In most of the country we actually don't do much, it's only mainly in the state of Puebla that it gets a proper celebration. The most you see is elementary and middle schools giving the day free, but other tan that, it's mostly an ordinary day outside of the recognition of the events. Ironically, while it did begin with the Mexicans in California, it was the US itself who propagated it across the rest of the country.
