Unless thats cause back pedaling primarily works the calves as opposed to sprinting, which uses that, alobg with quads and the rest of your leg muscles? A backpedal may be as fast as you can go, but it's less force because the stride is smaller. It's not about which muscles, but rather, how much force you apply to those muscles.
