Terrador
All right, Monstrously Random Recruitment. Those of you who are part of the Skype chat have probably heard me talk about it; basically, I randomly reclass everyone; they may or may not become monsters. I made a few tweaks (no Dancers/Manakete/a few other OP classes, Tethys and Myrrh stay as they are, Trainees get autoleveled to 10 before being reclassed to a first-tier class), and did a run. It was awesome. And I want y'all to help me on this one! I want your opinions on what route to take, who to use, what to try to accomplish kill Formortiis with Divine!Bishop!Marisa!, what promotions to take, et cetera. But for the most part, I want you to laugh at how broken this is, in both the good way and the bad way. LESDODIS. Prologue: Manly, Manly, Manly, Manly... and Eirika. Okay, so we have a Mage and a Warrior. Hrm... I know that Mage(F) bases are terrible, and Eirika has just her class bases... this is gonna be fun. Let's check our units out. One base AS. One. And she's 2HKO by 10 Atk. I... have no words. Let's just hope that her Speed growth carries her through unlike last time... Aight, I like this. He's strong, he's fast, and he's durable... enough. Let's have some fun. I think I'll burn some Vulneraries to train Eirika, and maybe build support. I think they'll hit C. Okay... that hurt. And yeah, this is what this looks like on the defense. And on the offense... A 4HKO. Good enough, I suppose...? Two successive hits force Seth to burn his first Vulnerary way too early... ...Three 42 displayeds in a row. Isn't that something like a 5% chance? Letting Eirika field the last one. Seth will lure the boss, chip HARD, then Eirika will steal the kill. Only two Vulnerary burned! Woohoo, dodging! ...you're not going to do this to me, Eirika. No way. And he'll give Eirika a Speed proc if he knows what's good for him. STEP ONE GOOD JOB, SETH Eirika getting doubled and one-rounded... this is going to be familiar for quite awhile. With Fire, of course! (Please don't mind the state; I was checking if there were further lines to that death quote.) I'm totally okay with this. You might do alright, Eirika... you might do alright. Well, that's that for this episode. Tune in next time for Chapter 1: Frelian Cavalry* *May not contain actual cavalry. Use at your own risk. If you have an Enemy Phase lasting for more than four hours while using Frelian Cavalry, please turn off the game and consult your doctor. Momentai~
This looks really cool! Aww, no dancer Gilliam? I do hope Gilliam will be a pegasus knight instead... Kon
Ooh, I've seen a couple of these on the nuzlocke forums. This outta be good. :D Although using the default pallets is boooooooooring. I think the messed up pallets are fun to see, personally. Well, that or you could rearrange the characters' pallets to fit their new classes, but that might be a bit too time consuming.
Terrador
I'm afraid I can't do anything with palettes or such. Due to my utter inability to code, my only tool for modifying the game is Codebreaker. That means that I have to edit characters when they come under my control; I can't do so while they are NPCs or enemies. I theoretically could, but I'm not going to try doing that research myself. It also means no palettes, no modifying growths... you get the picture.
Terrador
Chapter One: Frelian Cavalry* *may not include actual cavalry. Consult your doctor before taking Frelian Cavalry. If you are turtling for more than four turns, please consult your doctor, because this could be a sign of a serious lack of skill. All right... Wimpy and MANLY, off to save the world... or seize a castle. That works too. Eirika chips this here Fighter for a smidgen of EXP. Seth has to finish him off; his 6 AS doubles Eirika, and he 2HKOs her. Thankfully, 91% displayed tends not to miss often, if ever. NIDHOGG SETH Hi-ho, reinforcements! The Frelian Cava--... what. A Priest... and a floating eyeball. A blight upon this world. AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO PASS FOR CAVALRY. ...I'm remembering a Franz x Gilliam support. One about Frelian knights training every finger. Hehehehehehehe. Okay, he's shit. I'll be the first to admit it. By the time he promotes, he'll be so far behind in levels... I don't even want to think about it. Suffice it to say that he'll be staffbotting, but that's about it. Initially... he seems like crap. And he sort of is... but he's got his redeeming qualities. Base 13 Atk/4 AS are nothing to sneeze at. If he could sneeze. Because he's a blight of darkness and terror molded into the shape of a floating, tremendous human eyeball. We'll be trusting this guy to carry Eirika across a river at some point. God rest our zombie bones. EYEBALL and Eirika teamed up to chip this bugger. I -thought- he would head to a fort from here. However, after the next Enemy Phase... He had suicided on Eirika, and three Soldiers attacked my unarmed men. COME OUT AND FACE THE EYEBALL, YOU COWARDS. And now, the turtling begins. The doctor said something about four turns... but it won't last that long. Certainly not. It's just two turns. There's plenty of time before this is a problem. ...I don't know about holing up in a corner, but I'm certain that levels like this aren't healthy. Seth is carrying an EYEBALL TO SLOW HIM DOWN SO HE CAN NOT KILL AN ENEMY SO EIRIKA CAN NUKE HIM. THIS GAME MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE, AT ALL. Notably, first kill in a turn. God, this