chill and need to be stopped.
    • And the Sandshrew is an igloo I'm. IT'S SO CUTE AND CHUBBY. Can I just... hold it. I want to hold it. It needs hugs.
    • If there isn't some way to give Tierno an Oricorio, I'm going to write the fanfiction for it myself because he deserves one. He deserves all of them. #GiveTiernoAnOricorio2K16
    • Okay so, I actually didn't care about Yungoos at all but... its evolution is name Gumshoos. It's -- it can have the Stakeout ability. Just. C'mon. It's perfect. (Also Looker needs a new Pokemon... and lo and behold... a Pokemon perfect for Looker... what a coincidence...)
    • Mudbray's alright. Personally I'm not too keen on horses but I really like the fact that we get to ride a Mudsdale around.
    • I also really love Lurantis? It's so pretty? GOSH DARN IT why does this gen have amazing Pokemon, I'm going to need like all of them.
    • If the trials really are replacing gyms, I'm both happy and a little bit disappointed. Happy because man, this is so culturally unique and gives such a special flair to the Alola region. My only disappointment is Dark Gym When, Game Freak.
    • I really like the designs of the trial captains. I can sense the fan favorite is going to be Kiawe but dang, Lana is so cute. And so is Sophocles honestly. I'm going to love him in advance because I'm certain very few people will.
    • Not having to need HMs? Man, I am fine with that. We'll probably still need like Cut and Strength and etc, I feel, but not needing to have a flyer/surfer around constantly expands your options quite a bit.
    • I'm actually a little sad it's not synergy but Z-Moves. I mean they look badass but that potential to truly bond with your Pokemon in ways never before imagined was an amazing concept. Shoot. (Though it might not be completely out... we don't know what that Z-Power really IS, for one thing.)

I can't think of anything else I feel strongly about. Other than that this is the best region since sliced bread!

    Also More Ghost.

    Love this tiny ghost birb.

  8. Stoutland appears as a Ride Pokémon in the Japanese Trailer, Vash. It appears to work like a Dousing Machine.

Thank you! I tracked down the image, so it's up in the main post as well. I'll change the wording, however.

    About Minior:

Apparently, his first form is a defensive form and also allow it to be immune to status conditions. However, at 50% of his health, Minior will break his armor, giving it a some kind of attack form. Source: Serebii

So this is some kind of balanced version of Aegislash.

    Good notes there Vash.

According to serebii, Minior's ability is Shields Down, which protects it from status affections and gives him high defenses. When it reaches HP below half, it destroys its shell and enters sort of an attack mode. This reminds me of Aegislash with Stance form. Hopefully, it is similar.

Regarding the captains, I wonder if Tapu Koko guardians share the typing with the captains specialty. Like 4 guardians with Fire/Fairy, Electric/Fairy, Grass/Fairy and Water/Fairy. Or if their typing are related to Oricorio.

I'm loving the Z moves and goofy Exeggutor. Rowlet BLOOM DOOM GO

@ Minior: So it functions more like Zen mode (I understand the Aegislash comparison, but you can freely switch between the forms at any time, whereas Zen mode relies on its HP). K, I'll edit that.

And that, is a very good observation there Quintessence. If that's the case, then we'd encounter Sophocles first. And that's what I was thinking too, especially for Kiawe. I'd bet actual money he has a Baile in his team. Though Mallow's Grass and Lana's Water typing doesn't match with the Pa'u or Sensu style Oricorios.

  9. Alright, here's a quick run-down on all the information from the new video!

    Alola Forms

Certain Pokemon from previous generations have adapted to the Alola climate in new and surprising ways, gaining new appearances, new typing, and new abilities.

So far there's been 5 new Alola forms announced.

    Alolian Exeggutor

    06733ee1061c81d10eec11ecec817f83.png

    Alolian Vulpix & Alolian Ninetails

    4a0ce8f4b493ecf3825a3a27074a22cb.png

    Alolian Sandshrew & Alolian Sandslash

    0318e8f9a5378e97a7dd62043f831450.png

It's also worth a note that every Alola form we've seen here has a brand-new typing! Well, sort-of. Exeggutor shares a typing with Mega Sceptile, but as Sceptile isn't normally a Grass/Dragon, it's up to personal preference whether to consider it as new. However, Ice/Fairy and Ice/Steel are without a doubt completely new typings.

