Maji
Actually, no. There's no penalties for not recruiting. I only recruited Maria because I needed the healing. If I had Lena or Wendell I would've skipped her. Alright, thanks for clearing that up, I'll skip Katua in Book 1 then. -Sigh of relief-. Icon of Sin
To be fair, skipping Est wasn't intended at all. I actually kinda forgot you needed Minerva, Maria and the other Whitewings, but when I saw that neither Katua or Paola appeared in Gra, I did question whether or not I'll be able to have Est. Oh well, she should be there in Book 2.
Icon of Sin
Chapter 17 - Raise the invincible Gladius! : 8/126 Sheeda, outfitted with the Star Orb and the Gradius, zooms ahead of everyone to fight with Misheil. After defeating him, she gives the Star Orb to Marth, who had the Light Orb already, and he goes to Gato's village to claim Starlight Explosion. Meanwhile, Jeigan headed west to shop a few Dragon Killers. The rest of the team didn't do much. George and Kashim sniped a few Dragon Knights, Banutu, Oguma and Astria got a few kills, Wendel healed, Boa and Michelan sucked, the same old deal as always. Jeigan and Sheeda open each chest while everyone else helps by fighting off the enemies for Marth, Banutu and most importantly Wendel to pass. Once Garnef strikes, he decided to choose Wendel and gets a 3% killing critical in the face. Marth kills the Garnef on the throne the next turn and seizes after another one. Sheeda got Zemcel with the Gradius early on, so Marth didn't have to fight him. I find it funny that the Armory sells Knight Killers when the next map is indoors and this one doesn't have any Paladins. Wendel healed with Reserve after every turn with Astria protecting him. Banutu defended Marth's rear end, Boa opened the door and the eastern squad only survived. Final Book 1 Comments : Marth (48 kills) : Early on he was rather neglected considering the great quality of my other units, but once he got the Boots he was ready to rock and roll. A few stat boosters to boost his solidity helped him a lot. Sheeda (79 kills) : Simply excellent. Her flying utility is unrivaled in Book 1. Getting Strength blessed early on also helped. Jeigan (24 kills) : Good fighter early on, great utility unit later on. 10 movement is good for shopping missions when Sheeda needs to do most of the fighting. Oguma (56 kills) : Another excellent unit that comes early. Only really slowed down by low movement, but is better than most in indoor maps. Kashim (45 kills) : Early on, great for chip damage and killing flyers. Later on, pretty good player phase offense. His mobility is also appreciated. Wendel (11 kills) : Probably the best healer you can have since he can also do great chip damage from his base level. Power Rings made him more useful by increasing his healing output and turn some of those chips into clean kills. Banutu (31 kills) : Definitely great. Book 1 enemies are so weak that he kills most of them in one hit assuming he hits. Makes a great recipient for Secret Books, though an Angelic Robe also increases his durability by a good 14 HP. George (20 kills) : He was okay. Good against flyers and could chip damage well or kill weakened enemies. No enemy phase sucked for him, however. Boa (2 kills) : Can't complain about a free unit, but I barely used him. He mostly helped in getting 2 Libro heals with Wendel. Michelan (12 kills) : Low base level, stats, movement. Thankfully the enemies are extremely weak, but he's still worthless. Astria (17 kills) : Pretty much George but with an enemy phase and more versatility thanks to swords. And now, the War of Heroes. I won't like the first three chapters... Edited August 11, 2011 by Dio
Maji
Chapter 9: The Little Girl With the Taser Turns Taken: 12 I had to use a couple of extra turns recruiting Linda who will most definitely be worth it, and George for the free Silver Bow for Gordon. Anyway, started by wasting further turns killing the initial oncoming Pegasus Knights and Socials/Horsemen so Marth can waltz up to the throne. Marth is manly and dealt with the Ruffians without no problem at all, even breaking his sword on the last one so Linda can get the kill. Thanks to 1~2 magic, she managed to do a bit of shopping for her (so she doesn't have to burn through her uhmazing book) AND kill that one remaining thug. After it was clear to go, the group advanced, while the injured (Biraku, Jeigan and Raddy) stayed behind out of fear of being sniped off by a Shooter. The boss figure came along, but was abruptly cut dry by Marth, Maji, Doga and Linda, in which Linda got the Power Ring to deal with that whole Mg = Atk issue and to make Aura that more deadly for Thief killing. Sorry Jake, looks like you'll have to come back when you got a face! (In which Marth wasted a turn killing the theorized Jake because no one but him was in range.) Gordon consumed the Speed Ring so he can be an Archer with a Silver Bow AND awesome speed, cause quite frankly, even Doga had better Spd than him. WIN Moment: Gordon went from meh to WIN by a combination of George's Silver Bow and the Speed Ring. Shin
