FE5 Growth rate question

If your build is higher than the enemy, then you are permitted to capture the enemy. Mounted units can capture regardless of build though

If your build is higher than the weapon's weight, then you will suffer no loss in attack speed. If the weapon weight is higher, then you will suffer a decrease in attack speed equivalent to the difference between weight and build.

If a thief has higher speed than the enemy, then he can steal any item/weapon from his target provided that the weapon/item has less weight than the thief's build. Items usually have no weight but staves have weight.

I think those are the only factors which involve build.

Mages also don't follow the build rule: Regardless of their build, it's always assumed in battle calculations as Zero. probably done to prevent long-range double attacks of death since you could do that quite early on if you RNG abused the piss out of Asvel

Or maybe to give Mage Knights a reason to actually use swords.

Huh? Olwen likes using swords to not get weighed down much on the enemy phase. Also, she'll want to use the Holy Sword later on.

For Elemental Weapons. Mage Knights actually do high damage with them as Magic Swords DMG is calculated by the Mag stat rather than the Str one.

Huh, no. Elemental weapons use Str on melee, and Mag on range. As a rule of thumb, mage knights have higher Mag than Str, so... if damage is what you want, they're better off with regular magic already. It's simple math.

The only attractive point of swords for mage knights in FE5 is the weight reduction through build, which doesn't happen when they wield magic.

Or the fact that Eyrios, not Olwen, has an A in swords and has a nice strength growth for it. That and mobility can be quite useful. Not olwen.

Which is precisely why giving Mage Knights magic swords is a good idea.

I know.

But their damage is still based on STR in direct attacks. That was what I was disagreeing with.

Olwen won't want the Holy Sword because Olwen sucks and it's not worth losing Eyrios or an extra sol manual, considering how w1n Sol is in this game

but besides, how often does that spd loss actually make a difference? Asvel certainly never noticed anything, so it's sure as hell a pretty poor excuse to swing around a sword when you're still going to double with 18 AS instead of 20.

Regardless of how much you think she sucks (she doesn't - she's Upper Mid at the least), she definitely wants the Holy Sword. Have you seen the damn thing? 17 mt (that's between a Silver Lance and Silver Axe), attacks twice, rapes mounts, auto-better-Pure Water (aka +10 Mag), and free Prayer skill. Even without Ambush, that is mighty. If she has Ambush... o_0

talking about build, the capture option should DEFINITELY be kept in the series for the future games. its so much fun!

and, talking about capturing, sometimes i forget to strip the captured enemies of their weapons.

It's fun depending on how you look at it. Early game it's torturing, you have like, 2 units that will be good capturers, and your hit rate drops a bit, as well as the damage and shits.

Capturing worked out because of the situation with finances. Money is very tight, and weapons are expensive as hell. I wouldn't mind seeing capturing make a comeback, but it would be a bit redundant if money flows as generously as does in some of the more recent titles.

You aren't the only one.

it's especially sad when they capture Rifis and strip him of his only lockpick, then you forget to take it back.

and then you have a useless unit for forever. or at least until you find another thief to take their lockpick.
