Happy they're continuing Legends. Just please let it cook this time. Arceus was a ton of fun but also had a ton of issues.

I only have Camilla, but I'd particularly like to get Sanaki and Alear...so of course those two are facing each other in the first round.

It's somewhat dependent on the game (no one cares for Awakening Lunatic+, for example), but the people who care about this kind of thing - unit viability, investment costs, etc. - are the fans who play these games multiple times over and probably end up desiring more of a challenge than normal mode. I rarely see discussions about normal mode if it's not clarified early, and if clarification is asked for, they usually say hard mode, at least from my own experience. It's a common sentiment that the hardest difficulty is where units are pushed to their limits, and so that's where their abilities matter the most. For this context specifically, there's enough BEXP in RD normal that I don't think most people care about it as a cost for units like Meg and Fiona. What matters is how well they use it and where it gets them. It's possible more recent games differ. I barely discussed Three Houses online at all, and when I was discussing Engage a lot of people hadn't yet gotten to Maddening (but also Engage discussion is scarce in general).

You don't need to explain, I agree it's an awful decision. I just think it's not bad enough that the whole mode should be disregarded.

General Don't make a brand new game. Continue to enhance what Ultimate already is. I know this might be a controversial take, but it's the only realistic way for us to keep the roster, and the general gameplay doesn't need much improvement, if any. Fix the damn online. Just all of it. Better alt costumes. There should be an effort to make at least one "unique" outfit for everyone (like the Odyssey Mario), but obviously characters without clear options can be skipped. Modes As long as the main mode isn't Smash Tour, we'll probably be good. The other games have all done well here (for their time, if nothing else). Newcomers 2B Dixie Kong Fucking any female (default) Fire Emblem character with a unique moveset. For fuck's sake, Sakurai (or whoever is responsible for these decisions). Even just make Corrin female-default if you won't add anyone else.

I mean, you're free to think that, but that's basically the overall answer here. People talking about high investment costs are almost always doing so in the context of the highest difficulty. This is what "gives." Consider that normal mode RD has effectively four times as much BEXP as hard mode. And RD hard arguably isn't even among the hardest hard modes in the series. Once you get used to not being able to see enemy ranges it's not that special. Even the lack of weapon triangle isn't unique to it. Nah, Fiona's better.

I'm not sure how important this is to what you mean, but I don't think Engage calls it "body arts" anywhere. I've only ever seen it as simply "arts." I guess there is the Iron-Body Art...but that's just one weapon. Some languages, including Japanese, do have it as "martial arts," though.

I don't think it will be a Fates character, too soon after Camilla. Could be M!Shez, though. The real wild card is Emblems. As far as I know, we don't know what the scheduling on them is. We've always known mythic or legendary based on the calendar telling us which it is, but since Emblem Marth was introduced alongside a mythic we don't know if that was a special thing or something we can begin to expect going forward. This month certainly has the space for two newbies. Even March and arguably April do. But if we start getting two per month, that's going to bloat the pool really quickly, and in time remixes will fall further and further behind if that pace doesn't increase to keep up. To be fair, if they wanted they could slow down the pace of new legendaries, as there aren't many big names left, but the unfortunate reality is that we're probably more likely to start seeing fewer lore mythics. And I really doubt they'll limit emblems to those that were in Engage.

It's still something that bears mentioning in this conversation. That opportunity cost won't be high for everyone.

Ender Magnolia! Ender Lilies was a real standout metroidvania, awesome to see a successor/sequel.

Now only one of my favorite characters from each game is entirely missing from Heroes. My predictions for this banner were pretty off, aside from the really obvious ones.

So can Ryoma, but Ryoma can also take some hits. How does Rutger fare when his enemies aren't wielding axes? By killing virtually everything he comes across with one of the few acquirable 1-2 range weapons that can double enemies (normal 1-2 range swords, lances, and axes in Fates cannot make follow-up attacks). This applies to any difficulty. I'm not combing through arguments from 8 years ago.

Like Jotari, I've never encountered this debate before, but immediate things that stand out to me are that Ryoma has infinite 1-2 range and better relative bulk. Also, Birthright's ease comes in large part because of Ryoma. Rutger is not essential, either.

Like I said, CYL8 results won't have influenced this banner, and Rosado still has boy syndrome getting in his way. Plus, I expect Goldmary to be a sword infantry, and the most recent Engage demote (Lapis) was a sword infantry. It is possible for Goldmary to be a lance infantry, though, in which case she'd be more plausible as the demote. ...Actually, I just checked and saw that Goldmary has boosted lance proficiency in Engage, so maybe lance infantry is more likely for her.

(Title spells the month wrong, btw) I can basically just quote my post from last month's equivalent thread, obviously taking out the possibility of getting Thracia: While CYL results won't have influenced the next Engage banner, they do perfectly fit with this prediction, as well as what my Solm banner prediction is (Timerra, Fogado, Panette, Pandreo). If we get Archanea, I don't care nor have any predictions who we will see. If we get Fates, please, for Anankos' sake, give us Mozu already.

Why do you use numbers up to 15 and then abbreviate for Three Houses and Engage? I wish people would stop using numbers altogether but at least be consistent smh.

I did catch this part of the new book, which even I as an Alfonse disliker have to admit is pretty funny. Not many lords would react so coldly.

I saw a lot of rallying for Alfonse this year. He's definitely gotten more popular over the years. In the first few years of the game he wasn't too well-liked, with people often calling for other characters (especially Sharena) to get more of the spotlight, but in recent years that seems to have died down and people are gushing over him a lot. I've been skipping the story the past few years, in large part because I don't like Alfonse, so I don't understand where it's all coming from, but his win was not surprising to me.

It's not "Mythic Marth." Emblems are a new unit type that can "Bond" with others to give them new boosts.

I wasn't expecting an Engage sweep, but...wow. Rant ahead, don't open the spoiler if you don't want to see negativity: SI being increased to 5 is awesome and makes me happy I've saved my Rearmed Chroms. Mythic Lumera is the first "Mythic alt" of a character previously in and sets a new precedent. Interesting. Now all the calls for "Mythic Idunn" have potential. Emblem Marth makes it inevitable that we'll be getting new "Legendary" versions of characters who already have them. Another Lyn is on the way!
