Baldrick
Woo supports. Too bad Lyn is at level 20 so you won't be using her for a while (or at all? Heaven Seals are worth quite a bit)
Florete
She's still forced on a map or two and yes, I will be promoting her. A Heaven Seal is only worth two regular promotion items, so it's not a big deal, but I will probably not be promoting Hector.
Florete
Let's just drop these all in, shall we? Chapter 20 Turns: 7 Deployed: Eliwood, Priscilla, Serra, Matthew, Erk, Wil, Florina, Fiora, Ninian. This map is really awkward and annoying as a result of wanting/needing to do all of the following: -Kill enemies, of course. -Visit all 4 villages. -Do all necessary shopping (three shops for me). -Spam Torch as much as possible. All with 8 units + Ninian (Thank God for her). Thus, I opted for a quick clear rather than dragging it out any longer than necessary. Erk stayed west to deal with the Monks, eventually running up to help Merlinus. Florina was my shopper, and took a break in the middle to help clear some guys. Eliwood was the front liner (sounds odd, but he's pretty defensive) and Matthew and Wil backed him up. Priscilla spammed Torch as much as she could and Serra did the healing. I managed to visit all villages (west two with Erk, North east with Fiora and south east with Priscilla), do my shopping, steal the Hero Crest, and even get a round in the arena for Fiora. All things considered, a successful map. Tactics - 121/346 (15 turn surplus) Experience - 13,215/41,300 (165 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone is alive. Combat - is good. Funds - I have money. Level Gained Eliwood 14.76 13.76 Marcus 24.01 3.01 Lowen 6.10 4.10 Rebecca 10.31 9.31 Bartre 7.06 5.06 Dorcas 9.53 4.64 Hector 14.42 13.42 Oswin 12.95 3.95 Matthew 15.25 11.63 Serra 10.98 7.45 Guy 8.26 5.26 Erk 9.03 5.48 Priscilla 10.03 7.03 Lyn 20.00 6.43 Sain 12.62 3.00 Kent 7.10 2.49 Wil 8.91 5.05 Florina 13.63 6.06 Raven 10.45 5.45 Lucius 9.09 4.26 Canas 9.71 1.71 Dart 8.49 0.49 Fiora 8.87 1.87 Legault 12.43 0.43 Ninian 3.74 0.81 Chapter 21 Turns: 11 Deployed: Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, Serra, Priscilla, Lowen, Florina, Raven, Lucius, Legault, Ninian + Isadora, Heath, Rath This one is a bit mean. When given a defend map, they do tend to throw more enemies at you. Of course, since this is a ranked run, I had to take them all for what they were worth. Since this is Eliwood Hard, Eubans moves and is in the center at the bottom. To make the most of matters, I split my team into two sides: Eliwood, Hector, Priscilla, Ninian, Legault, Lowen, and Heath to the left, Lyn, Florina, Isadora, Serra, Lucius, Raven, and Rath to the right. I unlocked the doors on the first turn so that I could recruit Heath quickly and prevent enemies from breaking down the wall. Luckily, I could target the ballistas from out of Eubans' range, so I made them a priority. On the left, the enemy Thief did manage to swipe the Brave Axe before I could get to him, but I stopped him from getting the gold and killed him for the axe. I also had Lowen visit the Secret Shop and Priscilla grabbed a Physic and Barrier right away. Once I took control of the map, so to speak, I did my best to funnel extra kills into Lowen, Heath, Rath, and Raven. By turn 10 the enemies were all gone and I drew in Eubans with Hector, then double teamed him with Hector and Eliwood for a kill. I have also now hit the 50 level requirement for Linus' FFO. Nope, not above such things. The mine trick on turn 1 really helped, though, because I was having a hard time being efficient and staying alive. Heath started by getting the Ocean Seal immediately. Eliwood went down with him to recruit Hawkeye. Florina, Hector, and Erk were handling enemies up north with Legault stealing stuff and backing them up. Erk and Florina were the ones who moved forward to continue killing enemies while Hector and Legault wailed on Paul and Jasmine. Got all the items except Filla's Might. Can't let that get by me. And I still came out under the turn requirement for the map. Raven, Heath, Dart, and Priscilla took left, others took right. Hawkeye mostly took to the front and weakening on his side so the other two could get kills, but he did end up killing all the guys around Kishuna because it was too risky to try otherwise. Heath, Dart, and Raven constantly teamed up on enemies with Priscilla healing as much as she could. I had to take a few necessary risks against Luna Druids, but luckily there was one I was able to lure into the magic seal (the one furthest southwest) after opening his door. Heath also went to the right to get the last Druid. Dart made good use of his Hammer against Generals, and both Dart and Heath got some good level ups. I can definitely see Heath becoming a party mainstay. Too bad Dart's promotion is too costly. Got the Secret Book and Berserk. Florete