Chapter 16 - Darth Camus 9 turns I seriously don't understand why he chose the bad guys, he would make the last few chapters so much easier. I abandon Est and the Miracle sword, those mountains are evil and I'm not willing to fight reinforcements. Navarre saves the day as usual, killing the Paladins. Matthis doesn't do too badly either, he's probably ready to promote. Saji and Zagaro steal kills but really can't do that much. Matthis, Tomth and Arran take the forts, leaving Navarre and co to storm Camus. I promote Marich, thank you consistent XP gain! Sheeda manages to get Lorenz, that's Tomth replaced and Navarre crits Camus so Marth can capture on turn 9. Matthis promotes and actually becomes quite good - especially with the Gradius Lance. He actually saves Gato. Couldn't Gato just protect it himself? A lucky level up sees Zagaro using the Partia. Minerva takes Michalis all the way around, until Marich finishes him off with a well placed Excalibur. Things go to plan until Arran gets picked off the reinforcements. Not wanting to start the chapter again, I value his noble sacrifice. Jeigan buys lots of water and Marth captures on turn 12. Wait, if Arran's dead, how will he appear in book 2? I have Marich, Navarre and Julian accompany Marth. Saji manages to block off the right passage with healing from Boa. Yay for nobody picking him! Matthis, Rena and Jeigan only hold out long enough for Rena to Reblow Marich. Julian soon kicks the bucket after trying to take on the Generals. The gang head up the right passage way, thankfully avoiding any evil hits. Marth gets to Mediuth and gets lucky, without dodging on enemy phase he would have died. Capture on turn 101 Only Marth, Navarre, Marich, Boa, Minerva and Saji survive. Saji may be lamer than Maji, but he lived! I don't have kills because I forgot to save state :P. Let's just say Navarre had a fair share Marth - Prince of Pantslessness Not too shabby. He had to team up with Jeigan early on but it went well. His speed wavered midgame, but soon picked up again. Jeigan - Noble Sacrifice Didn't really improve that much, he fizzled out as soon as Matthis promoted. Saji - Better than Maji Just kidding he was a loser, it's a miracle he lived through it all. Julian - Another noble sacrifice Not really one for combat, at least I didn't have to buy door keys! Rena - Noble sacrifice the third Healbot. She was much appreciated but sadly died. Navarre - Survived to disappear The stats say it all, I love this man. Marich - The magic man A great unit, although does miss his old teacher. Matthis - Fourth noble sacrifice He actually wasn't too bad. Not quite as good as Cain or Abel but he was fine. Zagaro - Jeigan with a bow He's a horrible unit, don't pick him ever! He did make some use of the Partia. Boah - Healbot the second All he did was keep Saji alive in the final chapter. That is all. Arran - Dragon chewtoy He took far too many turns to get and didn't do much. His death didn't really matter. Lorenz - Kablamo! Does this mean I don't have to kill him in book 2? Darros
Yay Shin and Dio! You're halfway done! As for me... not quite yet. Chapter 12 (7/126) My total turncount blooooooooooooooows Anyway, despite constant failure, I am quite enjoying this (as with EVERY DRAFT IVE EVER DONE). I Took 7 turns. Marth ate a Power Ring, and I had to sacrifice a turn due to MArth getting literally surrounded. Gharnef didn't give me trouble, yay. Marth capped his level. Chapter 13 (13/139) The Libro Staff is Marth's BFF. Rickard decided to be useful (wat) and open doors, and after that Cain and Marth pretty much did the rest. Also, it just hit me that I won't be able to promote both cavaliers. :< 14 (LOLOLOLOL4/143) Actual low turning, wat. Rickard is a good pick if Julian is taken. Also I love the Dragon Killer Sword. Chapter 15 (10/153) Jagen died, but he sucked anyway, I don't really care. Edited August 23, 2011 by Darros

Shin
The first book isn't too bad. However, the second is a nightmare after chapter 2. It may have been my bad unit choices but the dragons are incredibly difficult to kill without Linde. Oguma dies quickly and can't really protect the children and the game throws armours at you very early on.

