Balcerzak
Hai, point completely missed with this post. The point is that these guys can use religion as an excuse to deny benefits. Yeah, you know, in a nation that was founded on religious freedom? Its ass backwards, draconian, and extraordinarily sexist. By allowing this kind of crap, the law opens itself up to deny people all manner of benefits just because some chump says "my god says no."The other side of the coin is that they shouldn't be forced to provide you things. Nobody should be obligated to provide for somebody else.

This is why the US is so goddamn backwards compared to the rest of the First World when it comes to the health of its people.

shadowofchaos
I've heard Canada's healthcare is hell of a lot better. I'm all for "religion being a factor" and all... but that's only for *YOURSELF* and expecting the government to deny someone ACCESS for something just because of your own beliefs, is pretty foolish. Naughx
The other side of the coin is that they shouldn't be forced to provide you things. Nobody should be obligated to provide for somebody else. They don't provide things, it's the state that provide it, they just pay for it. A law should apply to everyone. (In a way that everyone is equal, no free pass on religious grounds) But that's just my opinion... You can ignore it if you want.

It's health care insurance. Which, by federal law, must be provided by employers if they have a certain number of employees. Seriously, mate, thats a thing. For an employer to deny something like that based on religious reasons...yeah its a rights violation. The Supreme Court ruling on it is just nauseating and sets us back 70 years. ah, good an' old third world Pretty sure BR isnt the Third World. Fruity Insanity
second world was used to design socialist countries Yeah, I read about that on... Wikipedia, I think. A few years ago or something. Considering when the "First/Second/Third World" terms came from, the Cold War... First World - USA and allies Second World - Soviet Union and allies Third World - Everybody else Yeah, but nobody uses like that these days. First world - rich countries with good infrastructures and economies Third world - poor countries with bad infrastructures and economies Second world - the middle? Pull My Devil Trigger
Pretty sure BR isnt the Third World. we're mostly considered a "developing" country nowadays, basically "third world" countries that are more recently industrialized and shit, and didn't get to the point of being a "first world" country something like that, geography isn't exactly my strong part \o/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRICS

Naughx
Looking at other countries as a model can improve our own... No country is perfect... This is a great source of enlightenment. (Be it Sweden or other Nordic countries, Britain, France, Australia, Netherlands, U.S (for us, canadians, your constitution is quite good as an inspiration) and the Native American culture...)
