Belka's hair is fairly short and can only make a small bun, but elfie's hair is kinda long and there's bits and pieces hanging from it in the bun. I would imagine that is due to it being a WIP, I don't know the artist's work pattern. Even here the blade is bent/curved somewhat to exaggerate motion.
