I think we're mostly the same as we ever were

Prejudice/Discrimination seems to be dissipating so that's a plus I guess

That's actually mostly unchanged.

They're getting better at making conveniences and excuses, if anything.

EDIT: Too many posts ahead of mine.

We advance in some areas... and go back in others...

That's what I was thinking too.

It's like some unavoidable curse: one step forward, two steps back. It never fails.

Technology is either making humans more stupid or it's making human stupidity more apparent

Probably the latter. It's one of the absolutes Einstein spoke about, after all.

Advance my ass. Maybe in other countries, but we are totally not fucking advancing in the US.

Maybe not advance in a good sense... or so.

Advancing doesn't exclusively mean it's in the right direction, or even a good direction.

This. We're advancing, but not in the right direction...

Edit: Basically what Sol said.

humanity: are we advancing

it really is

everyone who thinks otherwise is blinded by nostalgia or believes a fake, idealized version of the past

living standards have increased through all of the world, people are more tolerant, poor countries aren't as poor as they were, etc

I mean, there's not even an argument in 80% of the world, but even if you're from a privileged rich country that was already rich 50 years ago (which almost all of you are), even then, income levels, life expectancy and level of education have increased all over the board. People live more, better and can afford more stuff
