It was never meant to be anything beyond an AC-nod regarding ships and aircraft with anti-ship weaponry (the LASM's, which is it's only sub-weapon in AC5 for the C variant, making that one an anti-ship in that game). Why else you think I mentioned the kraken just after? It's also a terror for ships, since it was big enough to swallow ships whole and all that.
