Ok, I got in mind many of those games from Celice's list.

Now I still need recommendations for Genesis and TurboGrafx16 games. Other than the obvious Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage games.

The Phantasy Star series (well the first three [i think four is on another system]) are on the Gensis, it's a great RPG

What's the game... Der Langrisser was the name of the Super Famicom remake. Ah... Warsong! That's it. It's a SRPG which plays like Fire Emblem. That's on the Genesis, or something. Also, Wonder Boy in Monster World is a great side-scroller, at least from my memory. Plays like a Zelda II game :/

If you like fast-paced run and gun style games, give the Contra series a whirl. There's Contra and Super C for the NES, and Contra: Hard Corps for the Genesis. Hard Corps is my personal favorite.

I knew I was forgetting something.

Anyway, some PC-Engine games:

Ai Cho Aniki (Sequel to Cho Aniki)

Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (Dracula X: Rondo of Blood)

Cho Aniki

Gates of Thunder

I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff (again).

EDIT:

Some NES games Celice forgot (?) to mention:

Castlevania

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (the Japanese one is better imo)

Konami Wai Wai World

And some GB games I remembered:

The Castlevania Adventure

Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge (awesome game, highly recommended)

Naw, I just went through and chose things I liked.

Also, don't forget the hacking front. There's a multitude of great NES hacks and homebrew you might want to try out. Recently there was a Famicom pirate of FFVII, as well as Dragon Quest VIII, and I think Chrono Trigger.

Good music--atrocious gameplay. Too. Damn. Slow. Physics are out of whack too :/

Luckily, there's a good hack to compensate some.

Argh. I hate it when people bring up the OMG SLOWNESS into argument.

Therefore, I will NOT argue because I might suddenly explode. So please do not answer this post...