Mine trick eh...? To each their own, I suppose. I don't remember what the desert is like on EHM though honestlyAs long as it's in the game proper. Not that I feel the need to justify my methods, but arena abuse is really in the same boat and that's almost necessary, so I don't mind skewing a few things to my advantage.Chapter 23 Turns: 34 Deployed: Eliwood, Priscilla, Serra, Bartre, Kent, Florina, Raven, Canas, Dart, Legault, Ninian, Heath + Geitz You all know why I took so long on this one: arena abuse to the max. Without that, I estimate this would have been about 14-15 turns instead. Raven, Kent, Canas, and Serra went straight right, some Barrier boosting helping to alleviate the magic damage, especially from Bolting. After getting rid of the mages they fended off the Wyvern reinforcements, Raven taking the point with the others backing him up. After none were left, they went to join in on the arena action. The rest went north. Bartre (with Swordreaver) and Geitz took the front line most of the time with Eliwood helping out occasionally and Florina and Heath helping from behind. Heath also took out the ballista quickly. Legault did most of the shopping and village visiting. I started on the arena at about turn 10 and throughout the course of the next 25 turns made as much use of it as reasonable, taking full advantage of Ninis's Grace and the rescue trick. Bartre, Raven, and Geitz got the most arena time. Got the villages and stole the Red Gem. Tactics - 198/346 (5 turn surplus) Experience - 22,427/41,300 (3,927 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone is alive. Combat - is good. Funds - I have money. Not too much force and no way to make it faster. I also got my first two promotions, Lyn and Serra. Lyn was ready, of course, and Serra got it mid-map. Priscilla hit 20 on the last turn, as well. Also got A Hector/Eliwood and Lyn/Florina. The Lords stayed where they started and went to the right after the Wyverns from the left went down. Sain and Rath quickly finished up the Wyverns and Brigands in the midwest area before Sain went to join the Lords and Rath went back to help in the south. Fiora took out Brigands with an Axereaver. Raven, Heath, Matthew, and Rebecca came in from the right, and Heath eventually flew over to the top to help with those reinforcements. Raven and Rebecca stayed behind for Wyvern reinforcements while Matthew got the Hammerne. Also stole the Knight Crest. No Uber Spear, though, because I'd rather save mines for places where they can directly help my rank progress. Florete
S Ranking Hector Hard Mode is so easy after you've don't the SSS Rank Thracia 776 runI didn't care enough to beat Thracia 776 even once so I don't think I'll ever get there. And this isn't HHM.Chapter 25 Turns: 13 Deployed: Eliwood, Serra, Priscilla, Lyn, Florina, Heath, Raven, Ninian, Dorcas, Wil, Canas, Legault + Harken Florina took the first group of Mages from over the wall, leaving the last one alive for Wil to pick off and Raven got the Sage with the Wing. Canas, Serra, Heath, and Dorcas headed to the right. Canas was there particularly to tank Mages, which he did well, and Dorcas stole plenty of kills. Raven stayed behind to pick off Wyvern reinforcements while everyone else moved forward. For the first few turns, Florina drew in some Wyverns and Wil killed them. Eventually, I left Priscilla on a forest tile to blow through about 5 in one enemy phase since she can and she still gets good experience. Then I advanced cautiously, healing where necessary and picking off reinforcements until Harken came. Then I ferried Eliwood to the throne and it was ready for him since Florina and Lyn duo-teamed Kenneth. Got all the chests. Wil tanked the Bishop Purge guy, getting healed every turn, and Legault tanked Kenneth's Purge, dodging enough so that Priscilla could heal elsewhere. Dorcas ended