  1. Also, FEA for FE7 seems to be down for me. Is there an alternative for it?
  2. I think Reikken, Mekkah, Tino, Sniper, Colm, Swordsalmon is plenty for now. Basically over half of the debating crowd is a judge now anyways.
  3. lol Tino, I presume you read the Lucius vs Dorcas debate I had with CATS for some inspiration?
  4. Decent*, but by no means flawless. For one, Oswin harms the EXP rank when he joins. vs a L3 enemy 21 (Marcus) - 4 non-kill, 4 kill 9 (Oswin) - 8 non-kill, 10 kill 1 ('Wood) - 11 non-kill, 37 kill 9 (Matthew) - 12 non-kill, 23 kill Non-kill wise, the EXP gap between Oswin and a normal PC is about as big as the gap between him and Marcus. For a kill, he gets 6 more than Marcus, but 20-30 less than regular units. And you can't really afford to squander EXP, since the rank is hard to begin with. Using Oswin more means you can use other EXP-raping-units like Marcus and Athos less, and those are awesome, and EXP-helping-units like Nino and Heath more, who are worse than your team. Hell, main team members themselves start gaining shitty amounts after a while, so using Oswin more means being able to use those less. Another problem is that his mobility is shit. 4 mov and worst terrain penalties. Having awesome Def isn't worth much when everyone has to stay behind you (lagging tactics) or goes ahead of you. I'll take Hector or Lowen for tanking jobs even if they have slightly less concrete durability. Hardly. He can't move around quickly, and he does not one round enemies, so he can only take one at a time. When two Pegasi fly over from the forts in Ch14, for example, he can perhaps intercept one, but the other will fly back to the fort to heal himself, costing you like 3-4 turns for your tactics rank. He needs backup even when he stays back. Failure. Rath offers in Soviet Elibe, where EXP rank helps Nino, Wyverns kill Louise with a bow and Dragons call Nergal. Anyway, Rath probably rejoins on 8/0 or 9/0, not base level, since he was in Lyn Mode. Now, Rath is the polar opposite of Oswin in a lot of his ways. One is that he actually _helps_ the EXP rank, and by a lot, too. By this time, I estimate your characters are hanging somewhere between 15/0 and 18/0, or even promoted, depending on how you distributed EXP. The higher level they are, the better Rath's EXP rank hax is. At this point, enemies are around 7/0, 8/0 or, in some cases, 9/0. vs a L8 enemy 20/1 PC - 6 non-kill, 6 kill 17/0 PC - 7 non-kill, 7 kill 9/0 Rath - 10 non-kill, 27 kill For everything you kill with Rath instead of a normal team member, you gain 20 EXP extra. Enough for the difference between Matthew and Marcus killing something early on. Rath killing something two times allows you to kill something with Marcus instead of base Eliwood or Rebecca. So, if you have to go out of your way to kill something with Rath, that means you compensate for early on, where you otherwise would have had to go out of your way to set up a kill for Rebecca or Eliwood or something. So Rath's EXP rank helping vs Oswin's EXP rank sucking does a nice job of compensating for any combat win Oswin has up 'till Rath catches up. Now, Rath also happens to have the best attacking range out of everyone, whereas Oswin has the worst. Oswin has 4 mov, 5 if promoted. Rath comes with 7, and has move again. Oswin gets far harsher terrain penalties, especially once Rath promotes. In addition, Rath attacks from range, can even attack from range 3 with Longbow, whereas for Oswin to do that, he has to fail at accuracy and power with a Javelin. So Rath will often draw first blood, while Oswin is clanking behind the main group trying to keep up. He cannot even use "im a tank keep me up" as an excuse, since PC vulnerability has decreased massively, meaning they can be freely exposed to tons of enemies without worry of death. You might also have noticed that Oswin lags in the most important stat in the game: Spd. He will have like 7-9 Spd when Rath rejoins, and Rath comes with 10 in Lyn Mode. He grows level faster, and has 50% growth over Oswin's 30%. FE7 enemies may be slow, but not so slow that Oswin ever doubles reliably, other than maybe weighed down unpromoted enemies. Rath will double nearly everything - significantly more than Oswin when he joins already. For example, in Rath's joining chapter, Wyverns have 7-9 Spd (hey, that's about what Oswin has) and are weighed down by 1 due to Axereaver, and Rath will have 11-12 Spd, so he will double most of