whase
when you're not using your thieves for combat, which is very likely to happen,it doesn't really matter if you use Matthew or Legualt. Chests remain chests and can be opened by either of them. though for stealing, Legualt will now be better than Matthew due to their stats. 7/
Frosty
I'm sorry (and I'm not trying to be a dick), but better = more good. So no "more" needed in front of it. Legault looks like he'd be a much better assassin than Matthew, with bases for more than just speed esp skill (no squandering 3 skill books on matt). His affinity gives him no crit boost though, so that's up to 6.25% lethality lost. Useful thief too with those bases. 8/10 Whoops...
arvilino
Even though he's not getting a promotion in ranked Legault is a pretty decent unit up until he's level 20. Also rare for an unmounted sword user he has 9 con and 17 base speed, he's likely to still be doubling with the Long Sword(which otherwise would likely go unused) and Iron Blades. 7/
Kngt_Of_Titania
wat On a pure utility basis (which was basically what I was replying to), where combat is completely ignored, Matthew wins. He comes earlier, can steal more, and caps SPD faster. When combat comes into play, Legault wins because of his respectable durability and the fact that he can actually fight. Legault's combat is actually rather nice because his 9 CON is decent (better than Guy's 5 and equal to Sain/Kent's) and his SPD base/growth is pretty awesome, so he doubles with heavier crap early on. And then, if you ever promote him, he goes into random OHKO mode, where he can basically ORKO almost everything, given a little luck. The ONLY thing holding Legault back from being one of the better (best?) combat units is Fell Contract -- it costs 5 times too much and comes about 5-6 chapters too late.
