Shanam, Yay a shopper.

Chapter 2x 18 turns

Important thing is I now have a killing edge. After 7 turns of trying A light sword plus an Evayl capture allowed me to get that elusive killing edge. Tanya also grew in movement again, she can move 8 in one turn, so one of the few thing Ronin has over her(movement) is gone.

Name	Lvl	HP	Str	Mag	Skl	Spd	Lck	Def	Bld	Mov
Leaf	4.28	30	4	0	3	6	7	4	5	6
Eyvel	15.04	30	9	4	19	20	10	7	8	8
Havan	7.42	31	10	0	8	10	4	7	14	6
Marty	6.60	36	9	0	0	4	9	9	19	6
Tanya	9.50	24	7	2	12	15	11	4	4	8
Ronan	9.62	22	6	6	5	14	3	2	7	7

Chapter 3 14 turns

Would have been less but I avidly am against child hunting(except for Yuvel) Leaf seizes on turn 14.

Chapter 1

Fin ferries Leaf to the throne and then murders the boss. Eyvel clears the path for Halvan to get the Hero Axe.

I also got the Life Ring. Could have done it in 4 turns, but no, the Hero axe is more important over the cost of 1 turn. 8)

Fin 8.48 28 8 1 8 12 5 8 9

5 turns.

Chapter 2

Leaf simply heads straight for the throne, and kills the two Hunters above, with a Continue proc. Fin fights enemies while unmounted to the South. Eyvel kills the boss, and Leaf seizes.

The 4-turn became possible after Leaf proc'd a Movement Star on his first turn.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Con Support
Leaf 1.53 22 4 0 2 5 6 3 5
Fin 10.02 30 9 1 8 12 5 8 9

4 turns.

Chapter 2x

Eyvel clears the path for Leaf, and Leaf also gets some kills of his own. Once again, Fin stays behind killing enemies while staying unmounted.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Con Support
Leaf 3.51 23 5 0 3 5 6 3 6
Fin 10.68 30 9 1 8 12 5 8 9

9 turns.

Chapter 3

Fin ferries Leaf a bit, then gives him to Eyvel. Unmounted Fin storms through the castle and then Eyvel kills the boss.

10 turns.

Chapter 4

Props to Brighton and Fergus for being awesome. But hey, credit for Machua as well, for allowing me passage to 4x by killing off the Loldiers that held the hostages. At last, I credit the NPC Brigands for helping me take out the tin cans blocking the road.

Anyway, Brighton and Fergus dealt with most of the Knights.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Con Support
Leaf 3.87 23 5 0 3 5 6 3 6

Chapter 1: 5/5 turns

Eyvel burned through a fourth of the Fire Sword to get through this chapter. Leaf and Halvan followed behind. I think Leaf got two kills. I got the Hero Axe and Dagda got the Life Ring.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 1.80 22 4 0 2 5 6 3 5
Eyvel 13.34 28 9 4 18 20 10 7 8
Dagda 6.12 43 14 1 11 9 2 10 15

Chapter 2: 5/10 turns

Eyvel and Leaf went north and Dagda went to the Speed Ring village from the east. Nothing much to say other than I forgot Leaf sucked this much so he got the Life Ring and will get the Speed Ring next chapter.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 2.56 30 4 0 2 6 7 4 5

Dagda 6.84 14 11 1 11 9 2 10 15

Chapter 2x: 19 10 turns

AKA Leaf training ground. Dadga babysat the deadweights and Eyvel babysat Leaf. Trying to hold off on leveling Dagda too much before I get the Sety scroll so I'm letting Eyvel take the more exp giving Jeigen duty.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld

Chapter 3 - 13/27 turns (8/18)

Characters available: Leaf, Eyvel, Othin, Lifis

Final version, I swear. Did the exact same thing as before, and I figure the Armourslayer is worth the one extra turn it takes to get (final count is still 13 with 3 kids saved). Also because Othin got movement, so I refuse to do this over.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Bld
Leaf 9.90 30 4 1 4 11 7 4 5
Eyvel 15.22 30 10 4 19 20 10 7 8
Othin 14.28 39 11 0 11 16 10 8 14
Lifis 6.08 29 5 0 5 10 1 3 7

On to chapter 4.

EDIT: damn, you're all faster than me.

For the Manster chapters do we chose 2 free units and use them the entire time, or do we chose 2 free per chapter?

Edit: Also can we deploy undrafted units and then use them while taking a penalty(using Selphina to rescue someone in chapter 13 etc. ) ?

1. two characters for the whole escape

2. You can deploy undrafted units. And you would just take a regular penalty.

Thanks.