up getting a lucky crit on the Bishop and Harken killed that annoying Nosferatu/Eclipse Druid. There are a lot of enemies in this defend map, and some pretty strong ones at that. Serra, Heath, Ninian, Raven, and Guy went left. The Silver Sword Hero at the beginning was the biggest thing for them, but with a combined effort, they managed to take him down. Then they scurried on down to back Jaffar up. I got the Boots, but Jaffar ended up killing the Thief with the Brave Lance. Guy stayed behind to take out Shaman reinforcements. Eliwood, Lyn, Priscilla, Matthew, and Lowen (and Merlinus) went right. After some weakening, Lowen got the two Fighter kills, then Priscilla paved a path after Matthew opened the door. There's not much else on the way to Nino and then Zephiel, but the Thieves come really fast and were out the door with my loot before Priscilla could even get there. To add to that, we had some missing fits - Priscilla missed with a 95, then Nino misses two or three times with mid 70s. Still, I did manage to kill both of them for the Delphi Shield and Rescue staff. Then Lyn and Priscilla teamed up to defend Zephiel, and just in time; a turn later and a Hero would have made it to Zephiel, killing him without question. But we stopped it. Then it was time to meet up with the other side and take down Ursula and Maxime. Raven, having promoted mid-map, got a Ninis's Grace boost and drew Maxime and some others out, then backed up so Heath and Serra (and Jaffar) could help take them out. After that it was only Mages and Ursula, so Lyn and Priscilla moved in with Merlinus playing the decoy and eventually Lyn left Ursula at 2 HP and Heath finished her off. Then I ran Matthew in, stole the Earth Seal from the Luna Druid, killed the Druid with Lyn (who faced 0 crit, so no risk), killed off the remaining Mages, talked to Jaffar with Nino, and cleared the map. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied. Tactics - 239/346 (8 turn surplus) Experience - 28,626/41,300 (5,276 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone is alive. Combat - is good. Funds - I have money. It makes it easier to feed kills to weak units. Funny thing is, after a few levels, Dorcas and Nino were able to kill multiple enemies on their own. This game's enemies are just that weak. There's not much to say here because there's not a whole lot to do other than follow the course you're given while taking on reinforcements. Florina and Heath started on the southern mages, Heath leveling to 20 on the Sage and then promoting. Raven took the point on the first round of reinforcements, his low Str being a blessing and a curse at times. As more ledges appeared I was able to move on and steal both the Blue Gem and Angelic Robe while keeping everyone alive and restoring Berserk conditions. People laregely just went they were needed after that, the fliers jumping around the most, and Nino and Dorcas holding their own when needed. When all the reinforcements stopped appearing, I sent the fliers and Matthew up to clear the remaining enemies and open the chests. The rest of the team whittled Sonia down and when Matthew opened the last chest we finished her off and Eliwood siezed. As stated, all treasures acquired. Surprisingly, I also went about 300 experience over the requirement for the map, despite almost not coming here because of the steep requirement and even feeling like I had come short by the end. Florete
Chapter 27 Turns: 18 Deployed: Eliwood, Lyn, Priscilla, Serra, Rebecca, Florina, Raven, Legault, Ninian, Nino + Vaida Holy hordes of enemies. Once or twice the reinforcements couldn't all spawn because they hit the 50 enemy cap. Not wanting to divide my limited units into three teams, I took the left and middle areas, and enemies that spawned at the right just came down the middle. In the middle there was Lyn, Florina, Serra, Nino, and Ninian. Florina was able to advance fast enough to hold a chokepoint, but wouldn't have managed it for long, so Lyn took over quickly and slashed at enemies with the others shooting over her shoulder. Eventually I gave Serra a Ninis's Grace boost and had her slaughter a bunch of the remaining enemies so we could get by. Her tome ran out that enemy phase. Nino got a lot of kills in. Raven, Priscilla, Rebecca, and Merlinus went left. I mention Merlinus because he was actually