VincentASM
To provide a few more thoughts, one could argue that Act 6 isn't canon story-wise. But the details within are most definitely canon, otherwise the developers wouldn't have put them there. Think of it as developer's notes that you can read in game. Same with the stone tablets in the amiibo dungeons.

Then again, you could say it sort of covers up a plothole in Awakening regarding how Walhart even knew of Grima's existence. If Alm and co. went exploring Thabes and found a growing Grima, then had the whole incident recorded in the books, Walhart could have gained knowledge of Grima through those books, since he clearly studied a lot about Alm. And that is the only legit reason for Act 6 to be in this game. Grima really doesn't have anything to do with the game's story. He's just there so we finally have an explanation for where he came from. Which really doesn't make him that less crappy a villain, but meta-wise, it's interesting to note he's dragon that's a man-made threat, while most games either has a dragon as the cause of conflict or a human as one. Grima combines both in a way.
B.Leu
I like to think that Alm and Celica destroyed The Construct before anything bad would happens. And by bad, I of course mean Grima getting out, but mostly crap plot. It's completely bullcrap and the game seems state that he is still there, but that's an headcanon. Which might save sanity of a lot of people, me included. It's really freaking funny just how much Grima, in his backstory as a post-game boss, is far more interesting, threatening and badass that he is in Awakening. Same with the Risen. Like woah. Just woah.