    New Region Pokemon

We've also seen some new Alola Pokemon, including evolutions and pre-evolutions to Pokemon we've seen before. Counting the various forms of Oricorio as separate Pokemon (and not the different Minior cores as at the moment they seem to be only vary aesthetically) we have a total of 9 new Pokemon shown.

    Oricorio

    ca0ac6a10d59410419df2d505dfd3f7a.png

    d1545e2eca1f6401b8850c45423a7ddf.png

    135b558da25d93182734df909125d5f8.png

Oricorio is a bird Pokemon with typing variations depending on what island it's found on (unfortunately, matching a variation to a specific island is tricky due to the nondescript locations shown, however, it's possible that they're listed in the order of the islands you can visit). It's also unknown (but very likely) that each variation will have a different stat distribution. It has a new unique move Revelation Dance that changes its typing depending on the variation that uses it (ie. Baile = Fire RD; Pom-Pom = Electric RD; Pa'u = Psychic RD; Sensu = Ghost RD) It also has a brand-new ability, Dancer, which allows it to copy the stat-boosting Dance moves that its opponent uses for free.

    Minior

    929ead9ce7de68b51e539a34a172eb3b.png

    f528ca237390917cf25fdd984098e5a0.png

So far, it appears that the Minior cores are not variations like Oricorio, and are simply aesthetic differences similar to Gen VI's Flabebe. Shields Down is also a brand new ability that functions similarly to Darmantian's Zen Mode. At half HP, Minior strips away its armor to take on a more offensive stance.

    Gumshoos

    6954b107a52857de1805947d04e19c6e.png

As shown, this is the second (and seemingly final) evolution of Yungoos. It also has a brand-new ability Stakeout, though what it does is currently unknown.

    Fomantis & Lurantis

    78ca657bd1289c5c60950d4e69e3b063.png

This is a Pokemon of interest as well due to it having a never-before-seen move, Solar Blade, which appears to be a Physical Grass-type move. There's also a possibility of Fomantis and Lurantis being exclusive to Pokemon Moon due to it being nocturnal, but this isn't yet confirmed, though still worth noting.

    Mudbray

    90e8e14abb91ab146ba202ade8b45c1c.png

Mudbray is the pre-evolution of Mudsdale. (Also I'm not certain if the move it uses in the trailer is something new, or simply a new animation for Earthquake. Also worth noting just in case.

    Ride Pokemon

The trailer also shows off a new mechanic called Ride Pokemon, which is mentioned to be a service. It appears that this new mechanic will allow the player to traverse obscure or perilous areas with ease, and the Ride Pokemon can offer transportation over land, sea, and air. This also raises the question about the purpose of HM moves such as Surf or Fly - it may be likely that instead, you'll simply be able to summon a Ride Pokemon to take you wherever you need to go. Currently, the Pokemon available for this service are Tauros, Mudsdale, Stoutland (as seen from a previously revealed image below), Sharpedo, and Charizard.

    stoutlandsunmoon.jpg

    The Island Challenge

The Island Challenge is a quest your trainer can embark on to strengthen themselves, by travelling to the four islands and completing various trials in order to be able to challenge the Island Challenge Champion named Woo. Each Trial has a captain, that seemingly gives you the trial and then allows you to battle them to prove your worthiness for the next island's trial. Like Oricorio, it's difficult to place the island each Trial and its captain will be found on, however, we do have clues.

    Trial Captain Mallow

    f14162f8c54faca9abe7ca5562151fdf.png

Mallow specializes in Grass-type Pokemon and her island's Trial is found in a location known as Lush Jungle, and her trial may consist of finding four rare ingredients for her (or this could be a personal quest).

    Trial Captain Lana

    dec00f09ff5dcc9a85784388189cfdf7.png

Lana specializes in Water-type Pokemon and her trial may consist of finding the source of disturbances in the local waters (or this could be a personal quest for her.)

    Trial Captain Sophocles

    004a0981d25d88bf5b88756b54aabf4c.png

Sophocles specializes in Electric-type Pokemon, and while his introduction reveals very little, his trial may take place inside or around what looks to be his laboratory.