is going slow. Next turn: the chip I spoke of (read: 21/22 of the foe's HP) And the kill! Accidentally blicked that one screencap, but Eirika leveled again. HP and Skill. GOD DAMMIT ANNAAAAAAAAAAA Here, Franz is only subject to one blow, and Fort!Def-blessed!Eirika can shrug off anything thrown her way, given that something will go for Seth. This, my friends, is the definition of pain. Maybe it's the Goddess' way of punishing him for travelling with EYEBALL? I dunno. Soldier + Fighter does not KO Fort!Eirika. Not bad at all... ...would've been nice to dodge that, Eirika. Or, y'know, gain Speed. Because you can do both those things in vanilla. ...wait, the doctor said something about turtling? This has been... six, maybe seven turns... We've got a problem here. I can see the signs~ I guess the lady, is still ma-king, up her miiiind~ *cue chorus of Just Good Friends* ...what were we talkin' about? Can't really take this guy out otherwise. SETH, DO YOUR STUFF. AND YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO USE AXES, JUST SAYIN'. Okay, we're here. Seems familiar, really. ...here I was thinking the Frelian Cavalry were, y'know, useful. Because NORMALLY this map takes all of five turns... I could be mad... but honestly, I'm just glad to see her proc Speed. I'd like her to be able to double Revenants and Soldiers, even though she clearly won't be hitting 14-17 Atk for awhile yet. While Eirika cleans up, Gilliam gives Breguet... *shades* The evil eye. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah! Can it be? Is it finally over? It is! Now, to finish off the boss! ...I don't know who looks for wear. The guy with one HP, or the guy who's lost most of his bioma-- WAIT BRILLIANT REALIZATION. DEMON KING CREATES GIANT. PLUCKS OUT ONE EYE. MOGALL + CYCLOPS. SUCK ON THAT. ...I have spent far too many turns on this map. But, finally, it is finished. And FINALLY, a competent level from Eirika. About time. ...yeah, we need about four more of these before she can begin to be called "good". And in case you were wondering how her tome is holding up... The short answer is "not well". ...yeah, definitely took too long. I should definitely see a doctor about that lack of skill... I don't really know dondon, so he's out... but going to either Horace or Shin will have the other gunning for me. Y'know, accomplice-ing the enemy and such. ...welp, looks like I'm on my own. So, yeah, we get to Border Mulan, Tana greets our motley band, all that stuff. A couple of gems from that conversation, though: ...he lives to serve the Demon King. BECAUSE HE IS A FLOATING EYEBALL OF PAIN AND TORMENT. I THINK WE'VE GONE OVER THIS. ...so she isn't put off by Gilliam being a giant eyeball, but she can't recognize Eirika in a mage's vestments? So monsters are cool, and she can't recognize her best friend. ...I get why Grado didn't bother with full military dominance of Frelia. These people are fucked up. Well, that's all for today, ladies and gents! Tune in next time for Chapter Two: Save some Nameless Villages near Ide And rig Ross to survive, because I probably don't have anyone that can fly and rescue him

Let's hope Ross ends up as having 4 con. Can people cross class gender boundaries? I mean, can L'Arachel end up as a fighter or a male cavalier and Ross end up as a pegasus knight? Terrador
Sharpy: You know that this is RNs. I've no control over what classes people have. Tendaslime: Yes, he will. Speak of the devil, I should lay out my promotion policies: In this run, every promotion item is a Master Seal; that is, it can promote anyone but Eirika/Ephraim. Mind, I don't actually -consume- the item unless I can legitimately promote; rather, I hack in the promotion. For units that don't have promotion gains as such (Monsters, Soldiers, and Bandits), I whipped up a set of promotion gains I felt were appropriate. I just hack those straight onto the unit, and bing bang boom, they're promoted. spoiler alert: Gilliam gets Crimson Eye on promotion Momentai: People -can- cross gender boundaries; however, if a class has only one gender (ex. Pupil (2) or Pegasus Knight), that unit can still get the class. However, if the unit promotes to a class without gender locks (ex. Pegasus Knight!Garcia from my last run promoting to Wyvern Knight), I will promote them normally, then reclass them to their proper gender (and tweak their bases accordingly). Do note that the character -is- still their appropriate gender in the game's coding; ex. 6 Con!Troubador!Gilliam from my last run had 19 Aid. Furthermore, I only edit bases; and that, I do when I recruit the character, not when s/he spawns. This means that I must rig for Ross to survive at least a little while; it'll take at least two turns for Gilliam to drop Eirika in, if I even want to bother doing that (as opposed to rescuing him PP 1). Chapter 2 will be up tonight; probably Chapter 3 as well if my better half doesn't show up, or does so at a late hour. Also, spoilers on class rolls! [spoiler=CLASSES]Vanessa = Pupil (2) Moulder = Monk Ross = Recruit (2) Garcia = Thief Also, a reminder: Please give your opinions on anything and everything! Whom you want to see used? What promotion paths should units take? Any preferences to statboosters, the route split, things I should focus on for screencaps? Tell me all the opinions, ever! Doga
How are you going to deal with Eirika having no weapon uses until you can buy more Fire tomes in Chapter 5?
