deranger Posted June 26, 2011 Share Posted June 26, 2011 Start by making your river 1 tile wide, in which case it'll be straight tiles a lot, and bendy tiles (opposite ones for each side of the river) so it stays the same width throughout. Primefusion Posted June 26, 2011 Share Posted June 26, 2011 Joe, you're trying to make the mountains overly complicated before you even know how the pieces fit together. Slow down, and concentrate on trying to make it simple and clean first. And watch your use of thickets. The ones you've got right now are for when the forest is really dense. They shouldn't be at the edge of a forest, the borders stick out. Also, just because the reference is from FE8 doesn't mean it's bad. Look at the rivers, not the mountains in that reference. (Plus, IMHO, there are not *that many* differences between maps in FE6/7/8. They still all share the same general style, for the most part.) Reference: See how there's a line between the flap and the fur? Even if you're not going for canine ears, you should still reference this.
