Nobody
I mean: it's obvious that the game doesn't just pick a completely random value 0-20. So how does the game decide on which character gets how much base luck? just pretend it's a normal distribution with 10 (or whatever the most common value is) being the average. Robert Stewart
If I cared about Fe1 and i knew a good NES debugger I might help but I don't, so eh
Robert Stewart
so hatt, once you recruit a character their luck stat is fixed at that point?
Julius Nepos
One of these days I'll play FE1 again and have a thorough investigation. Like, it may even differ from character to character. Because it would be kind of weird if chapter 2 Darros and chapter 20 Lorenz had the exact same chance of getting low or high base luck. so hatt, once you recruit a character their luck stat is fixed at that point? All enemies have 0 luck, including recruitable characters. So when you recruit an enemy character, their luck changes from 0 to a certain value, which varies (this is the phenomenon known as - luck). So yes, once they're recruited their luck is fixed. I'm also wondering when the game decides on the value of such a character's base luck. Does it pick the value when you recruit the character? Or does it pick the value at the beginning of the chapter? Edited May 26, 2015 by Hattusili I

Nobody
Interestingly, Javelins and similar ranged weapons (such as Hand Axes, most likely, and not naturally ranged weapons like Tomes or Hidden Weapons) can no longer double attack. WAIT WHAT Edited May 26, 2015 by Nobody

Robert Stewart
First an FE2 mechanic returns, now an FE3 mechanic. so...and FE4 mechanic is next? inb4 Pursuit
Julius Nepos
okay so if you're doing averages just say like (base luck) + calculated average if that makes sense So, say I'm calculating Roger's luck (80% growth) at level 10 (base level 5, base luck -). So I should say his luck is: base + 0,80 × 5 = base + 4? That makes sense. So far I've taken 6 as base luck for characters with - luck, since all I know is "it seems to be rougly 0-12." so...and FE4 mechanic is next? inb4 Pursuit Maybe they'll skip FE4. They skipped FE1 too. We have yet to determine the formula IS is using here.

Julius Nepos
Yeah. But then you should make sure to note that characters with - luck have a base that may vary. Already done that, my friend. Why are they trying to make everything so complicated in FE:If, seriously. FE doesn't need to have 'deep' mechanics to be good, just good ones. They're trying to make everything complicated? I didn't know that. This may be either because I don't consider it complicated or because I'm just not following it enough.
