Reminds me of when my family joked the rain followed my brother and cousin, as last Summer they went on vacation to a place that suddenly stopped having a drought, then started raining here when they came back. Is your essay about that part or it's just the country in general? I think you'd be excused of not putting much of that period since there is not much info about it.
