Chocolate Kitty
So the rules for this are fairly simple, follow the guidelines and that's about it. :P Ask for clarification if needed. Guidelines: -Make your maps original, don't copy/steal someone else's design. -16 colors and hack box sized :P Alright, so this time we'll do that "work off a base map" deal from a few rounds ago. This time, however, there's choices: Folks can choose either indoors or outdoors. The border squares can be deleted obviously. The base portion can also be moved around as seen fit. However, do not alter its contents. If you choose the indoor base, you must add an additional chest somewhere on your map. If you choose the outdoor base, you must add an additional village OR 2 houses (The 1 tile variety). Dimensions: 15x10 to 30x30 Palette swaps are allowed, but the actual type of tileset needs to remain the same (Overworld/Generic Castle). Custom palettes are a go. GBA FE Tileset Link Feaw Custom FE Tileset Link Tiled Link Mappy Link Winners shall pick the next map to be revamped, any map from FE(or anything similar to FE ex Tear Ring Saga) that isn't GBA FE for obvious reasons lol or a new map and tileset like normal Winners of 3 contests in a row are barred from entering the round following their 3rd victory. All participants must vote in the round they entered or they will be barred from entering the following round. Refusal to cooperate consecutively will result in multiple bars. Note: Let's try to actually make maps and not Photoshop creations. Feaw
One little question; I know you said the current tiles cannot be altered, but can I at least change their graphics a little, like, for example the walls, to adapt them to my mapping style? Example of what I mean; It's essentially the same, with only a veeery minor change to it (the way I like it more). Is this acceptable? Chocolate Kitty
i asked the same question, prime never said yes or no so wait for his response on that one although i think that shading doesn't look good, doors shouldn't cast that much of a shadow Edited June 6, 2012 by Kitty of Time
Feaw
Yeah I know it's not realistic, but iunno, it just looks better to me.

Primefusion
Oh, fine. If you've got a gripe with shading go ahead and adjust. I always forget that FE8 has those corner shaded walls =/ Kenshi, why not just shrink the beach then? Celice
And make a huge useless blotch in the map? I actually like what's there--it feels like some shambly settlement :p
Anouleth
And make a huge useless blotch in the map? I don't think that map should just throw houses in any old place just because they don't want it to look empty...
SimSimma
Kenshi, why not just shrink the beach then? I did actually shrink it from what it was when I started the map but I felt making any smaller would make the map more boring. I actually like what's there--it feels like some shambly settlement :p My brother actually said the same thing when I asked him about the beach haha Oh I see now, thanks for that seph Edited June 6, 2012 by Kenshi

My brother actually said the same thing when I asked him about the beach haha Also I'm new here and can't figure out how to properly quote someone, can someone help me? Click the multiquote button in the corner of someone's post, and then click add reply at the bottom of the page. It'll put all the posts you clicked multiquote on into your reply. if you're replying to just one person, click the reply button near the bottom of their post. And idk a thing about mapping lol so not much I can say :
CT075
I wouldn't mind one or two but I think you should either spread them out a bit more or make them look less random if you want to make it look like a small settlement since right now i think it just looks cluttered
Celice
I don't think that map should just throw houses in any old place just because they don't want it to look empty... Well, if they want the beach, then filling it with content is a way to justify keeping it. My only suggestion would be to make it a little greener farther away from the water--just enough to give the implication of stable soils underneath. But the location, I get the feeling of the glamourous Dragon Quest casino-type areas. It's put there just because like L.Al That, along with combing-out some of the rigid land designs. Just a bit though, so the map doesn't look equally-artificual in its randomness.

Klokinator
Aura, I'm getting a lot of height error vibes. Maybe it's just Prime rubbing off on me, but I think there's a lot of areas that are scaled incorrectly.
Chocolate Kitty
nope, no height errors the top right stairway looks odd, but there's nothing technically wrong with it
Klokinator
I'm not sure what the squiggly lines are supposed to represent but I'm pretty sure you're a better mapper than me so I'll shut up. (I mean, I HOPE you are, if you're not then you must suck :V)
Chocolate Kitty
always some coy response from you the colors represent a height, all the same colors = all the same height you should really work on not coming off as a douchebag all the time
Klokinator
It's hard man, I don't get to be a douchebag IRL because, "lol professional attitude so I can get a job" so I have to be a douchebag online. I try, I really do. It's just hard man. I've got kids, man. Goats.
Celice
nope, no height errors the top right stairway looks odd, but there's nothing technically wrong with it I think it's odd because despite the descent from the stairs, the floor doesn't reflect that. I think with descents like that there's usually a wall-piece either along the top or at least at the stair itself to set apart the descent and the floor. Here, it's a sudden and jarring connection. The map also has a few other aesthetic errors, but they're minor.

Aura Wolf
Extended the height of the map so the staircase (hopefully) doesn't look as weird.
Chocolate Kitty
it's the tile that should be changed, because it still looks weird Edited June 12, 2012 by Kitty of Time
