Volke and Stefan can double Auras, which is probably better than Blood Tide (although I just might be underestimating the skill), as well as help in the 4-E-1 rout. Stefan can also deal good damage to Deghinsea with a Wyrmslayer. I'd say go with Stefan if he won't cost you a turn to recruit in 4-3, otherwise go with Volke.
