  1. I second Wayward Son. What a great fanfic. Nearly made me cry by the end of it.

But it's a lot to read, especially now that it's complete. But it's worth every damn second because of how the author portrays Renault and the amount of development Renault is given. It's just fantastic.

Not sure about the spinoff though. It's really not that polished and the author I believe admitted he was going through hardship at that time and so didn't finish it how he wanted to.

  2. Signed up for the lego website when I was a kid as Legoman11

Then when we got the PS3 I didn't want to associate myself with Legos so I renamed myself to pixelman. That continued as tradition on games like Minecraft and other websites and I still do it today though I have started to shift more towards calling myself Pepsiman.

I also go by Horatio and that's because I watched a funny Minecraft video when I was a kid and the guy said the name and I thought it was funny.

  3. I don't really know how to respond to this other than thanking you for your response, because you put a lot of work into it (and I did read all of it) and I understand where you're coming from. Kinda puts certain things into perspective when it comes to America and groups of people in the Republican Party.

May I ask two more questions? I personally believe that so long as people think differently, there will always be a conservative vs liberal divide among the people. What do you think, then, should be a conservative parties role in a two-party system?

Also, do you think advocating for a "small government" is simply not feasible anymore? As in, is the ideology of "states can do whatever, the federal government is limited in scope" not possible in this day and age, and that the government is "doomed" to get bigger and bigger?

EDIT: Anyone can answer these questions. They are not exclusive to @Dr. Tarrasque.

Conservatives of today, specially the ones that still support Trump are just proving on a daily basis that they're fucking hypocrites just cherry-picking and spinning data/statements to try and backup their talking points while turning a blind eye and forgiving ALL transgressions they accuse Obama and Hillary of when it's someone on their team. If there's any group of common people that don't deserve to vote like someone of the founding fathers thought, it is definitely them but instead, it's been based on the color of someone's skin or their gender and the GOP in power would love nothing more than to go back to those days while the common people underestimate how much they're leaning towards creating a white supremacist america.

EDIT: And yet another report under Trump's own administration that contradicts him, this time on his drug talking points used to defend his border wall.

Ehhhhhh I doubt the GOP in power really want to create a white supremacist america. Didn't they all just unilaterally dismantle Steve King for saying stupid shit about white supremacy or whatever? That was fairly recently

Ugh, I can't stand this guy. Very elitist and loud and seems more concerned with his super idealism (SOCIALISM SOCIALISM SOCIALISM SOCIALISM) rather than any form of practicality.

Is there a lot to look forward to boss/enemy design wise and in terms of story?  Also is it very grindy?

If you mean "design" as in gameplay then no because you can just auto battle out of enemy groups for the most part. If you mean "design" as in character designs well yeah I like a lot of the designs but they aren't as cool as later series games. Keep note I haven't finished the game, so I'm only going off what I've completed. The game feels like an 80s dungeon crawler because... that's what it is. The dungeons are meant to be confusing and long and filled with traps.

The game mostly follows the formula of: Enter area > Battle monsters/explore dungeon > Find item to disable monster boss' special ability > Beat monster boss > move on to the next dungeon. You'll probably be grinding at some points. I remember being in math class last year grinding until I could one shot the enemies of a particular dungeon just to make the dungeon crawling smoother.

It is quite accessible as Interdimensional observer has explained, he also explained it pretty thoroughly.  It is very different, I enjoyed the action RPG stuff but yeah it could be smoother, wish they would try another game with this type of system.  The different era, the different mood and feel is very fresh and stands out.

I know this was fan translated awhile back, I think I started with book 1 but you start right in a dungeon and it was hard for me to get into.  Have you played book 1 also and is it worth going through?  I have no bias towards older games, love many games from the NES era so 'dated' won't be a turn off.

Also anyone play the mobile SMT?

The entire game is a collection of connected dungeons so if it turned you off after a while then you probably won't like it going forward

I've played Book 1 but haven't completed it. I think the next boss I have to beat is like, Loki

  7. I've been a huge fan of Ridley lately. The move where he drags you across the stage is very fun and his fireballs piss my friends off so much.

And while I usually don't play Mario a whole bunch there's something about him I really really like this time around, despite the fact he seems... the same?

I'm also really happy with Ganondorf too. He finally uses his sword and it has one hell of a range, let me tell you. He's definitely my main.

  8. Pretty boring. I'm in the middle of winter break and there's really nothing to do until next week when school starts up again

I actually got Pokemon Diamond this Christmas and have been playing that on and off. Also contemplating on what I'll do with all this money I got during and after Christmas :/

Also trying to find my model kit building tools, which I sadly can't find (I'll buy the pack again on Amazon if I can't find it)

The mere fact that a) something like this goes to a 5-4 decision and b) that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh are very clearly voting along a party line paints a dire picture for what the Supreme Court decisions will be like for the next 3 decades.

