Espinosa
Thought it would be insightful to start a topic on Japanese music to share some good artists and songs around. Yukari's album 'Echo' makes me feel happy when I listen to it. Really good stuff.

LuxSpes
Does japanese songs from anime/video games count? If not, I don't really know any japanese artist. The only thing I can think of right now is a Vocaloid song.

Espinosa
Oh whoopsie dicks Yukari is actually Korean! I'm a big fan of Kazuki Tomokawa, an acid-folk artist with one hell of an expression. Got all of his albums I believe; mesmerising stuff. His songs are the one thing that occasionally makes me wish I had learnt Japanese in the years where I had more free time.

Blue Druid
Most popular music from japan annoys me personally. Though I do like some metal bands like Church of Misery and Coffins http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYHb42yTIqo (Church Of Misery) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYRnx2LsF48 (Coffins)
Shin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JiTiesmBws I have a real soft spot for L'Arc~en~ciel. It amazes me that they've been going for about 20 years now. I'm also a fan of Versailles and X Japan.

Elieson
Sakanaction is beyond great. Another gem I've found is FPM (Fantastic Plastic Machine). More quirky than anything else.
Espinosa
Mika Nakashima is definitely one of my favourite female Japanese singers, very unique jazz/pop vocalist. All of her stuff is great but this one song always stood out for me: "Women who are crazy in love are beautiful" Sadly you can't listen to full songs of her on YouTube, but a full (7-minute long video) version can be found here. edza90
I like Gackt because he is an awesome crossdresser and was inspiration for Squall Leonhart of Final Fantasy VIII and other videogames\anime characters.

CrimsonRaven
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlvfpSlrb-Y surprised no one posted uverworld yet, this is one of my favorites but because of copyright on so many of their videos you'll have to settle for the live version, just skip to 1:
MercyWalk
Not necessarily fully Japanese but the original song is remixed with Joe Hisaishi's Ever Love
