And probably would be too hard on Hard mode. So what difficulty are you going to play? Rule #5 is meant to use everyone. Here's how it works for me: Say you can use 12 units for a map. If you're in a normal chapter, Chrom and avatar are going to take 2 slots. So there's only 10 slots remaining. First you remove everyone except Chrom and avatar and then go to the end of the list and pick the last 5 units. Exit the Units menu and go back to it so the units end up at the beginning of the list. Pick your five remaining units as you wish. If you're in a skirmish, you remove everyone, so there are 12 slots remaining. You pick the last 6. Exit the menu and go back to it. And then pick the 6 remaining units as you wish. If you don't have the DLCs, you obviously can't do them. It was a means for me to have more chapters and make pairings easier. The only thing I can see changing is no skirmish after a DLC chapter. But you're free to do as you wish. Yes but you can only access the shop from the last completed chapter. And yes. I haven't mentionned it but I'm also using the barracks, I usually use the characters in the next chapter if I get a support convo through it though. They're the only chapters where I expect people to die in normal. Maybe the endgame chapters as well. Thankfully, you can do these whenever you want.
