Basically they want to be with more than one person at once for all the benefits on their end of being with more than one person at once. At least, that’s what I think based on what I’ve heard. As far as I can read, you can date every single datable character before getting married with no consequences toward any of them unless you trigger the aforementioned scene that can be lucked out of, and when you get married everyone will stay at ten hearts (except your spouse who can now go up to fourteen) but they will all go back to single, and the only way to get them up to ten hearts is to romance them. And if you want everyone at max relationship then... well... my character is gonna be with 12 people at once. What a joy.
