Myke
B- these other guys all sound hella informative but if you want my opinion (and you do) it is to write everything you feel like writing all the time ever B- sometimes you will write cool stuff and sometimes you will write lame stuff but you can rewrite the lame stuff so it is cool and then everything is fine A- writing is great do it
Rewjeo
stopped here ugh ugh ugh people need to shut the fuck up about muses already It was an assignment. And also the most recent thing I distinctly remember reading that invoked a Muse was from Ancient Greece, so, uh, I don't really know what you're referring to with people needing to shut up about muses. The point of a prose poem is that you format it like prose, but that it's poetic. I think. Edited October 22, 2013 by Rewjeo
Percivalé
prose poetry is difficult as fuck to write but yeah that's the gist of it

William Butler Yeats also talked a lot...in one of his poetry collections that was themed after the Iliad or something like that (I dunno it's been a few months...) Thor Odinson
I challenge you to do it in iambic pentameter Or Dactylic Hexameter and write it in Latin A dude named Vergil wrote a whole Iliad/Odyssey fanfiction in Dactylic Hexameter It's called the Aeneid It's pretty popular too So taking the best from Shakespeare and Vergil, you should write a fanfiction about hot guys Edited October 23, 2013 by Ezio Auditore da Firenze

Percivalé
unrelated to the thread but on the subject of poetry, would it be all right if I posted some of my recent stuff in the writing section? normally I'd just do it but I never see anyone post poetry there

General Banzai
Past hoary heathers and sun ydrencht dale, Beyond mounts majestic and forests fair, Rests city deep in sleep of weary care. But I, awake, upon a sidewalk wail, For in grey boat doth my beloved sail: Both boat and boater of device built rare. On her blesséd brow now no worries wear; As she is bound for heav’n’s fair-weathered trail. Yet though I weep great and my heart weighs hard, I dry my eyes through hope of God’s great plan Wherewith we all must meet our end some day. For He hath took her soul with hand unmarred Into a land beyond the works of Man Unmaking what was made of moulded clay.

Original Alear
i wrote a perfect petrarchan sonnet once A bold and impetuous general Screaming loud and clear the cry of "Banzaii!" Once reported that his words did comply Made to our masses a claim tangential: A sonnet true to Petrarch's way composed, Yet to be found in his humble demesne, Yet holding back his pride he did arraign That poem and held it back from being exposed. Oh Banzaii!: let us not read of that thing More pure its worth but raises my disdain! My say to quality is strong ingrained: I am but talentless and not equipped To bear in my mind competency's sting. Well we know: in the muse's arts you've dipped. EDIT-Oh shit he already posted it.
