Mephisto might be easier. He prefers long range combat, but he mostly uses magic. At this point you should really consider buffing your resistances, especially fire and lightning. Ended up using my NPC as bait while I riddled him with arrows, and then ran back into a portal to revive him. I need to build up my resistances in general. I also hate this forest and the spiders. Few people like the jungle, but trust me on this when I say the spiders are the least of your worries. Be especially careful around Gloams as they fire lightning from a screen (or more!) away. Thankfully, I believe they're only found in the Great Marsh, which is sometimes skipped since the maps for Act 3 can be especially weird until Kurast.