Terrador
Well, assuming I wouldn't get a tome... Tamanoir
Vanessa should have a Tome or 2, so she can always share with Eirika. I think that for Erika, Mage Knight is the best choice. Ross should be a Paladin, for the higher strengh cap. Just my thoughts
MacLovin
Can you spoiler the images
Momentai~
Oh, I just noticed that you already gave the answer to the altering growth question before I asked it. xP I see... As for suggestions... I want Eirika to promote to sage, S rank light magic, and take out Lyon with the S rank tome. Franz- I'm split between bishop and sage here. I really like the idea of him as a sage, but bishop seems more fitting. Vanessa-Pupil 2 only has sage and pupil 3 as promotion choices, right? I think she should go pupil 3. Moulder- lol. He has the same promotion choices as he would if he were in his normal class. Bishop definitely. Ross- Even though recruit 3 seems appealing, I gotta go with paladin. Garcia- No matter which path he chooses, that 20 strength cap is gonna kill him. I think he should go with rogue.
cyron
Terrador, if you'd like i could do up a patch in nightmare this weekend for you it would only take about an hour or two with the chapter class and character editor, and while i was at it i could make the rapier and reginlief the correct weapon types for eirika and ephriam, this is also most likely easier than editing it in with codebreaker Edited January 16, 2013 by Corellon Larethian
MacLovin
He used codebreaker, not Nightmare :/. And he's a very busy guy. Also, Franz the Bishie Bishop! DO EET. oh and MAGE KNIGHT EIRIKA.

Terrador
>Sharpy Yeah, I'll spoiler the updates from now on. No problem. >Corellion That's a kind offer, but I think I'll decline. Going at this run semi-blind will cause me to blunder more (thus making the game funnier), and I'd have to manually promote the monsters anyway unless you're pretty freakin' amazing at Nightmrae. But thank you anyway! >Scarface There is no patch. However, you can roll up a team and Nightmare/Codebreaker it, or ask someone else to do it for you. I'm against giving the spreadsheets for any given run; I want anyone who wants to try this to take the source rules I drafted up, tweak them as they see fit, then roll up their own team and have a blast. Sorry I didn't update last night, folks; Sam came on almost immediately and Gyazo was not cooperating with me. And thank you, all of you who have given your opinions. Terrador
Chapter Two: Saving Private Ryan Recruit (2)!Ross All righty! Time to begin Chapter 2... but Hayden has given us troops! Let's see what the big man has in store for us. This is... actually really passable. Better than Eirika in most everything. Am I using her? No. Eirika needs the tome, and if I leave her underleveled, y'all -will- make me suffer by babying her through her route. And THE BOULDER, a MONK of exceeding MANLINESS. So MANLY, in fact, that Seth might not be the only MANLY unit in this run anymore! En route... WARRIORS CONFIRMED FOR GOOD AT MAPS MOULDER CONFIRMED FOR ACTUALLY GIVING FUCKS *giggle* But apparently not counting. There are four villages on this map. And we begin! ...have I mentioned that Vanessa is completely unarmed? Because she is. No chance of combat this phase, sadly. Eirika is commissioned by General Selena even though our Lord is completely incompetent, then gets Rescued by Vanessa... AND KIDNAPPED BY EYEBALL AAAAAAAA. NOT RIGGED 10/10 Father and Son team down to eliminate this Bandit... at least, while they're still in their original classes. NOT FOR LONG, WOOT WOOT! Release her, Gilliam! You're not going to rape her in the mountains, or the forest, or the ruins of Ide! If it's even possible for eyeballs to do that! >Nerves/tentacles...? SHUT DA HELL UP! MOULDER can 2RKO this Bandit. Baller at base 10/10. Aaaaand going into Enemy Phase, Franz and Seth get closer to the fray. I... should have seen this coming. I really should have. At least we won. Woohoo, more EXP for Franz the Bishie Bishop! When NPCs get cocky: Part 1. No wonder he lost Ide. Oh, derp, he doubles. So he -can- be useful! And that's it for this post! Tune in in about a minute for the thrilling conclusion!
