Slapping a palm to his head, he went back inside. "Okay, I'm an idiot. I'm waiting here for her." Stopping as he passed Dan, he slugged him in the arm. Unless, of course, you meant to imply that all people who have suffered brain damage are mentally retarded… the tests are to ensure that nothing in his brain pathways were damaged by the shard.