Chapter 3: 12/22

Took a couple of tries to get this down to 12 turns and get all the kids home. Eyvel and Leaf rushed the throne while Dagda took the random enemies to the west. Leaf is starting to be awesome and well be crazy useful in Manster. Oh and Eyvel had both door keys so she opened both doors asap to allow the rescue chaining to begin. Transfered the Fire and Light swords and both scrolls.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 11.84 34 12 1 5 12 11 6 5
Eyvel 16.92 29 9 4 18 20 10 7 8
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15

Chapter 4: 17/39

Chose Brighton and Karin as my two free units. Pretty much a standard clear of this chapter. Leaf and Fergus were clutch when I finally got around to opening the door. Lara is awesome even when she isn't opening doors and chests cause she halves one random units stats every turn by being captured. No one was left behind either for what that's worth.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 12.56 35 13 1 5 13 11 6 5
Eyvel 16.92 29 9 4 18 20 10 7 8
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15
Fergus 5.50 28 5 0 8 7 6 5 8
Lara 3.40 15 0 1 2 10 6 0 3

Your 17 is including the Lara penalty? On the first page, it says undrafted units may not be captured. Lara was free from 4-6 last draft, but falls under the "2 units for Manster" rule this draft, at least that's how I read it.

EDIT: also, 12 turns on chapter 3...just wow. I suppose Lifis does reduce the number of enemy phase deaths. ><

I drafted Lara which is why I didn't take a penalty for using her.

Chapter 4x: 18/39 turns

Gaidens are fun because I can take time and force a decent amount of exp into my units. Lara was cool for stealing and getting captured while everyone else killed stuff. Passed the scrolls around between Dalsin. Leaf, and Fergus for good levelups. Got all the treasures and Fergus has B swords for Fire Sword and Braves so gg badguys.

Double post to put up more logs. I'm done with the Manster escape, my chosen characters were Lara (3.52) and Fergus (16.54), and by the way Lifis becomes awesome when promoted.

Chapter 4 - 15/42 turns (16/34)

Characters available: Leaf, Lifis, Lara, Fergus

Lara goes down and opens the treasure door. Next turn, she lets Lifis out. Thank goodness for NPC units. Lifis picks the single chest in that first treasure room, and the unused units take the Chest keys to the other side to open those doors. The Door key on the armour is used to open the door and let Leaf and Fergus fight while the Thieves finish raiding the treasure. Brighton and Machua are left behind with no items; Karin makes Fergus crit a lot, so she stays.

Chapter 4x - 13 turns (13)

After the initial wave of enemies, everything went smoothly and everyone escaped, getting everything in the chests. Yay. Asvel was left behind, incidentally, and his Grafcalibur with him.

Chapter 5 - 24/66 turns (25/59)

I make sure Eyvel's cleared the arena of enemies before opening the door. With a couple of movement stars and the judicious use of Lifis (removing tomes from mages), we actually get somewhere pretty quickly. Oh, and Lifis used the Holy Water from the first priest to survive all those mage blasts in the middle, since they always target him. Unfortunately, I only got one Libro (capturing a priest), ignoring the chests. Everyone escapes.

Chapter 6 - 10/76 turns (8/67)

Characters available: Leaf, Lifis, Lara, Fergus, Hicks

Well. Hicks was kind of underwhelming, since both Leaf and Lifis hit level 20 and 18 speed. Lifis promoted immediately upon receiving the Knight Proof. Due to lack of Karin availability, I chose to go through the centre, in order to get the houses on the left. ><

Chapter 7 - 12/88 turns (8/75)

Straight escape map, with the added complication of recruiting Shiva. Since undrafted characters can rescue each other, it's Karin and Saphy to the rescue, and after getting Shiva, off I go. Shiva is a waste of turns - he'd better make up for it by being extra useful. If Lifis wasn't quite so awesome, he wouldn't kill everyone he meets, and I wouldn't have such a headache stealing swords from Shiva's group. Also, I got another Knight Proof and a Warp staff. I could've cut a couple of turns, maybe, I think. Hm.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Bld
Leaf 20.-- 37 11 5 10 18 12 5 8
Othin 14.28 39 11 0 11 16 10 8 14
Lifis 3.50 44 17 4 14 20 1 7 11
Hicks 6.64 base
Shiva 4.18 base
Carrion base

Goodbye, Lara, I no longer have to worry about keeping you alive. =D Chapter 8, bringing my team except Lifis who is fatigued. I have a Life ring and Defense ring...think I'll hang on to those until after chapter 9. This looks to be a good chapter for capturing lots of items.