them, if not all. Fighters have 8 max and are weighed down to 6. Archers have 8, and are weighed down to 6. The only enemies that Rath doesn't double as reliably are Cavaliers, since those have 8-9 Spd and are not weighed down here, and Nomads with 10-11 Spd and -2 AS (Steel Bow), but he'll still double about half of those. And Rath levels up much faster than enemies do, with a much higher Spd growth (FE7 generics hardly exceed 30% Spd growth). Skipping to Four Fanged Offense, for example, Rath would double pretty much everything. The fastest enemies on the map are Mercs who lose 1 AS from Steel Swords. They have somewhere between 10 and 13 AS, so again, Rath will probably double about half. Everything else on the map, other than promoted enemies, gets doubled by Rath. It has disadvantages such as not being able to counter melee, but it also means that you can shoot behind your own frontline, so you don't have to be exposed as much. Rath will also have double Mt on fliers, and it just so happens to be that you are just being introduced to Wyverns. They are extremely common in all chapters to come, except Ch25, but that map has Pegs instead. And once Rath promotes, he still has the advantages of bows, but no longer the disadvantage, since he can now do melee with swords. Hector doesn't want him. He gets nothing out of it but defensive parameters, and Hector has zero trouble with that, and neither does Oswin. It just clings two tanks together when you could cover much more ground by spreading them around. Hector prefers to support Florina, who actually needs that defense, and also gives him the most offense he could ever have. He has A Eliwood in the bag, and he'll take B Matthew as well for more offense (he really wants Atk, Crt and Hit more...he lives through everything you throw at him, but doesn't always kill). Hector and Matthew also spend time at 20/0 for a long time together, and so does Eliwood, meaning it's easier to keep the three of them out of combat together, to avoid hurting EXP rank. Matthew is a useless support partner for Oswin though. 6 mov vs 4 mov won't work out well. Matthew has to sprint to chests nearly all the time, and likes to use his full mov. And again, even if he gets it, Matthew caps out at some point and stops seeing combat there, so he doesn't get much out of it. Priscilla doesn't get anything out of a support pre-promotion due to lack of combat. Also, she has equal or faster supports with Guy, Raven and Erk, and can also turn to Sain for a support. Rath has only one viable support with Guy, but that happens to be a very good one. Guy has trouble being full. What if Raven and Erk are in play? Then one of the three has to go without a Priscilla support. Rath solves this by providing Guy with a support, and Priscilla can support Erk and Raven. Matthew's problems as a support partner have been addressed. He may be good for Guy early on, but once his thief duties begin, Guy will hardly ever see the bonuses, and around the time Rath joins, he needs those bonuses around a lot for his I-have-massive-critgimmick to work. Rath also is the only dude who gives him full Avo rather than half, and when you have WTD against lances, you're gonna want all the Avo you can get. Final point: promotion. Oswin uses a Knight Crest. There's two Knight Crests available before Ch31. There's three good units besides Oswin who want to use a Knight Crest. That means two of them have to use Earth Seals, which come later and are twice as costly, making them more sucky. Lame, isn't it? Oswin has to spend some time at 20/0 if he doesn't want to hinder others from promoting when they want to. Rath, however, uses the best promotion item possible, besides maybe Elysian Whip: Orion's Bolt. You get two of those, and the chance of one of Rebecca/Wil being in play along with Rath is already small as it is, so Rath has no promotion issues at all. Summary: Rath helps EXP rank, Oswin hurts it. Rath has the best mobility and attacking range, Oswin the worst. Rath has no promotion issues, Oswin has a lot. Rath doubles reliably, Oswin only doubles really super slow shit. Rath rapes fliers, Oswin does not. Rath supports Guy, who wants him too. Oswin supports no one who wants or needs him. All Oswin has is some earlygame utility, lol.
  5. Colm comes with a Lockpick, and you can steal one from another thief. The treasures he gets from chests before Rennac shows up more than make up for whatever gold/efforts those cost.
