I'm really big on melody and I tend to prefer calm songs, so metal that are often tracks big on technical play and fast and furious beats really doesn't gel with me. Doesn't help that singers sometime song like they had their throat passed through a cheese grater and that the recurring themes in most metal bands are pretty dark. I like some more symphonic metal, but it's still not my favorite type of music to listen to. I pretty much listen to everything else except hip hop, rap and country.
