Playing many things on keyboards is weird to me, Touhou included.

Partially this applies to me and partially most keyboards I have except for one have that thing where you can't have too many keys pressed down so I can't like hold fire AND move diagnoally. which is HARSH.

I'm confident more people would play Touhou with a gamepad if it actually had proper support for modern gamepads. Using an XBox 360 Controller doesn't feel very good if it eats the stick's diagonal inputs half the time and flat-out doesn't recognize the D-Pad (which I'd prefer using over an analog stick whose inputs aren't registered properly).

Just look at eXceed 2nd, eXceed 3rd or Deathsmiles. Those games' controls feel wonderfully smooth with a gamepad.

that was my problem with it, mostly. it also ended up dying after not too long. That said I find that a PSP running FuSa (lets it function as a gamepad) works wonders for me.

I would love to hear your reasoning for prefering a "feature" that detracts from the gameplay experience over one that is at worst useless to you, then.

And yes, it detracts from the experience because you can't just ignore it. It's pretty much required if you want to meet the score requirement for most chapters, which is the only way to gain life pieces in LoLK. I'm not about to 1cc a SHMUP with patterns as utterly spiteful at LoLK's with just the two lives you start out with.

not really, i'm generally bad at these games i just enjoy grazing specially with some good audiovisual feedback

the gamepad vs graze comment wasn't much serious don't take it so, proper gamepad support is obviously important in any modern pc game