  6. Promoting at L1? How does that work?
  7. No, that's called the mode (most common outcome). But usually, the mode is still in the vast minority of the possible outcomes. The average is all possibilities taken into account, the more common ones given more weight than the less common ones. This way, all possible playthroughs/outcomes are taken into account, not just the most common one(s).
  8. Definitely not my objective. If I'm debating Tino about Dozla vs Ewan, my goal isn't to convince him Ewan is better, I just want to have the better arguments and have fun debating. If I'm debating in a non-biased debate (i.e. I'm actually defending my own opinion, rather than a chosen character at all costs), then I am still just having a good time. If the person I'm debating sees what he's doing wrong, that's just a bonus. Convincing people over the internet hardly ever worked.
  9. You can't really train someone's offense. Just raise someone's level. A 20/20 Rennac has kind of less offense than a 20/5 Colm. They both have a 20 Str cap, and neither of them is going to reach it. Both can open locks, and if Colm goes Rogue, he can steal as well.

Godess Icon increases Luk, not HP.
  11. If two stat boosters in the last few chapters are so valuable to you, let your other thief steal them. But I doubt they matter stat-wise, so the only reason to keep them is funds...and if you're desperate for funds, promoting Matt is not an option to begin with.
  12. Nothing preventing him from doing 2 debates, eh.
  13. On a good day, Ward came out to play. Together with Dieck, Lot and Thany. In Ch2. Ward just stepped on a fort tile and gained EXP from Soldiers. Fun fun fun. And built supports with Lot and Dieck, since he's pretty much their fastest option, and Thany might be in play too. So Ward helps out the team even when he's not sticking his axe in things. Yay, Fire affinity at a fast rate. He's also pretty slow and inaccurate and all, but everyone else is hardly doing any better. And he has niches, like Loldier slaying with WTA, and using the Halberd on stuff, like those Ch4/Ch7 Cavs. It's a gamble, true that, but it pays off big time (he OHKOs them, and if he does, he's not taking their second hit if they double). Then Barf joins in Ch8. Let's make it easy upon ourselves and put them at the same level...Ward's level is probably higher but w/e. 9/0 Ward - C Lot/C Dieck Iron Axe - 20.5 atk, 6.4 AS, 85.8 hit, 9.8 crit - - 30.0 avo, 33.2 hp, 6.1 def, 1.3 res, 12.2 critavo 9/0 Barf Iron Lance - 17.0 atk, 5.0 AS, 82.8 hit, 2.8 crit - - 12.0 avo, 25.0 hp, 14.0 def, 1.0 res, 2.0 critavo Ward is winning all categories but Def, some by huge amounts, some by small. The Def gap is about the same as the HP gap. Ward is also benefitting his little band of friends. But it's gonna improve for Barth from here right? Since he supports people...like uh...looks like his entire list is Low tier. Except Oujay, he's bleh, but not good. And Ashtol, who runs around getting chests when fielded, and otherwise isn't fielded. Additionally, Ward has one more move than Barth, so he has an easier time sticking near the front with his two friends, who are very flexible thanks to good durability, and in Dieck's case, offense. Then Western Isles come and Barf gets WTD all the time against axes whereas Ward doesn't, and Barf gets doubled more often. Fast forward to promotion time, since all this talk about Barth being Barf makes me sick. Let's pretend Oujay is in play. 20/1 Ward - A Lot, B Dieck Iron Axe: 31.9 atk, 10.6 AS, 111.0 hit, 23.8 crit - - 58.3 avo, 49.5 hp, 13.4 def, 2.9 res, 24.1 critavo Iron Bow: 29.9 atk, 10.6 AS, 126.0 hit 20/1 Barf - A Oujay Iron Lance: 27.6 atk, 10.2 AS, 108.4 