EDIT: o right you drafted Lara I'm stupid

Chapter 5: 20/59

And this is were Fergus and Asvel are awesome. They took turns luring 1-2 range mobs and destroying them while everyone else cleaned up what was left. Dalsin had the three straight speed level ups AND got 1 more move which was unexpectedly awesome. Too bad he won't be able to keep up outdoors, but he should be cool indoors. Leaf killed what was left of Eyvels arena enemies and everyone escaped again.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 16.96 37 15 2 5 14 11 7 6
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15

Asvel 9.54 28 2 6 8 13 7 3 4

Chapter 6: 9/68

Leaf, Fergus, Dalsin, and Asvel go left while Brighton and Lara go left so I can store useless items and ditch the undrafted people without losing items. Fergus is boss and does things no one should be allowed to. Dalsin is cool for capturing people and not having his movement halved the next turn. Asvel is getting the Knight proof asap for promotion bonuses and staffs. I got all the villages and made it out without a movement to spare. Machua, Hicks, and Lifis were left behind. Asvel will promote as soon as he gets another hit/kill cause I don't wanna waste an easy level up.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 17.24 39 15 3 6 16 12 8 6
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15

Lara 5.34 16 0 1 3 12 7 0 3
Dalsin 14.02 32 14 0 6 9 3 11 16
Asvel 11.96 30 2 7 9 15 8 3 4

Chapter 7: 7/75

The mercs down near the bottom thought it would be funny to suicide onto Fergus. After that everyone hopped on a horse and went to the exit. Rescue chaining allowed Dalsin to just make it.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 17.48 39 15 3 6 16 12 8 6
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15
Fergus 17.92 39 12 2 14 14 11 9 11
Lara 5.34 16 0 1 3 12 7 0 3
Dalsin 14.02 32 14 0 6 9 3 11 16
Asvel 11.96 30 2 7 9 15 8 3 4

Chapter 8: 7/82

Fergis and Lara sat out due to fatigue. Dalsin and Asvel(after he got a kill so I didn't waste exp) promote and then make a beeline for the boss. Capturing him was tricky seeing as I had one unit who could and even with the Brave Axe he was going against a sword user on a throne. Still got lucky and completed the chapter quickly.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 18.80 40 16 3 7 16 12 9 6
Dagda 8.14 43 14 1 11 9 2 11 15
Fergus 17.92 39 12 2 14 14 11 9 11
Lara 5.34 16 0 1 3 12 7 0 3
Dalsin 1.84 32 17 1 11 11 3 15 17
Asvel 1.12 31 3 12 15 20 9 8 5

Chapter 8x: 18/82

Dalsin and Asvel are fatigued so Fergus(promoted on turn 2 after getting a level) and Dadgda duo with Leaf and Lara doing some stuff as well. Tanya get a pair of chest keys to help Lara loot the chests. The boss is annoying, but Fergus ORKO'd him with the Brave sword. Oh and while the chicks were looting I captured a couple of Axes and Bows. Leaf used the Leg ring and after some thought Dagda got tthe shield ring. Huge hp + high defense is a good idea.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 19.76 41 16 3 8 17 13 10 6

Asvel 1.12 31 3 12 15 20 9 8 5

Chapter 9: 4/86

Leaf solo. Also Karin carries Carrion over for the Elite Sword another reason why she's awesome. Saphy and axe brothers are left behind.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 20.00 41 16 4 8 17 13 10 7

I feel sad. Everyone's doing better than me.

Chapter 8 - 8/96 turns (7/82)

Good place to train up Hicks, Carrion and Shiva. Pretty easy chapter.

Chapter 8x - 15 turns (12)

Yay for Tanya having a Torch, makes life much easier. I stole the Lockpick from the boss too, and Othin killed him with Pugi. Got all the treasure, of course.

Chapter 9 - 8/104 turns (8/90)

Characters available: Leaf, Lifis, Othin, Carrion, Shiva, Hicks, Selphina, Alva

Left Tanya and Marty behind, used Shiva and Othin to kill some dragons. An unexpected movement star made the Fala scroll available. Also, I noticed that Shiva has a lousy Spd growth. Got the Elite sword, Othin promoted.

Chapter 10 - 11/115 turns (10/100)

Got the Rescue staff, Libro, a Storm with 2 uses left, and an S Drink. Both Othin and Shiva are fatigued for next chapter, and yes, I knew that going in. Carrion can survive one Daim Thunder hit, and dodge the rest, if he's standing on a fort.

Chapter 11 - 11/126 turns (8/108)

Just for fun, I stole Fred's Thunder sword. Since I neglected to buy any Door Keys when I had the chance, thank goodness for Lifis and Hicks. Selphina and Alva get out of the courtyard ASAP (can't handle ballistae), and Carrion and Hicks dismount and head in. I think maybe I should've let Othin sit out two chapters ago, goodness knows Shiva was doing all the dragon killing anyway. Oh well. And Hicks got movement.

