ZemZem
Vykan posted the video on his channel, and I wanted to share it with the rest of you: The speedrunner is Braster, and he's a freaking beast. Only the Prologue up to Chapter 10 are done, and I can't wait to see more. All I can say is...holy shit, Mia.

ZemZem
At the end of the video during Chapter 10, I'm surprised he had Volke open Nephenee's cell. Perhaps she'll have some use in the future? Damn cliffhangers.
Espinosa
Yeah, quite interested in Nepenthe's application too. I think there might be more to it than Wrath helping KO enemies in a smaller number of hits or perhaps it's precisely that.

Espinosa
I'm just surprised to see foot units play quite the key role in this TAS. Well, it's hardly always the case that mounted units get to skip a lot of enemy phase action (which takes a LONG time in this game) and a lot of enemies will need to be killed, and in a TAS you want it to happen really fast. Crits are low% and it's hard to rig a lot of them through fast path RNG manipulation due to the number of enemies who need to be killed that way. Meanwhile, Mia has Vantage and innate crit, while Nepenthe has Wrath, accessible physical 1-2 range (several in fact) and could always take a Vantage scroll to do some of the same things Mia does except better. I'm sure Marcia will be BEXP dump'd eventually though; perhaps not if she's just critting the Ravens with the Killer Lance. BEXP dumping itself takes a lot of real time. Vykan_12
I translated the comments in his last video and it mentioned raising Marcia in the next WIP. I also tried contacting Baxter through twitter by google translating my messages into japanese, but he seems to have trouble understanding what I'm saying. If anyone's fluent in japanese that would be a great help.

Vykan_12
New WIP released today. I need someone to write "Why are you raising Nephenee?" in Japanese.
LunaSaint
Gimme a minute, just checking Neph's JP name. なぜネフェニーを使っていますか? Why are you using Nephenee? なぜネフェニーにEXPを与えていますか? Why are you giving Nephenee EXP? Not hugely familiar with how gaming terms are handled, but should work. PKL
It might be just to have a target with which to crit everything in Chapter 25, idk. Wouldn't a sage be preferable for that?
Junkhead
inb4 'Cuz she's my waifu' I use Nephenee because I always wanted a mono lance-based foot unit, that's also rather quick, doesn't ocassionally suffer from the drags of WTD and lower Mt and with the boons of 2-range. Also, Wrath. Edited December 3, 2013 by café
Vykan_12
Her wrath doesn't matter much because a forged slim lance will have 100% crit, although you're limited to 1 per chapter at most. If he wants another combat unit for a rout map, why not train a cavalier or better yet, use a pre-promote like Calill or Largo?
ZemZem
Excellently done. He made those ravens look like chumps. But yeah, Nephenee's use still intrigues me. Or maybe he's just using her because waifu. :P
Vykan_12
His answer: 怒りのスキルが強いからです 日本語ですいません Google translate: I'm sorry in Japanese skill of anger is because strong I think he means he's using her because of wrath?

LunaSaint
"Because the Wrath skill is strong. Excuse the Japanese." Yeah, pretty much.
PKL
I knew it. Wrath 1-2 range for C25 of course. I still think a haxed thunder forge Soren or Calill would be better for it. But perhaps those are too hard to train without losing seconds/frames or something? Edited December 4, 2013 by PKL

I'd imagine that tomes have longer animations (even though there's no ACTUAL animation, but the small map ones, I mean).
Hawk King
^ this and i believe paladins fighting animations are longer than foot units. even if its only a few frames per attack the point is to have it be as fast as possible. Vykan_12
But then he's losing time having to BEXP Nephenee, as well as her fighting C11 enemies that could otherwise be spared. Then it takes time to actually set up wrath if Neph gets too durable (notice +2 def in 3 levels), and seeing wrath activate on each attack eats up time as well. If he's training Neph just for C25, I guarantee he's better off using someone like Calill/Tauroneo/Largo since he's going to have to train Neph even further just for her to get her stats on par with those units' bases. Where else would a low movement attacker come in useful in a TAS? C18 reinforcements?
dondon151
not to demean that TASer's achievements or anything, but one thing that I observed is that a lot of japanese TASers or speedrunners tend to eschew the optimal route for a perceived personal preference. That said, this guy is nowhere near that level, and tbh, he only BXP'd Neph one level's worth, I think, and it might not be that bad, in the long run. Not sure if optimal, but hell, I'm not gonna fight him for TAS of anything, so have your fun, runner, wherever you are.
