Twilight

Throughout Twilight Princess, you are prompted to rid the light world of the twilight that Zant put on the world. But is the Twilight really as malevolent as it appears? I think Zant has a point in that he's conjoining the world of Shadows with the world of Light. Now, granted, he has a very evil way of doing it, but the people of the light world barely even notice a difference. If you go through Castle Town while it's still in the Twilight, everyone goes about their business essentially the same. So is the Twilight itself Malevolent? Or is Zant just making is malevolent by letting monsters run rampant and by destroying light itself by attacking the light spirits of each Province?

Discuss:

Is the Twilight Malevolent, Benevolent, or Neutral?

If the Twilight was controlled by rational parties(lets say Midna and Zelda), would the Twilight be more benevolent?

Why?

I seem to remember a few references to the elder gods of the twilight realm who are related to the twisted shadows midna uses, and I think midna worries about their plans/intentions at some point...but I don't recall anything ever coming of that.

EDIT-If I just made that up it's the weirdest thing I've ever made up.

Hmm... I always thought that twilight was just neutral. It was just made bad because of Zant.

Anyway... would the skies still appear all cloudy-like to those who are in twilight or would that only be seen by those from twilight and Link? Because I'd say it was pretty evil if it prevented me from seeing the pretty stars and moon. =b