hit, 12.2 crit - - 31.6 avo, 40.0 hp, 23.3 def, 5.2 res, 19.2 critavo Javelin: 26.6 atk, 10.2 AS, 93.4 hit Iron Axe: 28.6 atk, 10.2 AS, 103.4 hit What's new? For offense, - Ward has more Atk with his weakest weapon (Iron Bow) than Barf with his strongest weapon (Iron Axe) - Ward is more accurate, most notably with Iron Bow, which is ranged, so very useful, unlike Barf's 93 hit Javelin - Ward has ~42 Atk on fliers with his Iron Bow - Ward wins all offensive parameters period For defense, Ward has nearly double Barf's Avo, and Ward has ~10 more HP, Barf has ~10 more Def, and ~2 more Res. For melee attacks, take a 30 Atk/90 Hit enemy. It has about 20% real on Ward, and 68% on Barth (being generous with rounding). It takes 4 hits to kill Ward, and 6 to kill Barth. Ward is somewhere between three and four times less likely to get hit, while Barth only takes 50% more hits. Surely Ward is better off here. Then, considering magic enemies, where the gap in Barth's favor is 2.3 rather than 9.9, while Ward's HP and Avo leads remain in existence, and taking into account Ward's option of ranged attacking, as well as being better off on two melee weapon types versus Barth's one...yeah, crushed there, Barth. This doesn't change all that much. Barth's growths are all around higher, but since he is worse at fighting and moving around, he cannot really catch up to Ward. Also, Ward becomes able to use the Steel Bow, increasing his ranged Mt on normal stuff by 3, and on fliers, by 9. Barth already has access to Steel Axe, but his Hit sucks so much he may as well throw darts with a blindfold to try and kill enemies. And in reality, Barf probably will not have Oujay for his support. Most importantly, this cripples his Hit by 15. And interestingly, it also reduces his CEV to 4.2, so stuff only needs 9 Skl to have 1% Crt on him. Or something like a 10 Skl Thunder Mage would have 10% Crt.
  14. Beat FE5. ... FE7 - Prepromote/Eliwood run in ENM, but got bored when Jaffar got randomly critted by a Swordslayer Berserker in CoD, and lost interest. File is gone now. FE7 - S-ranked ENM FE8 - Beat it in 29 turns (hacked though) FE8 - Ross solo (not sure which route) FE8 - Ephraim/Eirika only playthrough (Eph route) FE8 - Worst units I could find playthrough. Neimi, Rennac, L'Arachel, Dozla, Garcia, Amelia, Tana (tells you something about how hard it is to find bad units), Knoll, Syrene (Eir route). I should have used Ross and Ewan. I have some unfinished ones laying around, like FE6 lower tier (Ward, Wolt, Thany, Lilina, Cecilia, Sophia, Wendy, Bors, Barth and some other stuffs...) in Hard Mode. Also, I almost solo'd FE4 with Sigurd/Celice, but Ishtar is being a bitch with Ambush and Continue, so I'll finish that when I feel like it.
  15. Jaffar isn't meant to be that old, I think. He just looks and acts extremely experienced. But just like Nino, he was an orphan, though at a slightly earlier time.
  16. Neither Trewd or Brighton is going to get a lot of use in an SSS-run. Except Brighton is a necessity to complete the Manster Saga, where you escape from SSJ Leidrick, whereas Trewd isn't anywhere near a necessity anywhere, so even if we were talking SSS, Brighton wins. For this debate, however, I will ignore ranks and simply get into combat performance and misc stuff. Let's just pretend it's Sacred Stones and we don't have any rankings, but we'd rather not sit around scroll abusing or arena abusing or taking out sweet time with everything or whatever...though Brighton wins that way as well, since he'd be 20/20 at scrollpacked levels when Trewd shows up. Brighton joins in Ch4, and he's immediatly one of your best dudes. Between being supported by Machua, auto-killing