Chapter 11x - 13 turns (8)

Got a couple of unexpected movement stars. In order to have Fred not enter combat, I used assorted 1-range units on the other side of the wall to bait the Javelin soldiers. =D Hicks went up to actually kill them and open the door for Olwen. Captured the boss on turn 8, along with the two mooks who had Wind; rescue-chained the little kids to escape; seized on turn 13. Carrion promoted.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Bld
Leaf 20.-- 37 11 5 10 18 12 5 8
Othin 6.28 39 14 2 18 20 15 13 17
Lifis 12.12 50 19 9 16 20 4 8 11
Hicks 17.08 37 11 1 13 10 12 9 18 (dismounted)
Shiva 15.24 36 12 0 15 19 11 7 7
Carrion 1.00 38 12 5 20 17 18 13 8 (dismounted)
Olwen 2.00 base
Selphina 9.74 23 6 3 7 11 7 6 5
Alva 7.42 26 8 1 7 14 6 6 11

Carrion is awesome and I like Lifis' HP. Selphina and Alva fail, Lifis and Shiva got Bld screwed...what's new?

Next - chapter 12, fog of war, keeping Mareeta out of trouble and capturing Salem. I'm finally going to get a staffer.

EDIT: A question. How does one keep Mareeta out of trouble, exactly?

Chapter 10: 8/94

Stupid ballistas. I had to retry this chapter like 8 time to finally dodge enough early on to get somewhere. In the end I gave Lara a Life Ring and had her equip the Elite sword and dodge tank a couple of ballistas. Eventually she got close enough to promote so I did it for the extra build. Fergus, Leaf, Dalsin, Asvel and sorta Dagda are trivilizing the game already. Robert is trying to joing the party so I had him kill the Soldiers and ballista north of the starting position. Loot includes Rescue, a stamina bag, and the first armors stuff.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 20.00 41 16 4 8 17 13 10 7

Robert 4.32 26 7 1 7 9 6 4 8

Chapter 11: 8/102

Easy chapter. Fergus, Asvel, and Leaf did most everything, and I probably shouldn't have deployed Dalsin, Dagda and Robert seeing as they didn't do much. I had them capture a couple of archers because they had killer bows which will be cool for Robert once he gets there.

Unit Level HP St Mg Sk Sp Lk Df Bld
Leaf 20.00 41 16 4 8 17 13 10 7

Robert 4.50 26 7 1 7 9 6 4 8

Chapter 11x: 19/102

Left Fergus, Lara, and Dalsin behind. Time to train Robert. I threw him into the hallway of death by himself. Next turn it was more or less empty. Fred freed the kids. I didn't recruit Olwen. Asvel staff spammed like crazy. Also wtf I swear I'm not reset abusing but Asvel has 9 move. Kinda scared of the revenge of the RNG god whenever it comes.

Chapter 12:6+4/112

Took the Karin penalty because of that sleep staff. Gave Mareeta Elite because everyone else is awesome already. Fred and Dalsin saved the south house, and Asvel got the north one. Lara stole Ambush which will probably go to Dagda to minimize Charge suicides. Had Dagda go to the arena and he got 3 sword users in a row. He killed them all and got 2/3 speed level ups. If he caps speed... Mareeta captures Salem and Leaf siezes on the same turn.

Chapter 12x: 17/112

Easy chapter. Deployed Dagda, Lara, and Mareeta. Let Mareeta get most of the kills, and stole and captured as much as I could. Got a bunch of slim swords , Armorslayer, and another Knight proof. I'll need one more if I'm going to promote Sleuf but it won't matter one way or another. An A in staffs can do that for you. Oh and I obviously had Lara go dancer.

Chapter 13: 7/119

Had my horse people and Asvel(lol 9 move) rush this chapter so no one would get to fatigued for chapter 14. Fergus dropped Leaf two turns away from the escape point and everyone cleared a way there. The generics gave there weapons to Glade and suicided or were left behind. Salem was also left behind.

Chapter 14: 10/129

Elite mode + focusing on 9 units makes this chapter much more manageable. Fred and Robert took the west gate, Dagda and Fergus the east one, Mareeta and Dalsin took the south west and east respectively. Asvel, Leaf (charisma) and Lara assisted where ever they were needed. Asvel killed one of the bosses on turn 3. Mareeta got to 18 and promoted. Around turn 5 I noticed the armors were dodging alot more than I expected thanks to the bosses 4 leadership stars, so I sent Mareeta and Dalsin after him. Fergus killed the Thracians. By turn 7 everything was dead except a couple of priests. Then the Dark Mages spawned forcing Dadga, Robert and Fred to run like hell.

Chapter 14x: 20/129

All horses, Dagda and Asvel dominated this level. Got 3 stamina bags and 3 rewarps. Asvel is one heal use away from C staffs. I'm aiming for B with him. Also don't know if I mentioned it before, but Fred got Wrath. I was originally saving it for Eryios, but then realized it would be overkill on him. I'll give him continue instead.