quite helpful. He distracted the ballistas and some enemies at very opportune times, doing a lot to help me feed kills to Rebecca and keep Raven and Priscilla alive. When the enemies were cleared, Priscilla got the Warp staff and did some shopping, then my teams combined as we passed the reinforcement trigger. The Snipers came, Raven weakened two for Nino and Rebecca, Legault stole the Orion's Bolt, and they advanced to Lloyd. Meanwhile, Eliwood was recruiting Vaida and Florina had flown back to give Vaida a Steel Lance, which she used to slaughter most of the Wyvern reinforcements. Priscilla at the left with all the magic and the Bolting. She was fine, as only Bolting could even hurt her. Rebecca at the right with all Archers + one Knight. She was fine with some pillar usage and a shot of Elixir midway. Eliwood, obviously, down the middle. Bolting and Georg were the reasons I needed Priscilla, Serra, or Pent instead of someone like Canas. Bolting is powerful and Eliwood took a ton of damage from Georg, though only at about 50 hit. Still, it was enough, and the walls take a while to go down, so Eliwood had to solo the guy while Priscilla healed him. Luckily it worked out such that Eliwood could kill and clear the map on the same turn. I got the good drops since I only took what items I really needed. eclipse
Reading this makes me think that the turn limits are extremely lax! Are you using supports? Edited March 18, 2014 by eclipse
Florete
Just Hector/Eliwood and Lyn/Florina. Both are already at A. Although since I barely deploy Hector anymore - and won't at all except where he's forced - I'm not really "using" that support. Yes, EHM turns are pretty lax. I've never been at a turn deficit, and only ever got close because of massive arena abuse in FFO. If the experience goal was, say, 10k lower, I could see myself finishing with as many as 30 extra turns. If I had beaten FFO in 20 fewer turns (which is about the amount extra I took), I would currently be at a 32 turn surplus. I'll lose one turn each in the next two maps, and the last two will probably be beaten in around the required number of turns, although it's very possible to beat them faster. I'm expecting to finish with about 10 turns to spare and would like to get 1,000 extra experience just for the sake of it. We shall see. Florete
Well, that didn't take too long. Chapter 29 Turns: 12 Deployed: Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, Priscilla, Serra, Raven, Heath, Florina, Matthew, Dorcas, Erk, Kent, Sain, Lucius, Rath 15 deployment slots? Defend map? No way am I losing this opportunity. Mine glitch and a map full of free experience for weaklings! Only things of note are that I used NPC Knights as a distraction for the reinforcement Luna Druids, then killed them with Florina and Serra/Priscilla. Reinforcements down south I just killed as they came, and I made sure to kill Denning on the final turn to get as many as possible. Got all the treasure (Body Ring by killing the Thief that nabbed it) and even stole an Antitoxin because it was just conveniently there at the end of Matthew's path. The worst part of this map was NPC Knights stealing my kills. Tactics - 305/346 (11 turn surplus) Experience - 37,343/41,300 (5,193 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone is alive. Combat - is good. I got 13 successful rounds in the arena, with Jaffar and Pent going each turn, Florina twice, and Raven once on the last turn. Jaffar is especially good because he can kill Axe enemies with almost no chance of death, earning a lot of money and experience. Not much else to say here. At the end I dropped money into Elixirs until Merlinus was full. I still have 12k left and really should have thought to empty Merlinus more before going, but it's no big deal. Actually, I don't really want to talk about this map. Not because it was frustrating, or made me angry, or because I failed a lot (I didn't), but because so much was going on. Some specifics: 1. Three divisions: up, middle, right 2. One healer and one base class unit sent to each. Base class units got promoted kills where possible. 3. Got all the reinforcements until the Cavaliers from the middle, and killed every enemy otherwise. 