enemies with Wrath and having enough Bld for some capturing, he will be one of your main men when you run around in dungeons, streets and valleys. He's going to be the only one one-rounding things until Fergus learns how to countercrit reliably. Until Leaf/Fergus hit B swords and become able to use Armorslayer, he's the only one who can do significant damage to Armors, sans Light Sword Leaf, but that's limited to 60 uses, and only on enemy phase for all melee Armors. So 4, 4x, 5, 6 and 7 are full of Brighton ownage. Then in 8, he'll be taking a little nap (he may be godly, but even superheroes need a rest now and then). Then add on 8x, 9, 10, 11, 11x, 12 and 12x for more Wrath ownage before Trewd decides to show his ugly head. Not only does Brighton have an enormous level lead, he will also have had much more time to use all the scrolls given to you. I don't think it's out of the question that he's had two levels with every scroll you've had so far, on average. Since it's too much work to incorporate all those bonuses, I'll just stick with the +.6 Skl and +.9 Spd from certain scrolls. Given that Brighton gets like 80 rounds of combat until now (yes, that much - Wrath is just that cool, and he's mounted, so first strikes gogo, and he's a main capturer), he should also have gained a point of Mov by now. So let's put Brighton at 16/0 when Trewd joins. I will put down stats the noob way here because Thracia calculates battle stats slightly differently from GBA, so this makes it easier to manually calculate. 16/0 Brighton HP: 35.7 Str: 9.3 Mag: 0.5 Skl: 9.4 Spd: 10.0 Def: 9.8 Luk: 3.6 Bld: 13.2 Mov: 9 (6) Axes (Swords) Wrath 8/0 Trewd HP: 30.0 Str: 8.0 Mag: 0.0 Skl: 11.0 Spd: 12.0 Def: 5.0 Luk: 3.0 Bld: 9.0 Mov: 6.0 Swords Nihil Just from face value, we can see there's hardly a contest. Brighton wins everywhere except 2 Spd, which accounts for a slight Avo lead and 2 AS. If Trewd weilds anything above Iron, that lead vanishes. Brighton puts out more power with axes and his 1.3 Str lead, and wins every other stat all the same. What's more, Brighton is (often) mounted, with move-after-every-goddamn-action and has access to buyable 1~2 range, whereas for Trewd to have 1~2 range, he needs one of those super rare magic swords, which 237179 other people want to use, and those run off his Mag instead of his Atk, costing him a bunch of power. These two factors help to counter Trewd's faster EXP gains, so I'll give both 4 levels now. And no, indoor chapters are no excuse. All chapters are outdoors from here until the Xavier chapter, and 19 is outdoors, and at 20, the fighting mostly happens outdoors. Looks like it's time to promote Brighton. 20/1 Brighton HP: 38.5 Str: 12.5 Mag: 1.7 Skl: 13.3 Spd: 13.4 Def: 13.2 Luk: 4.2 Bld: 15.0 Mov: 10 (7) Axes (Swords) Wrath 12/0 Trewd HP: 33.6 Str: 9.4 Mag: 0.2 Skl: 12.8 Spd: 13.4 Def: 6.2 Luk: 5.4 Bld: 9.8 Mov: 6 Swords Nihil Dead even with Spd now, and Brighton leads everything else big time (except lol 1 Luk). Most notably is HP/Def. Rounding up the .5 and .6 in their HPs, and down with the .2s from Def, we have 39/13 vs 34/6. 23 Atk 2HKOs Trewd, while it only 4HKOs Brighton, hrhr. So Brighton now won combat in Ch4-Ch12x simply for being there and owning shit, then he beats Trewd when he joins, and he wins even more when he promotes 4 levels later. Add in the insane value of capturing, his mountedness and better 1~2 range, and Trewd is screwed. For the rest, they both have 1 for Pursuit Crit coefficient (not that Brighton cares thanks to Wrath, but Trewd's offense is below average...), and Trewd has that movement star, but that's a very lame advantage. Brighton's ability to rescue PCs >>> that. A winrar is Brighton.
