Shin Posted October 15, 2012 Share Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Some of the others were in pretty bad shape. Varon wasn't terribly apt at fighting, and his light armour did him no favours. Tordel looked down at his own armour, he could probably take a couple of hits. With this in mind, he taunts Brodie. "Hey, the ugly one with the sword! You guys aren't too shabby. You've managed to taken down one of our own... it's a real shame that it cost five of your men to do it. Maybe you should try something more on your level... like cheese cutting or sheep shearing." Tordel laughed mockingly, even his boys could handle something that simple. Hopefully Jack would take out one of the others. Jack's turn. Getting over to her location as quickly as possible, he took out her other attacker with a vicious swing of his blade. Standing for a second looking at Lena's body, he sighed. No more deaths. No more. Running over to Varon, he yells to the man "Stay behind me. Focus on healing yourself and others. That's where you're needed." He heard Tordel taunting the other soldiers and nodded to him in appreciation. "We can do this! Just work together." Autohit, Lara's at -7 HP, she dead. Feeling that he was receiving very good advice, he took a few steps back to get behind the safety of the frontliners before attending to some of his gashes. Varon used poultice on himself. Seems it had staggered him well enough for the fight to progress a tad without him, shame. Still, they had not taken the chance to off him, and it would be a grave mistake, that he would ensure. Spotting a scout nearby, Leonhard grinned. "DO NOT THINK YOU'RE THE ONLY ONES CAPABLE OF BLUDGEONING A MAN! HERE, LET ME SHOW YOU HOW IT IS TRULY DONE!" He shouted, and foregoing the blade entirely, Leonhard rammed the broad side of his cleaver across the side of Ree's head, sending the man back a ways, and looking as though he had just been struck by a collapsing barn. Jacob looks around. One of the enemies is laying on the ground, almost dead, and another is surrounded by Jacob's allies. That only leaves the heavily injured man in front of him. "That is for the worst fucking ambush in all fucking history!" Tordel and Jack mercilessly cut down Brodie before he gets the chance to strike, and the combat is over. The day is won... more or less. As he looked around he noticed the old man from the start of the battle. He angrily grabbed him and dragged him to the center of the carnage. "Was it worth this? However they convinced you to participate in their ambush. Was it worth this?" Dropping the man to the ground he walked away from the scene of battle. "We bury Lena and then carry on. Loot the bodies of the bandits and then just leave their bodies in the woods. There's nothing more we can do here." He slammed a fist against a tree and stared off into the woods. I'm not sure how many more deaths I can take. I'm at least partially responsible for these men. Am I just leading them all to their deaths? Jacqui pulls her axe out of Ree's head, kicking the bandit's corpse onto the turf. "You should have died with honour. Now, you get this. Was it really worth it... ?" The old man's body jerks and twitches before finally collapsing. "Fucking coward..." Jacqui spits on the body, and mops at the cut on her brow with a cloth. Jacqui devotes some time to plucking out their trademark iron teeth, however, reasoning "It might be worth some kind of bounty... and failing that, it's good iron someone will want sooner or later." And so, you head into Caril. It's not exactly in anything approaching a heyday, considering all the guards. You've made sure to conceal any obvious signs of allegiance; surcoats and kite shields, for instance, are hitched onto an ox you found wandering near the wrecked wagon, and concealed under layers of brown cloth. You could pass for any sellswords, now. It's almost midnight... Jacqui's been forcing you to march, reasoning that with a bit of effort you'll get to Caril and bedrest, and it appears to have worked. You run into a reasonably mediocre-looking pub, the Drowned Bull. Jacqui nods at the rest of you, almost panting. This has been a hard march on all of you. Marlowe, with the largest presence of any of you, shoves the door open... ... and you almost immediately recognise the men sitting scarcely two tables away from the door. It's the other band!