Sleuf is already proving his worth. On turn 1 he Warped Fergus to the Dark Bishop with warp, and Rescued Fergus after he captured him. Anyway most of this chapter was just rush the villages and then the throne. Robert, Asvel, Fred, and Leaf went to the throne while everyone else got the villages. Asvel made sure nothing did. Lara, Mareeta, Eryios and Fred were on the right side and killed all the Lenster armors and Xavier. Stole the continue manual for Eryios and Mareeta killed the boss. Gave door keys to whoever needed them and after breaking out, I made a beeline for the boss. Mareeta took care of him, and by turn 7 most of the chapter was routed. I thought Lara could steal the Killing Edges so I had her go up, but I forgot you need Build > Weapon weight so she solo'd them with a slim sword. After that it was a matter of capturing people and killing long range threats till turn 14. Things got hairy when one of the priests ran for the throne but Fred chased him down right before he could get there.

Well, this sucks.

Chapter 12 - 11/137 turns (10/118)

After an afternoon of trying all possible variations of "move Karin to the left and rescue Mareeta", I ended up RNG abusing Shiva to get a movement star on the first turn, so he could clear out enough enemies for Karin to fly through. Can I just say I hate the RNG. Ambush goes to Olwen, captured Salem with Carrion (who doesn't need to dismount to cross mountains, yay), seize on turn 11.

Chapter 12x - 11 turns (16)

It seems like I'm not going to get the interesting stuff after all. Just an Armourslayer, Defense ring and Knight Proof. Shiva got the Leg ring. Olwen gets Ambush, Life ring, Defense ring (I had one before this chapter) and Luck ring.

Chapter 13 - 8/145 turns (10/128)

I send out my mounted team (with Shiva in place of Alva), Carrion picks up Leaf, and all run for it, using maximum movement all the way. Shiva kills the boss on turn 7, and all escape on turn 8. Including two members of the Light Brigade, amazingly enough. Oh, and I got the Brave bow.

Chapter 14 - 10/155 turns (10/138)

Left Shiva behind so he wouldn't be fatigued for 14x. Bought two S Drinks (turns out I probably didn't need them, but whatever). Hicks reaches level 20 and promotes. Selphina avoids the ballistae. Salem uses Libro to heal people from safety. After defending the initial wave, Carrion and Lifis went down to Dean's house and stole/captured a whole lot of assorted items, including Blizzard. Now if I only had Asvel...oh, Salem reached B staves and Olwen reached A thunder.

Chapter 14x - 15 turns (20)

Leaf picks up Linoan and stands on a mountain. Shiva promotes. Lifis steals a Killer axe. Othin, Carrion and later Olwen pick up civilians and run for it, after Shiva kills the boss. Got 3 S Drinks and some Rewarp staves, nothing left to do after turn 15.

Chapter 15 - 5/160 turns (3/141)

Flierskip gives us 7-8 turns including penalties, depending on whether I want the Skill ring or not. I would also get a Restore staff. On the other hand, I can make good an Escape in 5 turns with more items. I already have a Restore staff. I also don't really need Amalda, she only has C staves and lousy stats, and prevents me from getting a 1 turn chapter 19.

Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Bld
Leaf 20.-- 37 11 5 10 18 12 5 8
Othin 11.82 51 15 2 20 20 17 13 18
Lifis 20.-- 56 20 4 16 20 4 9 12

Shiva 4.02 44 19 1 20 20 14 11 8
Carrion 7.10 40 18 6 20 20 19 15 8
Olwen 7.94 34 7 13 9 14 12 7 8
Selphina 15.52 26 7 6 7 13 11 6 5
Alva 18.62 37 12 2 14 20 13 10 13
Salem 1.40 27 0 17 11 10 5 9 6

If you're wondering about Lifis' magic, it turns out he was holding a Fire sword last time. 4 is correct.

No, Othin's strength is not a mistake. It's just pathetic.

Selphina is beyond hope, even with scrolls.

Lifis maxed out in 14x, we get the Neir scroll in 15. Good going, Lifis.

Next - chapter 16A, getting Eyrios's stuff, hopefully picking up Sleep swords. Considering the placement of Sol manual and Defense ring.

I think, for 776, 5 is a better number for drafting than 4. There's less arbitrary not-caring-about-characters. I bet everyone's going to go A route this draft, because really, 2 extra Warp staves against Miranda/Conomore/Shanam when you already have 9-10 good units and a free Sety? Miranda and Conomore are actually usable, but I dare say most of us would only go B route if we really needed them to make up the numbers.

Oh, one other suggested modification: Saphy takes two draft slots. Thoughts?

I've been waiting for someone else to post, so I wouldn't feel so lonely. I was done for about three days, and here's how.

Chapter 21x: 9/173

Nevermind what I said about this chapter being "real". The first 5 turns were spent spamming Magic Up with Asvel to get B Staffs with him, and I promoted Sleuf for fun. Then he and Sleuf Warp + Rescued Leaf for the warp staffs. Stole three warp staffs (net 6 warps) which along with rewarps and my other warp staffs should be enough for the rest of the game.

Funf: Galzus with Master Axe.

Zwolf: Sety.

Zwie: Sety rewarped here after killing zwolf.

