chococoke
I'm currently on chapter 17. This is my 3rd runthrough of FE, (and 1st since about 6 years ago >.>) Anyway, I've never done HHM before and wanted to give it a crack. Unfortunately, I hadn't even done HNM. Anyway, I've NEVER used any of the 3 cavaliers. Now, running through all of these tier lists and whatnot, I see that all of three are rather high. Which one would you recommend using? Their stats are as follows (btw, Kent and Sain kinda suck because I skipped Lyn mode) Lowen (level 10) STR:12 SKL: 10 SPD: 9 LCK: 6 DEF: 12 RES: 4 Kent (level 7) ((probably not...)) STR: 8 SKL: 8 SPD: 8 LCK: 4 DEF: 7 RES: 2 Sain (level 5) ((I kinda regret not doing Lyn mode now...)) STR: 9 SKL: 5 SPD: 8 LCK: 5 DEF: 7 RES: 0 Comments, concerns, insults welcome. Dr. Tarrasque
Lowen. If you want a second one, Sain.
Ansem
Lowen You really should have done Lyn mode
chococoke
Lowen You really should have done Lyn mode I understand that, but I just wanted to get HNM out of the way so I could do HHM as soon as possible.

If you're playing on an emulator, you could've requested a save that lets yo start off in HM, even with the Bonus Disk downloads included. Unfortunately, I don't have this so-called emulator, I roll old school GBA.
Interceptor
It's worth doing LHM if you like cavaliers, since it's pretty simple to get Sain and Kent to a decent level. Too bad that you're already at Chapter 17, that'd be a long way for you to go. I agree with the others that you'll want to use Lowen. Mine always turns out crummy, but yours is super-blessed, so make use of it.
Chocolate Kitty
Gotta agree with interceptor, my lowen always looks amazing, but then fails when I need him... Looking at kent and sain's current stats, I'd say kent will be more useful because his growths are more balenced then sain's, but it's my opion verses someone elses. Nice with the old school GBA by the way.

Makes me feel kinda lame coming here and having people talk about emulators and such, whereas I can't savestate or do anything cool like that :(
Interceptor
I play on a cart, too, so don't feel too left out. We're the cool kids because we can play FE7 whilst not tethered to a desk.

I can lie down on my bed and play FE too. And check my Facebook at the same time.

And I really think you need a usb drive to keep your files backed up on. Didn't you say you had to start from ENM because of losing your files? Anyway, back on topic: Cavaliers. Yay. How big is your hard drive if you could actually fill it all up with porn (and why not just use the internet anyway? You're already on it)? And yeah, I echo Lowen. Personally, I usually go for Sain, but in your position and with that blessed Lowen the choice is clear. Support him with Eliwood if the dude is free, or Rebecca if he's not and you're using her. Or both.
dondon151
How does quantity of porn mess up a hard drive anyway? You must have downloaded something fishy.
Narga_Rocks
How does quantity of porn mess up a hard drive anyway? You must have downloaded something fishy. I should think that a high quantity of porn => many many downloads => higher probability of getting something "fishy". Arguably, quantity of porn can mess up a hard drive, but only indirectly. And can we please get back on topic? Go AlanLowen! Well, actually, topic's kinda done, I guess. But that just means the topic needs to die the painful death of all topics that reach their conclusion. chococoke
Nevah! I'm gonna use Lowen and monitor his progress with this thread because all of you care because I don't want this to die!
Interceptor
I got a laptop. I can lie down on my bed and play FE too. And check my Facebook at the same time. In bed, I plug my cart into the GBA player on my Gamecube, and play on my TV with a Wavebird. Being unable to check Facebook is a feature, not a bug, and there are other devices for that. And I still maintain the ability to play FE7 whilst in line at the DMV. Nevah! I'm gonna use Lowen and monitor his progress with this thread because all of you care because I don't want this to die! You could still save Sain. If you're only in Ch17, there are some spots where he can do some training and still be useful. Like the mercs on the east side of the Ch18 pirate ship, back-door bandits in Ch19, Axereaver pegs in Ch19x... meanwhile, Lowen can be doing the important things that his epic stats allow. I planned on that, actually. Also, an aside, is Isadora useful at all (other than for her weapons/Angelic Robe?)

She's got nice stats until your units start promoting (around chapter 25).
chococoke
Advice hath been taken, and things are looking kinda crappy. Now on the Dread Isle, well... Lowen doesn't like gaining any stats. Other than defense. :( Lowen (level 14) +4 levels STR: 13 (+1) SKL: 11 (+1) SPD: 10 (+1) LCK: 8 (+2) DEF: 14 (+3) RES: 5 (+1) Sain appears... meh... Sain (level 8) +3 levels STR: 11 (+2) SKL: 5 (+0) SPD: 11 (+1) (and speedwing, making for +3) LCK: 7 (+2) DEF: 7 (+0) RES: 1 (+1) Ugh. Also, isn't Bartre supposed to reliably gain speed, or was I mistaken in assuming such with a 40% growth rate? Bartre (level 11) STR: 15 SKL: 9 SPD: 6 LCK: 7 DEF: 7 RES: 2 Shit. Dr. Tarrasque
Bartre's SPD growth is nice but his base SPD makes it troublesome for his SPD to be good when it needs to be unless it's blessed or yer one of them arena abusers. That's kinda why some people prefer bases over growths. Edited April 27, 2010 by Speedwagon

I mean, I guess I understand that, but when I have to abuse the RNG on the 1st turn of pirate ship to get Bartre a speed up, things aren't looking too good
El Rey León
There's a reason he's called "Barf-tray". Use Dorcas or Dart if you need an axe-user. Though I personally like to wait until Raven gets Hero'd and Oswin gets General'd, so those two plus Hector will be nightmares to any enemy that dares to wield a lance. Urgh -_- Would I be better off ditching my Bartre now and using base Dart instead?