    Trial Captain Kiawe

    904d848bb11bc4211081a37f781bc6fd.png

Kiawe specializes in Fire-type Pokemon and his trial is specifically stated to be "quite different" than the others you have faced before, and explicitly is a test of observations of various dances. Kiawe is also interesting as it's a bit easier to pinpoint where he might be, as there's only one island that has a volcano (and seemingly, lava).

    6bf7f7f3260f03fa727019c2d1ef81e6.png

At the end of each trial, there will be a battle with a Token Pokemon, a special Pokemon with a powerful aura that boosts its stats and gives it the ability to call ally Pokemon to its aid in battle, resulting in multiple Pokemon against your one. Currently, two Pokemon we know will be Token Pokemon are Gumshoos, with an aura that boosts its defense and is likely fought at the end of Kiawe's trial, and Lurantis, which is likely fought at the end of Mallow's trial.

When each trial is cleared, you can fight the Kahunas, elite trainers of each island that will serve as the final test. The Kahuna for the first island (Melemele Island) is confirmed to be Hala, the old man who gives you your starter Pokemon at the beginning of the game. He calls the battle against him a "grand trial", before officially showing off his battle animation and introducing himself as Island Kahuna Hala.

    Z-Moves

Z-Moves are a brand-new mechanic, appearing to stem from the bracelet the player character wears. Z-Moves are an extremely powerful attack with 18 variations, one for each Pokemon type. The power that creates this attack is known as Z-Power, and is summoned by a unique dance done by the trainer. 4 of the 18 Z-Moves were shown in the trailer.

    Electric-type Z-Move: Gigavolt Havoc

    0e8207c077b2c820d0b6c2aa51f08130.png

    Grass-type Z-Move: Bloom Doom

    e4fce53ae9fcc7acbc73b45051a79912.png

    Fire-type Z-Move: Inferno Overdrive

    4a6b9a6cdc07731c7af3e063881d00ae.png

    Water-type Z-Move: Hydro Vortex

    85be593e567182e64099dd83402391dc.png

It appears to function for dual-type Pokemon based off the first type listed. I.E. a Flying/Psychic type will having a Flying Z-Move, while a Psychic/Flying type will have a Psychic Z-Move. (Also worth noting, is that the Z-moves shown also correspond with the specialties of the Trial Captains).

And I do believe that is absolutely everything! Sorry about this taking so long, there was a lot to record here. I'll post my own opinions in a separate post.

  10. According to Wikipedia some of these mangosteen trees exist in Florida...

Next time I'm in Miami I'll see if I can't get a couple.

Also footnote but I did get a front-facing shot of Mudsdale and I swapped them out. It's just fair that way (plus it looks really cool from the front tbh).

Those are bad. We don't talk about those Pokemon.

Paras is one of my favorite lines solely because it's zombie apocalypse AU bait. Where's my Pokemon/The Last of Us crossover?

  11. You got the horse's ass. Awesome. Kinda made my oh so average day.

lol, did you have to use a screenshot of Mudsdale's butt, Vash? :P I hope it has a pre-evolved form like the other non-legendary equines though. Cause just like Rapidash and Zebstrika, this guy looks like a completely evolved form.

And it's spelled Cherrim, for future reference. lol

... Oh my god. It was the first screenshot I got with all of its info, I swear that wasn't intentional. If you want I'll redo it.

And Cherrim. Yeah. That one. Why did I think there was a U in there?

@ Lightchao: I'll add that info in then. That's a really interesting ability - though that additional Fire damage is probably gonna suck quite a bit.

Although on the topic of Bounsweet (precious thing omg), there's a type of berry - well, two - that it might be based off.

    ohelo1.jpg

That's called the Ōhelo berry, and it's a berry native to Hawaii and typically found growing from 1000 to 6000 feet above sea level along volcanoes. The berry is considered sacred, as it's given as an offering to the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes, Pele, and the berry is also a staple in the diet of a protected bird, the Nēnē Goose.

There's one other interesting little tidbit about this berry. There's another native berry that looks similar to the Ōhelo berry, except for a few small differences. This plant is called the Akia, and both the berries and the bark of this plant are toxic. (But we do have the poison type, and Bounsweet isn't one, so I'm banking on the Ōhelo.)

  12. Alright, full list of the newbies comin' at ya.

    [spoiler=Wimpod]d8e75beeda27c799a581e509ad0fde04.png

*Note that its Wimp Out ability is brand new and enables it to flee after its been attacked. This is probably going to make it a serious challenge to catch.

