Most difficult part in any video game ever?

What do you find is the most soul crushingly difficult moment in any video game you've played?

Definitely going with Cavestory's secret final Hell level. That place has annoying AND endless enemies, weapons all dropped to level 1, screen shakes pretty much the whole time, crazy platforming, a fairly annoying mini boss leading into a 4 part final boss, if you die at ANY point you get sent back to the beginning and have to do it all over again, and enough insta kill spikes to make even megaman players cry. Thank god you can cheese the boss' final form or I'd have never beat it.

I'm not entirely sure if it's the hardest moment I've ever played in a video game, but the World Balance boss from Persona 3 was straight from hell. All the -dyne spells, medigoloan AND mahamaon/mamudoon? No thank you.

In just FE the Fire Dragon immediately comes to mind

However from all videogames, I have to go with the Morgan boss fight from Syphon Filter 2

You can't kill him until you complete a already difficult escort mission DURING the boss fight, cause if you do so the explosives he's wired to will detonate killing you, and he's equiped with the most powerful weapon in the game.

This weapon is a grenade launcher, which if it hits anywhere close to the bombs the person you're escorting is trying to disarm, the bombs detonate meaning mission failed.

Finally, endless groups of competant enemies swarm in to protect Morgan, which while not that big of a concern, can be deadly if your not careful.

That said, I had a blast with this fight, as it shows how ridiculos the already difficult SF boss fights can get.

I honestly could have put any boss from SF2 on here cause they are all highly insane in difficulty and original in concept.

Spoilers for Dawn of War 2 Chaos Rising

In DoW 2 Chaos Rising at the end of the game one of your teammates becomes a FILTHY HERETIC and must be purged. You find out who the Heretic is by rescuing some guy called Martellus and he leads you to the Logic Engine. If none of your squad mates are particularly corrupt then Martellus himself will be the traitor (which begs the question why did he lead you to the Logic Engine in the first place).

Now really, the player probably can't give any fucks about this as you are neither responsible for corrupting Martellus nor capable of well, giving a shit.

Then, you reach the end of the Traitor level and you quickly start giving a shit as Martellus drives out in a fully Kitted out Chaos Predator that hits for a metric ton of damage with both it's main gun and ramming, has high health and armor, constantly summons waves of minions an artillery strikes and pretty much necessitates bringing Davian Thule or other broken squads. It is without a doubt the hardest traitor fight in the game.

Even worse? After the battle you get a piece of Wargear that gives you a 10% chance of insta-killing vehicles after the most difficult vehicle based boss fight in the game. It's made out of pure troll

For me, that would be the second-to-last stage of SRW A. Snaking path with enemies that all have a 3-11 range attack, which is also their most powerfull one, which means they can almost all snipe you before you get the chance to attack. Their attacks are all very powerful. Some have enourmous amount of HP, defense, and defensive barriers. Then the enemy reinforcements are more of the same, except some have even more HP and stronger stats. And the bosses are that and then some. Only way I could ever beat it was turtling my way while putting my most evasive units first and then having 1 or 2 other units take the hits as the rest then rushed in to avoid most of the sniping, which because of the way enemies were positioned, means no one was ever really safe from them until all nearby enemies were defeated.

Rathalos's plate.....I killed like 20 of them, and got none....UGH!!! The trauma!! ARGHHH!!!

Desire Sensor has activated.

The most difficult part, for me, is to stay interested in a game. I seem to have a poor attention span for these things.

Believe me, at first, I think the desire sensor is bull....but after playing the game for 2 weeks...I realized that it's true. Just want a horn, killed 5 Diabolos, broke all of their horns...got none. Kill the sixth one, got 2....ugh! Argh!

Which version of SRW A? The GBA or the PSP one? I mean, I've only played a little of one and none of the other, but I'm curious.

Certain parts of I Wanna Be The Guy are very had. I think I'm going to go with the dreamland area, where the giant horizontal spike wall comes after you. Facing normal enemies in DMD mode of Devil May Cry is pretty damn hard IMO. I never got past chapter 2 IIRC. The Capra Demon in Dark Souls was very tough for me, and I'm not even done with that game yet. The final boss of Valdis Story was tough. And I haven't beaten the necrodancer in crypt of the necrodancer yet.

Oh, and Jenocres in Nightmare mode in Ys Origin was just awful.

Seconding this on Very Hard you damn well need to just get lucky and not screw up any part of the track.

Even if you don't make any mistakes, Blood Falcon and Black Shadow still make your life an absolute nightmare. Funnily enough though, on the harder difficulties, since they're more aggressive, they also become more likely to end up being killed by other racers.

Yeah fuck those guys. I had to hit the mines just to get a speed boost and those fire pits on the track are just terrible since you'll be boosting your ass off and if just one little part of the vehicle touches it while you're down in the red you're done.

F-Zero GX - Story mode Chapter 7

I spent countless hours on this and could never beat it.

Step 1: Race starts.

Step 2: Kill Black Shadow within 4 seconds.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: Profit!

The mission "Get the seal piece from the water slums" from Jak 2. (Pick up a shiny and 500 crimson guards come right at you. Nuff said)

Ancient Dragon from Dark Souls 2 (The fire attack's area of effect is stupid big, forcing you to be super precise about your dodges, the worst part is the arena isn't big enough for it.)

Disciple Lorithia from Xenoblade Chronicles (Summoning minions that give her a permanent armor buff? Check. Insane attacks that inflict topple, blowdown and confuse? Check. Pools of ether surrounding the room that deal a lot of damage when you fall in them? Check. The worst boss in gaming history.)

Oh man, easy one for me. Super Mario Galaxy 2. Grandmaster Galaxy. Daredevil run. Just...oh my gods, I still don't want to attempt that one again. It literally took me months to beat. But damn, was I happy as hell when I finally did.

Super Mario Lost Levels is also really hard shit though. So hard, in fact, that I never even got past world 1...

GBA version. Bless New Game + and it's removal of the part slots limit... made possible to turn Shin Getter into one of said tanks.

Man, there's no limit on the parts you can put on a robot in new game+? Or is it just that every robot can equip the max number of parts? (4?)

From the little bit I played of the GBA version, Domon and maybe the rest of the shuffle alliance are really overpowered when they enter super mode or w/e. I remember Domon being my go-to guy for doing enough damage to bosses to kill them before they retreated.

Yes, they all have the max of 4 (same things happens for upgrades, they all have the max of 20 instead of varying limits). This can make the Getter into a formidable unit, since all three forms share the effects of their equipped parts, so that means 12 parts. I had no shame abusing this, specially against the Neo Zeons I mentioned earlier... specially since even with all the boosts, some enemies still could deal a lot of damage. Like GP-02's Atomic Bazooka. Shin Getter was one of the few units that could survive the blast because of all those Cobhan/Hybrid/SuperAlloyZ's equipped.

ALL BOOSTERS

But seriously, 12 part slots sounds like the most broken thing ever!

It took me 12 hours. And 8 of them was me sleeping before beating it in the morning. But it was hard.

You wanna know what's worse than the Grandmaster Galaxy?

They say that Mario Pinball land is the only game where Bowser canonically wins...
