drattakbowser
Pretty weird but we can play axe weapon and their class (Warrior, Wyvern...) in Valentia games. I want to know.
Eltosian Kadath
Mystery of the Emblem Book 2 also gave you no access to Axe units. Before Genealogy of the Holy war there was no weapon triangle, so it wasn't seen as a big deal that you didn't have access to axes, and Echoes was faithful enough to keep both these ancient features. Armchair General
It really doesn't make much of an difference, considering how most of your army mainly consists of lance units.
Shadow Mir
Honestly, it doesn't matter when most of your units are lance users. Also, axe classes pretty much drop off the face of the earth after early act 3, so yeah. I like that they didn't bother to add the weapon triangle to SoV, because it woulda been foolish. Case in point: Shadow Dragon. The existence of the weapon triangle honestly only made the game worse.

People feel that the fact that you face mostly lance enemies severely nerfs sword users...which is true, but it also really buffed axe users who frankly needed it more. Simply put, the addition of the weapon triangle feels extremely clumsy when they didn't bother to alter the enemy lineup to make it meaningful. Which means in an ironic reversal from the original game, axes are great whereas swords are at a really big low. This is particularly egregious because Shadow Dragon also introduced weapon rank bonuses - something that I would assume would make the weapon triangle more meaningful (and in fact does in other games), given that WTD strips the disadvantaged side of their weapon rank bonuses.
