Interest Posted January 22, 2015 Share Posted January 22, 2015 (edited) True, DOTA2 is just the original DotA given a new coat of paint after hiring the guy responsible for the game (not even the guy who created the mode). Though Valve kinda publicized the game to become a prominent force in the esport world. Dat 10.9M prizepool. To be fair DotA had a pretty huge crowd to begin with. League of Legends was founded under one of the DotA devs and I imagine some players with DotA experience gravitated there. Though yes, the name of Valve definitely helps a lot. Having that much financial punch and reputation pretty much gave DotA a fitting mansion as opposed to the home I mentioned earlier. Also AoS was made a long time ago, so I can imagine it could be a little hard to find the person who made that.