Elf: Fergus was wapred in and Brave Sworded her to death.

Drie: Eryios + Fire Sword + Holy water.

Berzerkers: Leaf(wait till you see his stats), and Asvel helped some.

Beldo: Sety rewarped again.

And now as is the tradition character reviews.

Leaf: I got some good levels with him early on which let him take one Manster, and still be a good fighter once he hit 20. His promotion only helped for Chapter 20 and the Final because the rest was warpskipped, but a fighter who doesn't fatigue is awesome. This is also the most I've ever used him, and he didn't disappoint as a free unit.

Fergus: Him and Asvel were my co-MVP's what with early to late game domination. After 4x there was no question who my best fighter was and would be for the rest of the game. If I needed anything done he's the first guy I looked to do it. Fatigue was a non-issue for him and he only sat out gaidens basically. All in all an awesome fighter who joins early and never gets bad.

Asvel: The other MVP. He took till promotion to get to Fergus level domintion though, but he more than made up for lost time with Staffs. A frontline healer is invaluable in low turncounts, especially in FE5 only using 1 RN. He got C staffs by chapter 16 and B during 21x. The B staffs came in handy during 24 and Final thanks to forced positioning. As for weapons I had him using thunder and wind for the whole game with the occasional Grapcalibur thrown in on bosses. Another unit I definitely wouldn't mind picking again.

Dagda: Mainly was there for early and midgame. He was consistently good thanks to having the Sety scroll from level 7 on. Duel is stupidest skill in this game. It made him a long range tome/ ballista magnet. In the end though it didn't matter thanks to all the resourses I gave him. About chapter 15 he started to decline relative to the team, but was still very usuable. Once the warpskip started he became pretty useless, but so did anyone who couldn't use staffs, dance or kill bosses in one round.

Lara: One of four people (Fergus, Asvel, and Sleuf are the other 3) I wouldn't trade for anybody. She's a Thief AND a Dancer. What more utility could one unit have? Crucial for all the one turn warpskips and had enough move to not fall too far behind everyone before the warpskipping. Honestly I would pick her over Saphy in this draft because there are enough staff users that can get A staffs before Chapter 21, but only one unit can make other units this much better. Plus repair is pretty useless when everyone's ORKOing with Irons.

Sleuf: A staffs. 'Nuff said.

Mareeta: Mostly picked to avoid a penalty in Chapter 12, and to be a mid-late game boss killer. Helped with both roles perfectly. It also helps when she gets 2 movement ups(Dain scroll) to keep up with the Cav rushing. Late game she became my best fighter thanks too her skills, and personal sword.

Galzus: Did what he needed to. Not really to big a game changer, but neither was anyone else who was left. Plus I wanted Endgame help thanks to a majority of my picks being dismounted there.

Eryios: Another high fatigue fighter that I needed. I was actually kinda disappointed when he couldn't double much, but he made up for with hitting res and having a horse. Despite being kinda meh he was able to do his share in Final, so it's all good.

Fred: I was really suprised by how useful he was. Being a Paldin with good weapon ranks can do that for you. Wrath made him a mini-Fergus except he needed Steels while Iron would suffice for Fergus. He had a monopoly on Lances so he got what he needed when he did. If he had more speed he would've been much better definsively which would've gotten him used more extensively.

Robert: Bow monopoly, and getting a ton of levels in 11x made him a good "dangerous unit" killer. He mostly went after people with effective weapons and ballistas. He was also really durable so I could use him as bait incase someone took more damage than exepctededm and was my go to rescuer thanks to only killing one unit a turn anyway.

Dalsin: Awesome during the Manster escape and early in door chapters. He was useless later, but being usefull in Manster was all I wanted from him anyway.

Xavier: No way I was going out of my way to recruit a Worse Dalsin.

If we keep the no warpskipping till chapter 21 rule than Saphy isn't even a first round pick imo. Sleuf, Asvel(with some more work), Sara, Salem, and maybe Nanna can get to A staffs before then, and 3 out those 4 aren't worthless combat units. First rounders imo are Asvel, Fergus, Othin, Halvan, Fin and Lifis. And possible Lara if you can get a warper next round.

True that. There are enough warpers after 15 or so. I've never brought Nanna to A staves before, but Asvel can easily reach it before C17 if you don't mind an early promotion/not having Wind rank, so she shouldn't be a problem. (And hey, Sara's practically untouchable, who says she's not good combat?) I've learnt my lesson about good picks, too...but you'll get that in my summary.

What about the number of drafters, what's your opinion on that?

Increasing the number of draftees increases the number of usable units by the two, maybe three people who finish the draft, so it just serves to further dilute the unit pool. Plus five doesn't divide into 48 evenly. Although adding Sety and Evyal back to pool is possible, but I like it better this way.

I could've gotten Asvel to A staffs, but I thought I might actually need Psychics so he didn't spam them as much as he could. Nanna is an issue though, especially cause she gets no Staff Exp at promotion. Still could be possible with a lot of Psychics.