4. Visited all villages. I also did a bit of rescue-dropping with Nils on turn 1 so I could advance Lyn far enough on turn 2 to take out the Wo Dao Swordmaster and then Sain killed the Bolting Sage. That was pretty important. Nothing to collect here except some drops. Interestingly, I got the Druid's Eclipse instead of Nosferatu. 542 experience away. Not sure I could do the next map without getting that if I tried. Tactics - 325/346 (11 turn surplus) Experience - 40,758/41,300 (2,458 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone is alive. Combat - is good. Took them down over the course of the second phase, then had Heath kill the Bolting Sage and then get Rescued away. Then on turn 3 I opened Lloyd and Linus' door while Raven went to tank Darin. Clever maneuvering and some lucky crits later and Nergal's door was opened on turn 6. Florina and Athos were waiting. Athos got the Berserk druid, then was refreshed by Nils, then attacked Nergal. Florina killed the Sage and then a Druid next turn while the others down south killed the Generals for fun and then Athos killed Nergal. I had completely forgotten any preparation for the Fire Dragon, like giving Athos stat boosters so he could double and even Luna, so I just 6-rounded the thing with Aureola while healing the old guy and letting anyone get put to sleep. Raven and Priscilla reached C support, too. And then it was done. Final tally: Tactics - 335/346 (11 turn surplus) Experience - 42,088/41,300 (788 exp surplus) Survival - Everyone survived. Eliwood: Bleh as usual. Early on he was defensive enough (particularly with Hector's support) to take a hit and he did get enough Str to hit hard, but he had shit for speed and was mainly only good for finishing things off. Hector: This Hector actually wasn't half bad, but he still wasn't good enough for my style. I dunno, maybe he could have made Cog of Destiny a bit easier, but I handled things without many problems anyway. Lyn: Worse than I usually get from her because of mediocre Str, but still plenty good enough. She tended to be my prime offense with her Florina support giving her exceptional crit and having access both to 1 and 2 range (she ended with S Swords and B Bows). And guess what: her loss counter is 0. Priscilla: Probably the most valuable unit of the run unless you count Matthew for stealing the Silver Card. There's a reason she became my favorite character. Before she promotes, she's keeping the team alive. From the back of a horse. After she promotes, she kicks ass. Seriously, you wouldn't believe how often I had to have her tank enemies because someone else was in danger. And her class gets boosted experience, so she's got that going for her on top of free experience from healing. She's a major help to Experience, Survival, Tactics, and Combat. What an amazing unit. Serra: Priscilla-lite. Does everything Priscilla does but worse. So still definitely good to have around, but was always statistically worse, meaning less healing, less tanking, and less moving. Thanks for the show, though. Oh, while I'm on the staffers, here's something funny: I never used the Warp staff in this run. I just kind of forgot about it. Florina: Also had Str woes, even after the free Energy Ring, but managed to pull through anyway. She flies, ya know? And that's good. It helped me. Lyn's backup. Lyn x Florina OTP. Raven: After promotion, he had 12 Str. That's 4 below average. Jesus, man. Still, he eventually caught up, and he had a lot of Spd, so he was still helpful as a dodgy and somewhat-tanky Axer. Good to have around. Heath: Didn't do as much as I wanted him to, pretty much because he just didn't have Def. No, really, in all his level ups, he only gained Def once, and his Spd lacked, as well. He had good Str, but I just found myself not putting him into battle very often. I've seen better from him, that's for sure. Ninian/Nils: They dance and play. It's good. Wouldn't want to go without it. That was my consistent team (well, minus Hector, but Lord and all), so we're done here. Oh, wait a second: Sain: Lol. I trained him in LHM because I meant to use him, but I completely forgot about him later on. I never got down to him when choosing the good units to bring to a map, and he was usually too high to be one of the weak units to feed kills to. It's a shame, too, because he was doing really well statistically. An achievement ten years in the making! I have finally 100%d Fire Emblem! It was definitely easier than S ranking HHM.