    [spoiler=Bounsweet]eb136ca835c9c8c5898f6f3d324f2ccb.png

*It looks like some kind of berry, but I can't think of a real-world equivalent. Maybe it's a type of berry native to Hawaii that happens to have sentience? This isn't the first time we've had sentient fruit (i.e. Cherum).

    [spoiler=Comfey]c0586646a915eaad05079522acf94236.png

*Triage is a brand-new ability. The Pokemon's also based off a traditional lei, though the flowers in this lei look like hibiscus flowers (typically hibiscus flowers aren't used for Hawaiian leis - plumerias are).

    [spoiler=Mudsdale]a42d847f92f2284e960ff4021db8b76c.png

*Stamina is a brand-new ability as well - increasing its defense by +1 when it gets hit (so it's just Defense Rise compared to Defense Rising Sharply). (And okay, this name though. "Mud" 'cause it's a Ground type and "dale" from Clydsdale I'm. That's adorable.)

    [spoiler=Mimikyu]359f42d5f11115e6c61d5b2ef4a1a455.png

*Brand-new ability and brand-new type combination, making this our first Ghost/Fairy Pokemon. Disguise seems to work like Substitute, where it uses the cloth to deflect hits from the actual creature, however, I could be wrong. This is just a guess.

    [spoiler=Bewear]11453dfd63e1da3496b41aae887136ca.png

*If I'm recalling correctly only one other Pokemon has the Normal/Fighting type and it's an alternate form of Meloetta. So this is the first non-legendary Normal/Fighting type combination. Also, Fluffy's a brand new ability although we still haven't seen what it does (hopefully it's better than Klutz). Also. This name. This pun. I love it. I have to have one just because of the pun.

But, ah, that's all of them, other than the information about Hyper Training and Global Competitions.

God, this is such a great set of Pokemon this gen, I'm so happy~

  13. And this is why the Republican Party really needs to reconsider what it's doing right now. Appealing to White Christians and the upper class is still a workable idea if done right, but they've gone to such a ridiculous extreme that they're now associated nearly entirely with hatred of anyone who isn't a straight white person, never-mind the fact that smart conservatives (the kind who like fiscally Conservative policy and the free market) are being damned by association.

    Exactly!

I actually do understand and agree with the conservative viewpoint from a fiscal sense, but on everything else... no. Because on everything else, a lot of those hot topic issues directly affect people who aren't straight, white, able-bodied, and cis in a negative way.

We're not "others" because we don't fit in that category, we're just as human and just as worthy of consideration, safety, and respect as anyone else.

Believe me, I'm disgusted that Trump has followers that act like that. I'm disgusted that I support the same person that they do. I don't blame Trump for their actions though. I blame them for their actions. You know that Trump has black supporters, right? They're afraid to admit it, though, because of the kind of followers you mentioned.

    Sangyul: Fair enough.

I highly doubt Trump means that he supports the idea of just outright attacking others. He probably means "feel free to defend yourself if you're attacked." Which is most certainly reasonable. No sane person would encourage someone to just go attacking others for any reason.

I know he has black supporters. I'm... kind of baffled by the fact that he does, considering how many of Trump's followers are white supremacists or were/are actively involved in hate crimes (the KKK's still around, even if people like to pretend it's not).

It's disgusting, and it doesn't just apply to race. You can't choose your skin color, your gender, your sexuality and yet there are people out there, supporters of him, that willingly discriminate against people on these factors alone.

And Trump supports /them/ in turn.

Which is why I can't and could never choose to put him in office. That kind of discrimination and allowance of said discrimination is something I can't condone.

  14. You couldn't pay me any kind of dollar amount to vote for Trump. I'm basically every conservative Republican's worst nightmare: I'm Black, I'm a woman, I'm queer, I have a mental illness. I'm not going to vote for a person who has followers that would want me dead for the crime of existing. Absolutely not.

  15. I was looking through all the new Pokemon again, and I pretty much have my team decided.

Rowlet, Komala, Rockruff, Drampa, Mimikkyu, and Lunala.

... Wow. Nice. There's probably some weaknesses with that set up but as of now I'm rolling with it.

Also I saw a theory about Mimikkyu possibly having a Happiness evolution (in regards to it wanting to be loved) and my reaction to that was basically