I made a typo about the whole "Sara being useless" thing. It was supposed to say 3/4 aren't useless..."". The sole useless one being Salem, although he could be decent with Wind and other light tomes.

Edit: Just checked and I had 27 uses of Psychic left which is another 81 staff exp. Easily could've gotten both Asvel and Nanna to A.

Ah. You'd have to add Cyas back to the pool as well. Including him, I believe there are 52 characters usable in all, so Leaf and Eyvel can be free. Since part of the point is to force use of normally unused characters, too many units per person defeats the purpose (see: Xavier, Amalda, whichever B route unit I didn't pick).

I looked it up, misread Ulir as Neir...turns out it's in 8x and I somehow missed it. Sigh. Anyway.

Chapter 16A - 9/169 turns (11/152)

Made use of the last Sleep staff use to get two Sleep swords. Captured Eyrios and took his stuff, too. Straight rush - I didn't rescue-drop Leaf after the first couple of turns, but he never had to wait around either and always moved full range.

After this point, Lancelot starts warpskipping everything. I'm going to use oval's per-chapter turncounts as a baseline until 21...already know he's going to crush me in total turncount, so I shan't bother listing those.

Chapter 17A - 9/178 turns (9)

Alva promotes. Carrion gets Warped up to the church with a Thunder sword and takes out all the dark-mage minions. He also gets two movement, courtesy of the Dain scroll. Yay. Othin is Warped up to the boss. Selphina and Alva visit villages. Hicks picks up Leaf and rushes to the throne, along with Shiva. Eventually I get Sara and all the items, seizing before Cyas shows up. I think Shiva got a movement too, sometime in the past few chapters.

Chapter 18 - 8/186 turns (6)

With Leaf moving the maximum 6 spaces per turn, it takes 8 turns for him to reach the throne. Shiva goes ahead and kills the armours, including Xavier; Lifis goes with him and steals stuff; Sara reaches level 19 with 8 movement. I knew it'd be a good idea to give her the Dain scroll. Salem used an S Drink, and Warped Othin in to get the Body ring and a Rewarp. Leaf promotes.

Chapter 19 - 1/187 turns (1)

Bye guys. See you in 21x!

Chapter 20 - 14/201 turns (14)

The 15 turn wonder. I abuse Rescue to move people around. Stole 3 of the 5 Killer swords. Sara promotes. She now has 10 movement, isn't life wonderful? Carrion gets the Body ring and Sol, Olwen gets the Defense and Magic rings, Alva gets Continue.

Chapter 21 - 1/202 turns (1)

Warpskip. Olwen with Daim Thunder.

Chapter 21x - 9 turns (17)

Sorry guys, you'll have to wait for Celice's people to conquer Barhara before they let you out. If you survive that long. I honestly don't care, since I got my 6 Warp staves and lots of other stuff.

Chapter 22 - 1/203 turns (1)

Selphina promotes. I don't know why I bother. Warpskip again with Olwen, and never mind the Holy sword.

Chapter 23 - 3/206 turns (2)

One turn to Warp Leaf up, one turn to recruit Sety, one turn to seize. If I so happen to have played around a little bit with other units, Warp staves and capturing, what of it?

Here's the last of it. I'll hope for second.

Chapter 24 - 2/208 turns (1)

Stupid unit positioning...Sety Rewarps to the top and takes out all the random mercs. Next turn, Leaf is Warped up and finishes off Leidrick. Wish I had someone else to use the Blagi sword. Anyway, Leaf gets a movement star. I swear I wasn't manipulating it or anything - this happened after I decided to just be satisfied with 3 turns.

24x is not required and nobody cares about Eyvel.

Final - 6/214 turns (6)

It took forever to get this strategy down...there's no cannon fodder to spare in a draft. >.> I only know Elf's name (ever tried transliterating German into Mandarin and back?) so the other people are labeled by distinctive feature.

Carrion is Warped to the Resire room, where he 1HKOs Elf.

I abuse the Sleep staves I have to make Olwen, Shiva and Alva's lives easier. They kill Galzus, that guy on the bottom right, and Eyvel respectively.

Sety opens the door and loses one of two Rewarp staves to the Thief. Next turn, Holsety bam. Eventually, after he's killed the other enemies in the place, Selphina is Warped up to the trigger.

Lifis opens the door for Leaf. Salem Rewarps behind him on turn 4 or 5, ready to send him up.

As for Sety, the reason Selphina is there is so he can Rewarp away. Immediately the door opens, he's there to kill Berdo. What an anticlimax.

Sety 20.-- 39 5 20 20 20 14 10 9 8

Observe Sara. I love the Hezul and Dain scrolls. Don't you?