Terrador
...he's three tiles away, fighting a lone archer. Even Eirika knows there's no reason to panic. Now, let's see what this Aideen Idean is capable of! ... I laughed aloud when I saw this. Please note that Bone, the strongest enemy on the map, does four damage to him, terrain aside. Four. Ross is best Amelia, no doubt. Better than you ever could* Fixed that for you, He-Man. You know, old man... you're not half-bad. I think I'll use you, even though you're less MAN-SIZED than MOULDER and GERIK. Our new Thief defends a village. I'd comment on the irony of this... but EYEBALL is just too nonsensical for anything to be held to ordinary standards anymore, ever That's right, Gilliam. You broke my perception of reality. Good fuckin' job. Artur retreated to be healed, and... Franz got a surprisingly manly level out of the deal. Rock on, bishie Priest! Crossing my fingers and hoping that this is just a chip. ...yes, this is a crit. On the second blow, to boot. May I just say: ow. Four of them against eight of us... one of us is Seth, another is Ross, and a third will dodge everything ever thrown at him. I think we can call this a done deal. ...tell me, how does an eyeball survive taking an axe from an immensely strong man jumping eight feet into the air? I -guess- the eyelids might be tough as fuck... fact remains, Gilliam STILL MAKES NO SENSE. Go, manry Recruit! Build rank and laugh off the opposition! ...this is going to end well. I know it. Called it. CHIP, TAKE TWO. LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN! ...wow, that worked. Go figure. >And my Mathamancy bracer puts success odds at... 44.775552%. You and your luck-based strategery. Shut up, Hamstard! I'm willing to accept that the shopkeeper isn't freaked out by a floating eyeball of malice and doom. Although... this made me realize something. Their eyes are so bloodshot because they carry coins in their eyelids. That must HURT! ...I'm not even gonna question this. Nobody else has a backpack or appears to be a walking armory. Everyone has Hammerspace, and I'm just going to let this slide. >Not a half-bad dodge. Chance of counter-kill: 83.59-- NEVER TELL ME THE ODDS! >...but this is you calculating them. EXACTLY. I LIKE TO FIND THEM MYSELF, AND -NOT- TALK TO MYSELF ABOUT THE RESULTS HDKPJFAOISV;BKSHPSAIDOFUASG INSIDE VOICES NOT SHUTTING UP!! Mission success! Only two opponents left. Not sure if I'll be able to save the Pure Water village, though... I very much like this. Go, Garcia; be a manly man with your 11 AS! >Odds: Twen-- BE SILENT, CURIOSITY YOU TOO, HAMSTARD FOR FUCK'S SAKE. AI experiment: Will Bone go for the defenseless (and 2HKOed) Priest, or will he pillage a village? Let's find out. Sadly predictable. Franz dodges, somehow. >Odds that his Speed proc resulted in this dodge: roughly 13.43% I TOLD YOU NOT TO TELL--... Come to think... if this is right, it's really fuckin' cool. ...why haven't I questioned that EYEBALL can talk yet? Maybe he uses telepathy or some shit... Eyeballs are freaky. If I use it on him, he'll do a Wicked Witch. I'm sure of it. But... he's useful to me. I'll let him live for now. MANCHIP! Are you really surprised that I fed her the kill? With my dying breath, I shall channel Hector... Stahp ripping off other LPers, me! That's not very courteous! >And shameless webcomic references aren't...? SHADDAP!! ...I am honestly OK with this. Not bad, Eirika... not bad. Yeah. About ten minutes ago, remember? Killed two bandits and brought Bone to his knees? That guy? And then he became a dirty Thief, clearly. Which is, coincidentally, completely unrelated to his actual occupation: woodcutter. Yeah. When you reclassed, remember? Do you remember that? >6 Con >Fighter Yeah, Garcia is suspicious too. Why? He 6RKOs you. And you have access to Javelins, 3HKOing with Slim and 2HKOing with any other lance we have access to. You can eat his lunch, any day of the week. >implying that he wouldn't know Um... come again? He strikes me as more of the dashing Rogue type. Speak of the devil... are you -sure- someone with such MANLY stats is your progeny? I mean, it could've just as easily been some other chick. You know you can't keep track. Damn skippy. And you'd better not forget it, old man. Seth exists, but he is no mere man. Not counting him, obviously. Arrows bounce off his manly abs. Yes, he is still a man. The game's coding says so. You know, since the rain started falling, thins have become rather wet around here. "Stolen" implies that there was anything to gain. Yeah, pillaged treasuries... but, frankly, that's the present. Biggest deadweight loss I've ever seen on a tax, which I suppose you could technically refer to a government pillaging as. Economics is weird. ...I cannot read this flashback with a straight face. I simply cannot, Shitty Magic Princess. *grope* Damn... so many people who want into Eirika's pants. Seth, Valter, now this douchebag... who's next? Riiiiiiiiiight. And, with Seth trying to use the shoulder-to-cry-on tactic to have nasty, partially-consensual sex with Eirika, the chapter ends.
