What's your game of the year so far?

So we're halfway through the year, and so far it's been quite a good year for gaming, especially for the 3ds, so I was wondering what's the GOTY of serenes forest's members so far. Also post the upcoming titles that might become it and if your GOTY is FE:A, the runner up.

So my GOTY is FE:A, which I loved and have replayed over 20 times! The runner up is The Last of Us, which is quite surprising for me, since I generally dislike AAA western games, but that game is just awesome, like a modern RE4.

I don't think any upcoming game will be able to dethrone Awakening, but pokemon X/Y have a shot, it looks great.

XCOM was last year, right?

I honestly don't know what 2013 games I've bought besides FE13 and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate, and idk which of those I'd give a title to.

So far the only game I got made this year is FE:A.

However Hotline Miami 2 is coming later this year and I loved the first one so much it was my GOTY last year. I don't think I'll get my hands on GTA 5 until Christmas and that's if I can run it.

So far its FE: Awakening, though Ni No Kuni is coming very, very close (I haven't fully beaten it yet...)

As for games yet to come out, I am highly anticipating Pokemon X/Y, and of course Tales of Xillia if my sig is anything to go by. Less than a month left! :D

Best game I've played that released this year: Pandora's Tower

Best game I've played this year: Sin and Punishment: Star Successor

Since I haven't played any of my other anticipated releases yet since they come later, I gotta say Fire Emblem: Awakening.

So far, I'm probably gonna have to say Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.
Although, I'm loving Ni No Kuni(STILL haven't finished it >_>), Animal Crossing, Pandora's Tower, and, obviously, Fire Emblem.

Haven't played Project X Zone, so, not sure on that one.

Plus, with Time and Eternity coming out in like a week, Rune Factory 4 coming out soon(?), Tales of Xilla next month, Shin Megami Tensei IV in a week too(I think, won't be getting it a launch unfortunately), I might have a new favorite. (I wish I could try Killer Is Dead, too... T_T)

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team when it comes out.

I'm really anticipating this game as well, I love the Mario & Luigi series. I hope it's as great as the first one, which is my favorite gba game.

Bro, the first Mario and Luigi game is my favorite handheld game of all time. This one will be pretty rad.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

The decision wasn't easy, especially since both Fire Emblem: Awakening and The Last of Us were both amazing games, and seriously, this has been an awesome year for gamers. However, something about Ni no Kuni and its traditionalist approach to JRPG's, and essentially proving that there was nothing really wrong with the JRPG formula in the first place, and that a game can be successful even if it follows all JRPG tropes to the letter, really, really makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. And even if I'm not on my journey to defeat the Dark Djinn, there's still so much to do in the game: finish sidequests, play at the casino, train and catch familiars, or just lose myself in the beautiful Ghibli-inspired world.

Runner-ups: Fire Emblem: Awakening; The Last of Us

Gonna pick a dark horse candidate and pick an indie: Rogue Legacy.

Self-described as a "rogue-'lite'", it takes the mechanic of having infinite lives to an interesting extent where every time you die, your descendant takes up your quest. The roguelike portion kicks in in that you can pick your descendant from three randomly generated choices - each with different classes and attributes - and randomizing the dungeons on each life (unless you pay to lock the previous dungeon's layout before you go in with the descendant). One of the choices might be a Barbarian King with the ability to throw Daggars as his spell that happens to be a Dwarf and have Alzheimer's disease, both of which affect how he progresses through the dungeons. (Dwarf is smaller and can fit through small secret passages, while Alzheimer's causes the pop-up map to be blank - you still have a mini-map though.)

There's an upgrade tree, the ability to purchase equipment upgrades and the ability to imbue the gear with runes that you've found, making how you play through entirely dependent on your playstyle (and how much money you have).

The demo's freely available from the site linked above, and it's quite addictive. The full game's available on Steam and it's significantly larger in scope (more traits, more droppable schematics, etc.).

When Bioshock Infinite was released i thought it'd definitely be my GOTY. And then Last of Us came out. Shortly after i declared that Last of Us was going to be my GOTY, I got my hands on Awakening. The end of this gaming gen is really going out with a bang.

err......Fire Emblem Awakening?

Yeah, my collection of game this year is quite bleak. Ni No Kuni is fun but the story and lack of character really hampered to love the game. And from what I heard I doubt it that both Bioshock Infinte would be my GotY. TLoU, although I do have PS3, I'm not really interested playing another zombie game. I'm still waiting my GotY on SMT IV, EO IV, or Pokemon XY.
