You don't get too much chances to attack in the first phase so you have to know when you're allowed to attack, basically. His thrust with his left hand sword (the purple one) is a good opportunity to attack him on his recoil, for example I can't even dodge when I'm not trying to attack, though also this is my wallpaper on my computer does that trigger you nobody.