  17. Preferably the one that helps my team the most. And since their combat is bad overall, the emphasis is probably going to be on stuff that does not require combat. If Ross fails "even harder", that implies Garcia also fails, which means he won't be in play (the reasoning why Garcia from my first post went uncountered...). Either Garcia has a shot at being in play, and then Ross has one for the same reason, as the only difference between them would be Garcia's level lead vs Ross' much higer EXP gains. If Garcia is not supporting Seth, Neimi or Gilliam, then he is running around supportless until he gets his slow support with Dozla. So not only am I fielding a unit that sucks at doubling (and therefore at killing), but he's also not giving any support bonuses when doing it. Plus, the cumulative chance of less than 2 of Garcia's support partners being in play when Garcia himself is in play is obviously rather small. Basically, Dozla needs to defy logic to guarantee a Garcia support. A lolable B at that. I'll be nice and assume that he gets B Garcia as often as Ewan gets A Saleh when you go Ephraim route. No matter how you twist it, both are rarely happening. So on Ephraim route, either Ewan gets full supports while Dozla gets just B Garcia, or Ewan gets just Tethys and Dozla gets none. And on Eirika route, Dozla just gets pwnt. nonono. Ewan promotes to normal tier after Ch12, then promotes to second tier at the end of Ch14. Yes, 7.5 levels in two chapters. If that seems too much to you, remember that Ewan gains 73 EXP for killing generic enemies, 100 for promoted enemies, and that everyone else has hit promotion by now, which means they gain about as much by weakening enemies as by killing (neither is much...like 8 EXP for a L1 promoted unit for killing a 14 enemy). He promotes at around the same levels as the generic enemy units are (13-15), at which point he gains 30 EXP, so about 54 EXP on average. So he only needs 30 generic enemy kills nobody cares about. I gave Dozla the same amount of kills to be fair, but he's gaining shit EXP, so it's not helping him much, and allowing other units to take them doesn't help much either, since none of them gain a lot of it either. Long story short, Ewan can heal(/summon) from Ch15 on. Your comparisons are based off that Ewan promotes at like Ch18 or something, which is ridiculous. You can direct Summons so that they don't kill. Their main use is luring and dying, which doesn't cost EXP at all. They only have 1HP and terrible Avo, and they can't one round for shit even if the enemy does miss. If it's more beneficial for Ewan to kill something, sure. However, sometimes you will have 2 PCs leftover, Ewan one of them, and only one enemy in their range. In such a case, Ewan can Summon, and the other can kill. Efficiency++ Nonono, Ewan is quite decent after promotion. Dozla is the one who never has a period of awesomeness. Even if they were relatively the same during their good periods, Ewan has more chapters of being good. Taking some decent but non-godly unit like Kyle, for example, with half assed supports: 17/0 Kyle - A Forde 15.5 atk, 11.4 AS, 39.6 hit, 11.9 crit - - 38.0 avo, 34.3 hp, 12.8 def, 4.2 res, 23.2 critavo 20/1 Dozla 16.0 atk, 9.0 AS, 23.8 hit, 5.3 crit - - 22.0 avo, 43.0 hp, 11.0 def, 6.0 res, 4.0 critavo Kyle is winning everything but a bit of Atk, 2 res and ~9 hp. But if he's with Ephraim, for example: 17/0 Kyle - A Forde, B Ephraim 16.5 atk, 11.4 AS, 49.6 hit, 16.9 crit - - 48.0 avo, 34.3 hp, 13.8 def, 5.2 res, 28.2 critavo He now wins Atk, has double Dozla's Avo, and Dozla's measly Res lead has shrunk to less than a point. Then Kyle would promote... 20/1 Kyle 18.0 atk, 14.6 AS, 29.4 hit, 6.0 crit - - 38.0 avo, 39.9 hp, 14.5 def, 4.8 res, 8.8 critavo 20/4 Dozla 17.5 atk, 10.2 AS, 26.2 hit, 5.8 crit - - 25.3 avo, 45.5 hp, 11.9 def, 6.8 res, 4.9 critavo And he trashes Dozla in everything but HP (5.6) and Res (2) without supports at all, even giving Dozla the same amount of levels as Kyle, despite Dozla being promoted. So even a bleh unit is crushing Dozla badly when being generous to Dozla. How does Ewan compare to this Kyle, then? 10/15/1 Sage Ewan 13.9 atk, 14.7 AS, 31.4 hit, 5.7 crit - - 45.4 avo, 31.0 hp, 7.3 def, 16.8 res, 16.0 critavo 20/1 Kyle 18.0 atk, 14.6 AS, 29.4 hit, 6.0 crit - - 38.0 avo, 39.9 hp, 14.5 def, 4.8 res, 8.8 critavo 4 Atk, 9 HP and 7.2 def vs 7.4 avo, 12 res, 1~2 range, hitting on res and staves? You can argue Kyle is winning, but he's definitely not crushing Ewan. "but kyle level lead" Knight Crests are scarce, so he will probably have to wait until the