Meanwhile, Paola goes in the mountains and kill the Dragon Knights dropping items. She then challenges Ryuke with her Silver Lance before Marth stabs him in the throat. After recruiting Sirius, Marth, Oguma and Kashim head south to Gile's throne, killing Pirates and Hunters along the way. Gile is slain by an Iron Sword critical by Marth. He definitely did not disappoint as only Dragon Knights were too much for him. Alan : I like him more than Jeigan considering he has a better Speed base, meaning he can double with other weapons than a Slim Lance. Granted, he won't grow much, but he's still useful. I'll see if I can't do something about him with promotion items later, but I'm not sure. Ryan : He started very much like Book 1 Kashim, doing chip damage here and there. However, Marth's lowish Strength at the beginning was helpful in getting him some kills. Starting in late Chapter 2 with Dragon Knights, he was now Alan's brother in arms, slaying swarming Dragon Knights but also Social Knights Alan would leave alive while using an Iron Lance. Oguma : For the only map I used him, he proved to be pretty much Marth's equal : doubles, kills shit, takes a few hits to die but dodges reliably in forests. He does have more levels ahead of him to play with his stats, but Marth might get the Boots later as well. Yumina : Only used her once, but she made Chapter 4 easily completed in fewer turns. Rescue for Top Tier. Kashim : Pretty much a carbon copy of Ryan or his Book 1 self. Edited November 2, 2011 by Bender B. RodrÃguez
Shin
I'm still trying. I actually started the second book again so I don't break my rapier! Icon of Sin
Chapter 5 : Best. Boss. Ever. 7/189 The party is split into two as Marth, Alan and Oguma go west through the bridge while everyone else is against the wave of Social Knights and Mages. Alan goes ahead to kill Toras with an Iron Lance. I delay the seizing for a bit so that Sheeda can sell a few useless items at the Secret Shop and buy an Orion Bolt. I also buy a few Door Keys. Fuck Boa. Anyway Julian went east along with Ryan, who had too low movement to be useful on the other team. He ended up slaying the northeastern Bishops for some experience (enough to promote now) and the Secret Book. The other team rushed past the Armorknights by trading orbs and the Armorslayer around, or being nobility and using the Rapier. Marth opens the door and kills "Navarre" with a critical after evading a first hit. He rushes ahead to the throne room to stab most Armorknights to death and helps Oguma to avenge Lawrence. It turns out however that Lang had Cancer and gave it to Oguma. I'm really sorry for him. Oh wait what? The Cancer Orb that gives massive defense growth bonus? Cool shit, bro. Sheeda goes ahead of everyone while Navarre slices the shit of the Thieves. Feena dances for both of them to make it easier. None of them escape in the end. Nothing interesting happened other than Wendel killed the Fire Dragon. The shop sells crap and the reinforcements weren't much of a problem. Marth goes east to recruit Banutu. Kain goes with him to shop. Kashim goes south to nail the Leo Orb Shard Thief with a headshot while everyone else head north. The Generals are pricks, but the support between Oguma and Sheeda helps quite a bit in avoiding lances and getting criticals. After clearing the way, Yumina uses her Rescue staff on Marth, Gordon talks to George and Marth seizes. Like in my Book 1 run, I gave an Angelic Robe to Banutu to enhance his toughness by 14 HP, as well as the Skill book to make him less likely to miss. Alan : Weakens faster than Jeigan since enemies get stronger faster than in Book 1. At least his speed is still rather decent. Ryan : Fights with Kashim and now George for chip damage. Kashim is superior, but he might be better indoors later once I promote him, which shouldn't take too long. Oguma : His low movement is his only drawback. His killing output is still great and his support with Sheeda is very much appreciated in tough spots. Yumina : She doesn't get much experience but she does her job fine. I only hope she can max her Weapon Level so she can use the Again staff in tandem with Wendel. Kashim : Higher movement, strength and his Killer Bow make him better than Ryan for now. I'm very tempted to promote him, but I'll likely wait at the tail end of chapter 12 to do so. Sheeda : Simply excellent. Her great movement and flight makes her a frontline contender at all time outdoors and she's the perfect holder of orbs, even if I don't make her hold more than 2-3 at a time. Wendel : So far he wasn't used much but magical chip damage was valuable against the Fire Dragon and the Akaneian Generals. Soon, his effective damage against some types of Dragons will make him even better. Edited November 3, 2011 by Bender B. RodrÃguez