My only hope at this point is that Ginsburg, Breyer, Kagan, and Sotomayor don't die/retire until there's a Democratic president, because if Conservatives get to put a 3rd person on the SCOTUS then the US is going to be completely fucked.

    ...What? Why?

    Hawaii's a stronghold state.

Reagan's reelection was an odd one out, but that was an odd one out for every blue state besides DC and Minnesota.

Nixon's reelection was an odd one out too, as Hawaii also voted Republican in the 1972 presidential election.

It's quite interesting to note that the last time a Democrat has really won a landslide was in 1964 when LBJ clobbered Goldwater. Do you guys think there might be more landslides (from either party) or at least a significant realignment election in the future? Or will the states vote largely the same going forward as politics becomes more divisive?

  11. A woman can beat Trump and a minority can beat Trump. Anyone can beat anyone.

But the question in 2020 is whether or not the Democrats can regain control of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin after losing all three in 2016, which cost Hillary the election. If the next Democratic nominee wins all three of those then they've already won the damn race so long as they keep all the states Hillary kept.

Remember: Bush in 2004 had to essentially win every state outside the Blue Wall in order to win reelection. If he had lost Florida he would've lost his reelection bid. I think the odds favor the Dems in 2020 (even conservative pundits like Ben Shapiro seem to agree with this assessment, and it should be noted that Trump won those "Blue Wall" states with incredibly thin margins) but if 2016 is anything to go by, anything can happen.

EDIT: I'm watching some clips of the Cruz vs. Sanders CNN healthcare debate and god, I wish the 2016 campaign was Cruz vs. Sanders. It would've been a lot more... insightful, I think, than whatever the fuck the real 2016 was.

  12. As someone who lives in California, I was quite surprised Prop 6 (repealing the gas tax) wasn't passed

Most reports indicated a majority of Californians (59% I believe) disliked the tax, so to see it remain must be an upset to lower tax advocates

And with Gavin Newsom becoming governor (ehhhh), I wonder how a Republican will be able to take back the Governor's seat in California. I think they ought to nominate a more center-right candidate like, say, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts or Larry Hogan of Maryland in the future. A liberal Republican, essentially.

  13. Some thoughts:

Looks like Mitt is going to Washington D.C. after all

Surprised Gillum lost, it seemed like he was winning

I don't want Nelson to lose he seems like a nice guy UPDATE: Seems he lost

Newsom seems to be on the trajectory to winning here in California. No one's surprised. Wonder how the props will go down

    Scott Walker actually struggling

Beto seems like a nice guy, shame he's losing but it's to be expected

Dems didn't really win much here honestly. I'm watching the daily wire podcast and I agree with them in that nothing special really happened here. It followed trends usually followed after a presidential election. Some of the top progressive candidates (Gillum, Rourke) have lost their elections despite strong showings and dems are getting creamed in senate races. Blue Wave this is not.

Ben Shapiro: "The Democratic party is the party that has openly embraced anti-semitism" Yeah, okay. Give me a break.

Certain swing states (Florida, Ohio) going Republican will spell huge trouble for Democrats going into 2020.

That's all I have for now.

It's stuff like this that makes me want to have another attempt at suicide.

Anyway, I know he's a complete tyre-fire in terms of policy but I'm not all that well informed on Brazilian politics, so how much difficulty is he gonna have implementing all of his shit? I'd like to think it won't be easy, but it's kind of hard to be optimistic about this situation.

For what it's worth I'm not Brazilian nor do I live in Brazil

Considering what he has said about the Brazilian Congress in the past, I don't think it'll exist much longer under his presidency, which makes me believe that what he proposes to do will be, uh... extremely easy to implement.

I love that this tweet was captured before it got deleted. She's been complaining about being called a "Token black" because she's pushing conservative propaganda when the "norm is for blacks to be Republicans". No, you stupid fuck, you're either a "Token Black" because you're taking money to spread conservative propaganda and they want to use you to say "we have blacks on our side!"  or you're a useful idiot if you sincerely believe that police brutality is a myth and undermine all the racial profiling that's been going on this year.

It doesn't matter where you look, conservative commentators in the US will sooner attack the other side and will even resort to conspiracy theories before attacking the failings of their own side. They use talking points to try to appeal to the common people while ignoring the very damaging actions the politicians on their side are doing to keep screwing the entire population. Credit to Shapiro for at least that much but it's not enough when he, Kirk and Owens go back to pushing propaganda.

When Republicans start doing more of this, that's when they should be calling for civility. Until them, they're smarter in silence.

Ugh, I really fucking hate Candace Owens. She's such a puppet.

No one should give her the time of day. Seriously.

Problem: average liberals and conservatives have a lot more in common with each other than the respective elites they choose to align themselves with against each other if they are politically active. People are conditioned to think that Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi and Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan are more like us. It's effective and pervasive.

It might be worth thinking about who's really on your side.

Though I believe this, I'm going to play devil's advocate.

How so? Aren't their ideologies/worldviews completely at odds with one another? Are there any examples/issues that show they can find common ground?
