  1. Kliff: I like his Gaiden incarnation better.

Palla: My FE waifu so no complaints. There is a good dynamic between her and her sisters. I really like it.

Grieth: Eh, he's a villain. I like his death quote, but other than that... yeah, he's just a villain. Nothing really special about him, other than being a bitch to beat.

    Also screw deadlines

Zeke: Camus is handsome, best looking character, would bang 10/10. I was surprised to hear his voice. Not disappointed, just surprised by how... low it sounded.

    Yessssssssssss!- I hope!

But I don't have a gaming PC. Will a laptop suffice?

Take your time, I'll be thanking you for your toil, as I currently am doing right now.

I really want to play Berwick Saga because of how different it is, and I want to know more about it. How are the characters? How built up is the world? How is the story? How much of a role do all these Side Missions play in contributing to the above?

Considering Vestaria Saga is built off of the SRPG engine, I don't think you need a particularly strong computer/laptop to run it.

  3. Sorry for the late reply.

I see where you guys are coming from, and I don't necessarily disagree, so I will not comment on a majority of your guys' replies.

I will say that i did like SoV's terrain boosts, because it was balanced by Mages being able to nullify it.

Fair, but I would've just nerfed the terrain bonuses instead of giving Mages an advantage over infantry.

Wolff's Fort. That map sucks and i hate it. I did enjoy Grieth's Citadel though. It felt like a proper siege. That's what i like about fort maps in SoV. They really did feel like proper sieges. Rigel Castle was my favorite. It came with an amazing song too.

You liked Grieth's Citadel? I found it even more tedious and boring than Wolff's Fort. To each his own, I guess.

To me, that isn't as bad a sin as having bloated maps that are also uninteresting. At least with SoV I might be able to move on in a matter of minutes, but FE4's maps require at least an hour because they're that bloated. It's an exercise in tedium.

Fair. I appreciate FE4's maps a little bit more because there are side objectives like saving villages, protecting NPCs, etc., but I see your point.

As a video game connoisseur, I am disgusted and offended by this blatant display of elitism.

By that logic, Kirby games suck because they offer no challenge.

A game doesn't have to be hard to be good but i don't expect your elitist mind to understand that.

I don't think he is being an elitist in this instance. I don't enjoy games like Kirby that much either, because they are too easy. Does that make me an elitist? They are not engaging or thrilling to me.

@Emperor has said some dumb, "elitist" (ugh I hate this word) shit in this thread, but if he doesn't like easy games, then so what? It's his opinion.

EDIT: You will probably never see this edit, but I felt the need to write it

ngl I actually really like Kirby games, especially the older ones. I just used the series as an example.

SoV's maps fall into the same fundamental pitfalls as FE4? Are you trying to make me laugh?

    No

Also, I did not say that SoV fell into the same pitfalls as FE4, rather it falls into pitfalls of its own. Perhaps I worded it weird.

About the only SoV maps that come to mind as being legit bad are the swamp maps and the desert fort - that's nowhere near as bad a track record as FE4 has in the maps department.

I disagree. Most SoV maps are uninteresting and needlessly flat, with terrain that give massive boosts to avoid, or forts which enemies run off to to heal HP from, prolonging the maps and making them tedious.

All desert fort maps in the game suck. Which one are you referring to specifically?

I was reminded more of Awakening than FE4, in FE4 the map goals are seizing but in SoV/Awakening they're just Route missions.

Ah, I was also reminded of Awakening too.

Once again, I have yet to actually play SoV, but I just refuse to buy into it having worse map design than a game where literally every map falls into the same fundamental pitfalls. Also, I don't remember any complaints of no axes in Gaiden, ever. Also, let's not forget that Gaiden was a NES game.

SoV's maps fall into the same fundamental pitfalls

I was honestly reminded of FE4 when playing SoV. What didn't you like about FE4, again? Besides the maps.

  6. ROMANCING SAGA 2

Something I really admire about Akitoshi Kawazu is his ability to create totally unconvential yet incredibly innovative and entertaining games. I believe Romancing SaGa 2 is his Magnum Opus. It's a game that's vastly different from its peers (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc.) yet manages to outdo them in part due to its sheer exoticness. Multiple generations, sparking, LP, magic fusion, open-ended/non-linear gameplay... I can go on. There's so much shit packed into the game I'm suprised it managed to even see the light of day. It boasts a lot of replayability for a JRPG released in 1993 and, crypticness aside, it has aged quite well IMO.

It's kinda hard to get into (and might warrant some restarts to get a full grasp on the mechanics), but when you really get into the groove, it's an extremely entertaining experience. There are flaws of course; the game feels a tad unpolished at times and the game doesn't explain certain mechanics to you (global levels). Also, it's quite unforgiving in terms of difficulty at times, especially in the earlygame, and there are many times when you might be wandering around looking for what to do next. However, I think the pros outweigh the cons, and it's easy in this day and age to look up information regarding any of the more obtuse mechanics anyways.

You can get it on your iPhone/Android for $17.99. Steep price for a mobile game, I know, but well worth the price considering what you're getting. It is a Square game, but it's the only portable Square game I haven't had trouble with.

  7. Since I'm a gameplay guy myself, I'll focus on that side of things

-Lower the caps substantially. Maybe FEGBA stat caps would be good, but Fates caps are fine too.

-Lower defense growth rates to prevent low manning. In fact, lower growths across the board.

    -Fix the EXP formula

-Remove veteran/galeforce/nosferatu, or just heavily nerf them

-Fix reclassing. Perhaps you can do it like fates where your level doesn't change?

-Bring back GBA weight system, it was fine

  8. Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Very few games feel as rewarding as this one. The game kicks your ass hard but when you finally gain the skill necessary to accomplish certain things (i.e. conquering Death Mountain, beating the boss of a temple, etc.) you feel on top of the fucking world

Even though I rarely play Zelda games (they aren't my cup of tea) this is easily my favorite one

I'm worried this price will scare off potential new players :/

As a newcomer, I'm less worried about the price and more worried about the performance :/

My laptop is not optimized for gaming. I can play games like Fallout 3 fine though, so maybe performance isn't much of an issue, but you never know.

  10. How would you discourage lowmanning anyway? As a guy who wants to delve into FE game design via ROM hacking, this problem has been annoying me for a while and I don't know how I would go about fixing it. (this isn't aimed at any particular person, btw)

Anyways, thanks for making these videos Mekkah. I think they made me improve as a Fire Emblem player in the long run.

    They would fail and die.

Well, sure, but I think one could make the argument that time travel is inconsequential to the main plot

I think if you change the way certains things work within the plot by just a little bit, you can remove the concepts of time travel and children entirely without affecting the main story too much.