Leaf 82W/0L/2940EXP

He had 12str/18spd through most of his levels, allowing him to kill things fairly well. His utility did drop off in the middle, as is only normal for a unit which can't promote. Just as well, since everyone out-moves him anyway.

Othin 122/0/3650

All-purpose capturer and damage dealer. Perhaps I shouldn't have broken the Pugi in C20, but by that time he was pretty good anyway. Except for the Strength. Useful throughout and absolutely indispensable in early chapters.

Shiva 84/0/2940

Recruiting Shiva is a waste of turns, but he's a good killer. With Sol and 4 PCC, along with decent Speed and Build, he's basically invincible. I gave him a Leg ring, and the result is carnage as he can keep up with mounted units. Even more carnage indoors, of course.

Lifis 48/0/3502

He kept the Hezul scroll throughout Manster, and the result is evident...and awesome. Thief utility never goes away. Around the middle when I was training up a whole lot of new low-level units, Lifis was my go-to guy for killing big things. And with Build level-ups, yes I was lucky, he became even better. Definitely worth choosing, even though I ended up missing Asvel and Fergus.

Sety 17/0/648

Holsety on a horse- wait, that's Seisen. But my point stands.

Hicks 59/0/2326

A little slow going at first, but I gave him the Hero axe and that helped, as did holding the Sety and Odo scrolls practically all the time. Once he leveled up a little, Hicks became an absolute monster and could basically kill anything and tank the rest (Wrath helped). But only in outdoor maps.

Selphina 21/0/976

She's good for hit-and-run attacks, though good unit positioning let her take on Bow Armours in C14 as well. Only really useful once she got the Brave bow, and she's always ballista fodder. Good grief.

Alva 48/0/2990

Started off weak, but high Speed allowed him to double early. Blocked a passage in 14 and it turned out he could kill stuff after that...don't ask me how, I don't know, it probably has to do with leveling up.

Carrion 90/0/3806

Incredible guy. I kind of regret not using him on previous runs, now that I've seen it. He failed to get Build a lot (8 build at promoted level 8 >.>), and was still awesome - that's how good he is. By training his Sword rank, I got to use him indoors too (see log of Final).

Olwen 45/0/1584

Ambush M and lots of stat boosting items, but let's be realistic, nobody else needed them except Selphina. And since Olwen gets good and Selphina doesn't, well...yeah, Ambush and Daim Thunder is a really good combination. Once she got a few levels and stat increases, anyway. Actually, Daim Thunder is just really good.

Salem 6/0/2762

Say it with me: A Staves. Salem and Sara were my warpskip team, and very good at that job, so who cares if he can't kill anything, even with Wind?

Sara 8/0/3312

Sara is awesome...can't kill bosses easily since she doesn't have Holsety or DThunder, but her primary purpose was staffbot anyway and she defends herself well (read: kills them all) when regular mooks attack her.

Eyvel, Dark Warlord

Lost her after C3 and never got her back, but she was (like Othin) absolutely indispensable during the time I had her.

Fergus 30/0/1354; Lara 0/0/152 courtesy of Manster

Thanks for nothing, Lara. I mean, opening things in 4 and 4x (two Thieves are faster than one) and nothing else in the whole of Manster? At least Fergus kinda makes up for it by being Fergus.

Tanya 2/0/482; Dagda 10/0/234 courtesy of 8x

You know what would have been good? If I'd remembered to give Medicine to these guys along with the Torch. But they did their job, and that's all I needed really.

Special mention: Mountain Thieves, C4

Thanks for protecting the civilians, guys. Hope you don't mind that we left you behind.

That's probably the fastest I've ever played through 776, and I saw the good sides of some less used units too. My drafting strategy probably needs work, and oval is obviously better at low turncount playthroughs, but this isn't too bad, I think, for something that deviates a lot from my usual playstyle. (For what it's worth, the game declared me to be at C rank.) I think my resource allocation could still have been better, since I had many unused items (2 Killer axes, lots of S Drinks, etc.) at the end.

Well. Get on with it, guys.

  • 2 weeks later...

Chapter 4 20 turns

I finally finished this chapter. It only took 3 weeks for me to finish this chapter. I got all of the chests and left behind Lifis, Felgus, and Brighton. My chosen units are Machua and Lara.

Chapter 4x 14 turns

I got this chapter on my first try. I got the Sety scroll and I will be putting it on Leaf for the next chapter. I got all the civilians. So I will be getting all the houses. The axe armor suicided on Lara with his Devil's Axe. I got all the chests.

Chapter 5 20+3 turns

Took down this chapter. Karin capped Luck and Speed. I took an Asvel penalty. Regular events happened and everyone escaped on turn 20.

Chapter 6 10 turns

Karin ferried Leaf around. I left behind all my other units after putting their weapons in supply. I got the Rapier, the Knight Proof(for Karin), the Odo Scroll and the Elite Scroll. Karin and Leaf escaped on turn 10.

Chapter 7 10 turns