Getting the Boots soon will help in faster completions at least. Alan : Barely saw any action. The Speed Ring on him probably wasn't the brightest idea. Ryan : His movement is getting irritating, but I don't mind to wait a bit to promote him. Oguma : I wish wings would grow off his back, but he kills dragons just by looking at them, so he's still fine. Yumina : Definitely promoting her as soon as possible. She doesn't get much experience otherwise. Kashim : Same old Kashim. George being better this time around does give him good competition, but since Ryan is left behind most of the time, it's decent chip coming off these two. Sheeda : wings for auto MVP. She should promote next chapter with nearly maxed strength and defense on top of that. Wendel : I love this old man. Heals nicely in the frontlines while slaying dragons like a pro. Banutu : He takes way more damage this time around with the Barbarians, but he still makes a good wall with a healer nearby. George : Way better than his Book 1 incarnation. It does help that he comes before an area filled with feeble Mages and flying targets he can snipe with ease.

Icon of Sin
Chapter 13 : Frozen river. 7/267 My army is divided in three groups : Oguma and Ryan go west to use the secret shop, sheeda and Marth who zergrush to the throne and the rest to take care of the eastern enemies. Alan, George and a nameless Thief share the job of opening the chests. Right before seizing, Marth uses the Boots. Sheeda promoted early in this chapter as well. Banutu is a mixed blessing, since while he kills Ice Dragons in a single hit, he takes just enough damage to be killed himself in two hits. Pretty much all enemies are killed in the first three turns, the rest of the turns being Marth going from tower to tower so that he can seize the throne. Chests opened by Alan, George and Oguma. He even killed all the incoming Thieves. Meanwhile, everyone else headed east to stop Est from being butchered. Abel was in the way, but since Marth happened to stop nearby, he recruited him. Est goes to the arena a bit, borrowing the Star Orb, which she didn't need in the end. Marth used the Talisman acquired the last chapter. Sadly, the enemies are too weak to inflict damage to Banutu and instead hope to stall his transformation, which makes me bring Ryan and Oguma back to help them. George recruits Astria and the two go open the chests the Thieves didn't take. After catching the Earth Orb Thief, Marth is rescued by Yumina and goes north to kill Willow and seize the throne. The stat ups I gave him recently definitely helped in making him survive longer. Alan : Almost useless in a fight. His 10 movement advantage won't mean much when a good amount of maps will be indoors soon. Ryan : His low movement actually helped him get side jobs that gave him good experience. Somehow surpassed Kashim in usefulness. He's pretty awesome as a Sniper. I didn't expect much of him and he's surprising me a lot. Oguma : Finally promoted, he put his game face on and he's ready to cut through any fool standing in his way. Yumina : Since I got a few Libro staves, I'll delay her promotion to Pales or so. She doesn't need much Wlv growths to use the Again staff anyway. Kashim : He was a bit underpowered lately, since Mages and Flyers mostly vanished for Heroes, which he didn't double, and Paladins, who are a bit harder to kill. Sheeda : not much left to say about her. Sadly, she'll be on foot more often than not for the last five chapters of the game. Wendel : He melts Ice Dragons nicely, but his magic is deadly against human opponents as well. Still a good healer, I only wish he would be either more durable or a female so he could use Resire. Banutu : Ice Dragons were a threat to him, but the weak Akaneian soldiers barely dent him, especially with a few Defense level ups. George : Better than Kashim but in the shadow of Sniper Ryan. He's still rather valuable to my team since he can weaken enemies for Est to kill. Est : Didn't use her much. She cleans weakened enemies nicely. I'll try to use the most of her flight utility for the next few chapters. Edited November 5, 2011 by Bender B. RodrÃguez