end of Ch14 to promote anyway. Even if you give him his 2-3 level lead or something, Ewan catches up quickly through staves and now higher natural gains that it comes down to about the same. The samples I used were from Ch15, Scorched Sand. As I said, that's the chapter where Ewan gets to fight promoted, so your analysis doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. Before that, yeah, Dozla wins, I already conceded those. The point is obviously that Ewan _can_ become good, and he only needs ~2-3 chapters of suck, whereas Dozla joins as pretty bad and only becomes worse. lol Brave in plural. There is only one Brave Axe, and it's only available after killing the Hero that drops it in Ch17. And Dozla isn't taking on that group of Heroes by himself, so he's probably off trying to kill other things, so he may not even have it during that chapter. And it'll break after ~15 rounds of doubling. Obviously being good without that exclusive weapon > being good only with it. And if Dozla has B Garcia, he has to share that thing with him, and if you're going Ephraim route, Duessel might also want it. Hand Axe/Tomahawk makes him phail accuracy and atk power, and there's only one Tomahawk with 15 uses. Killer, yeah, he has that, but he only gets one shot at enemies to crit with it anyway, and they cannot be bought until Ch17. For Slayer, it helps him against the specific enemy targets, but it makes him fail on enemy phases against others. He can Hammer those Generals in Ch19, but then those Swordmasters laugh even harder at him. He could use a Swordslayer killing those Swordmasters, but then all of those lance users have double WTA over him and kill him in like 2-3 hits with >90% real. And again, those weapons are limited. This ain't FE7, the enemy weapon triangle is fairly evenly represented. Ewan's accuracy is top notch with anima, and still lots better than Dozla if he chooses to go for Dark, tyvm. Gorgons don't appear until Ch18, by which time Ewan can use Light if he's a Sage, and Dark if he's Summoner/Druid. And even if he's a Mage Knight, he can rape Gorgons with Excalibur before they float into his range. I'll say for now that Ewan does not have accuracy issues at this point, but if you wish to challenge that, I'll provide some numbers in my last post. Note that Ewan gets 25 hit from supports, too (for comparison, Dozla gains 0, or 5 with B Garcia) Druids do not appear until Ch14 Eph, and there's none on Eirika route, so you'll have to wait until Ch16 to face them. Again, Ewan is promoted here, so no hit issues at all. Mogalls have almost negative evade. They are in his joining chapters, but even there, Ewan can hit them. Taking Mogalls from Ch18 and assuming they're the same in Ch12 (I'm so nice): Mogalls(All LvL 16, 4 Con) 1-25/10/7/9/6/3/9(Evil Eye) 2-26/10/6/8/6/4/9(Evil Eye) 3-25/11/7/7/5/5/9(Evil Eye) Average-25.3/10.3/6.7/8.0/5.7/4.0/9.0 Evil Eye Stats: 7 Mt/85 Hit/6 Wt/0 Crit/1-2 Rng We see here that the fastest one has 9 Spd, but they all lose 2 AS, so 7 Spd, so that makes 20 avo overall, 35 with WTA. Fire has 90 hit, and Ewan comes with 2 Skl/5 Luk, for 96 base hit overall. Still 61% displayed hit, or ~70% real. 70% real at base level against overleveled Mogalls? Add his 105% hit growth, and he really doesn't give a damn. In fact, Ewan's 96 base hit is only slightly less than Dozla's 99 base hit with Iron Axe. And Dozla only has 85% hit growth. Sure, he'll take CEXP if you'd prefer. That only helps my side more. However, if there's a surplus of PCs, he can allow other PCs to take the kill, while he heals someone for his own EXP. Dozla, in such a situation, cannot grow. The fact that he has the option of becoming a Summoner is plenty. Not a lot changes if he goes Summoner for the battle stats, since Thunder has as much Mt as Flux, and he gains even more power that way with the same amount of AS. Also, that way, he gets to peer into his own exclusive pool of Dark tomes, such as Nosferatu. Dozla, however, does not have any choice on this matter. Soz, changes from last time: - Ewan still pwns the support department. On Dozla's best case, Eph route, he has A/B when Dozla has B, or just A if Dozla has none. On Eirika route, it's all vs none. - Ewan still has staves and may have Summons. - Ewan wins combat for 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and final. Dozla wins combat for 12, 13 and 14. In addition, Dozla gets owned by some random unit like Kyle when he joins already, and gets trashed more and more as the game goes on. Ewan is on par with Kyle when Ch15 comes, and it stays that way for the rest of the game.
